Chapter 37. Academy - Inside

AN: Warning!! There are a phew spoilers about First Kiss in here!! Read at your own risk ;)

The wood door opened and an older man entered the dim room.

Looking around himself he saw that he was the last of the elders to arrive to this reunion.

Mr. Duncan was already sitting in one of the wooden chairs displayed around the wood, round table localized in the corner of the room.

Mrs. Rose was standing by the only window in the place, looking out at the setting sun, watching intently as its rays shone one last time before disappearing behind the buildings around their location.

They were in an office building, in a floor where there were several medical clinics, dental clinics and others, located in central Charleston.

The room they were in was actually part of an academy's member clinic.

Approaching the table with heavy, tired steps, Mr. Bubbles fixed his tie and suit before sitting down with his back straight.

He might be exhausted, but he refused to slouch.

The door opened and in stepped a young man. He was tall, with dark hair hanging to his chin and dark eyes.

"Mr. Toma, I am so glad you could come and join us." Said Mr. Duncan.

The young man walked over to the table and sat down. Mrs. Rose merely nodded a greeting at him, a serene smile in her face that belied the wild streak she still had even at an older age.

"The pleasure is all mine. I am always glad to be of service to you all." Mr. Toma said seriously, with the confidence and authority in his tone of someone who was used to lead.

Mrs. Rose walked away from the window then and retrieved a thick folder which she brought back to the table before sitting down.

Opening the folder revealed a snap shot of a very beautiful young woman. She had dark green, shadowed eyes, chameleon hair and fair skin.

Mrs. Rose removed the photo and studied it for a minute before passing it on to her fellow elders.

Axel Toma didn't need to look at the photo to know who they were admiring at that moment. He and his team had spent the last few days watching her in the college, and he knew she was indeed a beauty.

His brothers were quite impressed with what they'd found about her.

He knew the elders would be too.

Mr. Bubbles, being the last one to view the photo, put it down and focused his attention on Axel, raising an eyebrow in silent question.

Axel smirked. He understood what the elder was asking. Yes, the male members of the academy were itching to meet the little Miss Sang Sorenson.

The birds were getting a little annoyed with the dogs, however. They whispered that the new girl was trouble.

Axel knew that Gabriel Coleman would cursed those girls to the seventh hell for calling his girl trouble, even if he did it himself, too.

Mr. Duncan pulled her file to himself after Mrs. Rose was done reading it. The file contained information compiled by the Blackbourne Team, Dr. Roberts and a few others academy' members who had watched Sang and her team since she came back from Hell.

Their community was very impressed by her competency and resourcefulness. She'd been able to do what was expected of an academy team without any training and backing.

They were also interested in her friends. But those girls had proved hard to find, proving again their own talent and resourcefulness.

They still had hope of finding them, however. Or maybe being found by them.

"I have to say, her set of skill's is really impressive." Said Mr. Duncan. "I haven't seen an untrained member so skilled in a long time. And she is young yet, and has many opportunities to learn a lot more."

Mrs. Rose nodded her agreement with an expectant smile on her face. She would love to spend some time with the lovely bird, maybe take her to explore one cave, or two.

Mr. Bubbles ran his left hand over his suit once more, making sure there were no wrinkles marring its perfection.

He was very impressed by the girl too, but he felt rather uncomfortable with her current placing with the Blackbourne team.

"She needs to be put in an all bird team." He said.

Axel raised a single eyebrow at that. He knew that proposition wouldn't go well with the Blackbourne team. He seen the way those guys watched her and she them. They were a family already and wouldn't accept being separated.

Besides, if Sang Sorenson was to be placed in another team he hoped it was his. Although he suspected that would never come to be.

Mr. Duncan looked thoughtful before shaking his head. "No. there are reports mentioning she has a deep seated mistrust of females. If we want her to change teams it needs to be to another all dog one."

Mrs. Rose shook her head and started signing. "She doesn't accept it. The reports tell us about how she is already bonded to her family."

Mr. Bubbles frowned. He didn't like it. He had nothing against the Anderson team and some others in the academy. Over time polyamorous relationship had started to pop up amid their group and he wasn't against it.

Those families were clearly happy together, which made him happy too.

But it attracted some attention to them.

And he knew a family composed of nine dogs and one bird would attract a lot of attention. He felt compelled to insist she find another family. He needed her to do so in order to protect their secrets.

But he couldn't do that. It was selfish.

He was torn.

He shook his head. "We can't make a decision until we meet with them personally." Turning to Mr. Duncan he said. "Call their leader and ask for an introduction. It's been long enough."

Standing from his chair he fixed his tie and said goodbye to his peers before walking out of the office. Leaving the building he looked up to the dark sky, trying to find a single star in the night even though he knew he wouldn't be able to see them in the light of the city.

He comforted himself, thinking that even if he couldn't see them it didn't mean they weren't there.

......

The sound of fingers taping rapidly in the keyboard fills the room with an almost rhythmic cadence.

Victor was so focused on the display monitor that he didn't even notice his typing sounded like a melody. The music coming from so deep a place on his soul that it was already a part of him, displayed in his every move.

That is what Sang did with them. Made them stronger, truer to themselves.

For years Victor was forced to play the piano and that obligation was slowly killing his love for music, but the return of his Princess was enough to awaken that side of him once more.

Looking over the information displayed in the computer Victor could not believe what he was seeing.

