Chapter 30. The Academy - Aware

"I am going to kill that boy." Said a very grouchy Mr. Blackbourne who was still wearing a pink suit.

"Now, don't be like that Owie!" Exclaimed Sean from where he was sitting behind his desk. "You look quite dashing in that shade of pink, you know?" Sean smirked at his friend, enjoying far too much his discomfort.

Owen was about to answer him with an uncharacteristically impolite response when the sound of giggles coming from the tiny girl perched on his desk stopped him.

Sang's happiness and enjoyment of the whole episode was probably the only thing saving Luke from getting hours for his prank.

Glancing at Sang with an indulgent smile Owen said, "You know that I love having you around, Darling, but I need to ask, shouldn't the two of you be in class right now?"

Sang smiled at him mischievously while Sean answered, "We are skipping!"

Owen turned to glare at Sean. "You are not supposed to be skipping class, Dr. Green. You are the teacher after all."

Sean pouted. "But I wanted to spend time with Pookie!"

Owen frowned at his friend severely. "Go to class now, Sean."

"Humph!" Sean smirked "You just want to get rid of me so you can get frisky with your "Miss Sorenson"."

Sang blushed ten shades of red at that and Owen threw a glare at his friend with the promise of vengeance.

Sean's answering look said "bring it on" before he broke their staring contest and skipped out of the office shouting "Remember to use a safe word!" over his shoulder.

This time Owen was the one to blush, Sang looking confused about what a "safe word" might mean.

Owen sighed in exasperation and fixed his tie before turning back to Sang and asking, "Did you want to speak with me, Miss Sang?"

She got up from the desk and sat in the chair that was in front of it, her spine straight her fingers laced in her lap.

"Yes. I worry about Silas, Owen..." She paused, her voice fading at the end, showing her uncertainty.

Owen suspected he knew what she wanted to say, but he wished for her to tell him herself. He wanted her to learn to depend on him a little. He knew she was a capable and independent woman, but she had a family that would love and support her now.

"Yes...?" He prodded.

She sighed and said, "As much as I try to think of a solution to this problem with Theo I can't see a way to stop him before he makes some real damage, I know we already have a plan Owen, but I worry about how Silas is going to handle it." She paused again. "You know he already feels guilty about not having dealt with his brother in the past."

Her eyes were now shadowed and full of worry. This girl was always thinking about his family and their well-being.

I sighed. "Sadly, darling, there is not a lot that we can do right now except for keeping one eye on Theo and hope we can catch him before he hurts anyone. As for Silas, stand by his side, just having you around will already help him greatly." He said quietly, knowing what a difference Sang simple presence has had on his family.

She sighed. I hated not being able to give her the answers she wished for, but the both of us, me as a team leader and her as someone who had fought alone for a long time, understood that some things couldn't be changed.

We would work together to find solutions for our problems, but sometimes we would have to be patient and wait for the solution to show itself.

"I will make the arrangements on your schedule so you can spend more time with him, if you wish."

She nodded her head in agreement and rose from her chair.

"Thank you for being so understanding Owen."

He rose too and walked over to the door so he could open it for her. "I will always do my best to try and understand you, Darling."

She smiled at him again, her eyes being draw to his pink suit once more and a giggle slipped before she could contain herself.

He sighed, faking exasperation when actually he was enjoying her mirth even if it was at his expense.

......

"Seriously Vic! I am going to be having fucking nightmares about that suit!" Gabriel was still complaining about Luke's latest prank as we walked to fourth period.

"I am sure you are going to survive." I told him distractedly.

I had already heard him complain for the past two periods and he was starting to sound like a broken record.

Suddenly my cellphone started to ring in my pocket, the strains of "Requiem for a tower" warning me that it was my mom calling.

Frowning I pulled it out of my pocket and answered the call, Gabriel falling quiet beside me the moment the phone rang, knowing as well as I did who was calling.

"Hello mother." I said, my voice sounding weirdly flat and lifeless.

"Victor, dear." She said, her voice grating. "I have wonderful news!" She exclaimed with false cheer.