Mr. Blackbourne had given him orders to find the Sorenson family and start an investigation on them so they could take the necessary steps to make them pay for what was done to Sang.

Victor wasn't a bloodthirsty guy, not like some of his brothers, but the prospect of seeking vengeance against those people filled him with an ugly sort of glee.

They would pay dearly for what they had done. He would make sure of it.

But what he was seeing in his computer proved that they someone was already working to make them pay...

Mr. Sorenson was having several financial problems as his mistress had been revealed to his wife and Mrs. Sorenson had demanded divorce.

The mistress, after finding out that her "husband" was married to another woman, filled a suit against him.

Mrs. Sorenson was also receiving strange e-mails with threats and photos of a smiling and happy Sang.

The photos worried Victor.

He loved that someone was driving those people crazy with fear, but the fact someone had been stalking Sang without them knowing was alarming.

He pulled out his cellphone and redlined Mr. Blackbourne.

"Report!" He barked through the line.

"Mr. B. we have a problem." Victor said.

......

Coming out of the dingy bar where he'd been at, expecting to find a lead as to Mr. Hendricks' location, North ran his fingers through his hair.

They needed to find that bastard soon.

Hendricks had made a fortune with the insurance money of football players of AWS, as well as monetary assistance he received from the government for the counseling program against drugs he had created.

The Toma team took a while to find out about the existence of that program as Hendricks did not keep any copies or documentation about it in school.

It was only when their team joined the mission and Luke invaded Hendricks' house that they found out about it.

Walking through the darkened streets of that shitty part of town, North kept his eyes in the shadows, his ears paying attention to every noise.

Soon he reached his black jeep, parked a few blocks down from the bar he'd come out of, and entered greeting Silas and Nathan who were waiting for him inside, in case he needed assistance.

They drove in silence, not needing to discuss the mission between each other as the other guys had been listening to him while he was undercover.

It had been a long day to them all, trying to track Hendricks all over the city as they were sure he'd not left it yet, and North felt completely spent.

The three of them were all planning to head over to Nathan and Sang's house that night. Seeing his baby' smiling and happy face was exactly what he needed to relax.

"Aggele mou called." Silas said suddenly, breaking the silence.

North fixed his attention in his friend, feeling energy return to his tired body.

"Did something happen?" He snapped frowning, alert.

Silas smile made he relax instantly.

"No." The greek boy said, "She just wanted to know what we wanted for dinner."

He relaxed even more, "Anything she makes is fine. Sang is a great cook."

"Huuuummm..." His friend hummed, somehow sounding amused.

Nathan, in the back, started coughing a little. "I will give her the go ahead, then." The red head managed to choke out, pulling out his phone and sending a quick text.

North narrowed his eyes at them, suddenly suspicious, but shrugged and let it go. Maybe he was just imagining things.

Arriving at the house they got out of the car and raced to the front door, elbowing each other out of the way in hopes of being the first to get to Sang.

North was almost at the door step when a heavy body flew at him and knocked him to the ground.

He and Nathan started wrestling while Silas ran ahead and entered the house, the sound of Sang's voice and giggles drifting over to them.

They looked at each other and jumped up simultaneously, running inside the house to greet their girl.

Entering the house, North smelled a subtle hint of chocolate in the air and narrowed his eyes once more.

Watching as Silas hugged Sang who had her arms and legs wrapped around him like a koala and Nate waited for his turn he turned around and walked into the kitchen to see what Sang had made for dinner.

What he found was a pan of chocolatey cream with a plate of cut up fruit, for dipping.

He frowned at the amount of sugar in the table, hands on his hips in a menacing pose.

Sang came skipping into the room and crashed into his back, her arms wrapping around his waist in a hug.

She stood in tiptoe and kissed the back of his neck and he felt a shudder run down his back. His muscles instantly relaxed.

Well... he supposed that if his baby wanted to eat chocolate covered fruit...

Sigh...

At least it was fruit...

......

"I'm a simple man with a strong personality, a loving heart and much love to give.

I've been a doctor for many years and love my profession, but I am lonely and would love to find a companion with whom to share my days..."

"No, no, no! That is boring, Mr. B." Gabriel exclaimed, eyeing the computer monitor, "No one will want to meet the Doc with that profile."

Pushing Owen out from in front of the computer Gabriel started typing in his place. Luke was standing to the side, an unfocused look in his eyes, daydreaming.

"I don't see what is so boring about my description of Doctor Roberts, Mr. Coleman. It was a sincere description." Owen retorted, annoyed and slightly embarrassed about their assignment.

"I am a spontaneous man of remarkable and adventurous personality. I like to try new things and would love a companion to share new experiences in our day-to-day and our nights..."

"Mr. Coleman!" Owen's voice was stern but Luke could see the slight twitch of his lip and the twinkle in his eye that the older boy had started showing more and more often recently.

Luke read Gabe's description for Doc in the profile they decided to create for him in a relationship' website and laughed.

"The two of you don't know a thing!" He said, "Geez, it's a miracle that Sang gives you the time of the day, considering how helpless you both are in relationships." He laughed.

The other two shot him a glare.

"Do you have a better idea, Oh, Incredible Guru of Relationships?" Asked Gabe, sarcastically.

Luke smirked, "As a matter of fact, I do."

Luke expression was decidedly devilish and Owen and Gabriel were almost afraid of what the boy was thinking about.

After all, the prankster king never failed, and they'd been traumatized for life.