He could well imagine what her "wonderful news" was.

"A friend of your father is going to pay big money for you to play on his party, you must prepare, they will want to hear you playing..." She kept talking, but he drowned her out, not interested in hearing what his peers wanted to hear him playing this time.

The only person he wanted to play for was Sang.

Why couldn't his parents understand that he didn't like to play for crowds of people who didn't even really listen to his music?

He was tired of dealing with them and knew that if he asked the academy for help he wouldn't need to do these concerts anymore, but he wasn't sure about what was the right thing to do.

The money he got from these concerts were a big help for his academy family. He knew they wouldn't mind if he gave up his fortune, but he still felt unsure about doing so.

Wouldn't it be selfish to give up all of that?

Suddenly a tiny, soft hand grabbed the hand with which he held the phone and plucked it out of his grasp.

Turning around he saw that Sang had sneaked behind him and Gabriel and was now frowning down at his phone display.

Victor could hear the buzzing from the phone indicating his mother was still babbling when Sang ended the call cutting her off mid rant.

He smiled. This girl was too precious.

She looked up at him with worry in her eyes and raised her hand to his cheek in a caress.

The hallway was mostly empty now, class having already started. They would be late again.

"Are you okay, Victor?" She asked, her melodious voice soft.

"All is fine, Princess." I told her sincerely. All was fine now that she was here.

"What did that woman want?" She questioned still sounding worried.

I shrugged. "She just wanted me to play for her friends again." I raised my own hand, taking hers in mine and bringing it to my mouth to kiss the top.

She blushed but forged on with her questioning, it wasn't going to be easy to distract her today.

"Do you want to play, Victor?"

No, he didn't. But if he told her that she would convince him to stop. And he still wasn't sure that was a good idea...

I glanced at Gabriel, asking him for assistance and he moved behind Sang, putting his hands on her hips.

She froze, now sandwiched between the two of us. I could see her breathing had taken up speed and she looked flushed. I almost smiled.

She narrowed her eyes at me suspiciously.

"What are you two doing?" She asked.

I still held one of her hands on mine and now I raised the other one to her face, pushing her hair behind her ear and caressing her cheek as Gabriel leaned closer on her other side, his mouth by her ear.

"What do you think we are doing, Trouble?" He murmured to her.

It seemed like she was having some difficulty in answering his question, and when he leaned down and kissed her neck she started protesting.

"Guys! We are in the college!" She squeaked, sounding a little breathless, her eyes starting to close as she enjoyed Gabe's caresses.

Surprisingly I didn't feel any jealousy.

Quite the contrary, watching them together was rather... interesting. I decided I wanted a taste too and leaned down to kiss her cheek.

She sucked in a sharp breathe, her eyes blinking open to stare at me. Her beautiful green eyes looked darker, her inviting lips a deep rosy color.

I let my lips trace over her face on tiny kisses and she closed her eyes again, swaying in place until Gabe's hold on her firmed.

I let my hand go to the back of her head, fingers entwining in her hair gently and holding her in place as I explored her face with my mouth, wanting to kiss her but not knowing if she would let me or if Gabe would freak out.

It was too soon. And a college hallway wasn't the best choice of places.

I pulled back and so did Gabe. She was breathing heavily now, her face flushed and when she opened her eyes they were dark green, desire swirling in their depts.

He much preferred that look to the shadowed one she used to have.

"Let's get you to your class with North before we get in trouble, Princess." I said.

Gabriel snorted. "Trouble is already with us, man."

......

Sean entered his condo and took a deep breath. The strong smell of cleaners made his nose wrinkle a little and he wondered if he'd used a little too much again.

Ms. Williams, his housekeeper, was in vacation and he'd been left alone to clean his own house. He didn't want Sang to think he was one of those guys who seemed to enjoy living in a dunk.

Too bad he'd learnt how to clean in a hospital, like most things in his life, which meant he only knew how to use a lot of cleaners and bleach... Did he exaggerate a little?

Sighing he removed his shoes in the entrance wall and walked to his living room in his socks, the soft cotton not protecting his feet from the cold floor.

Dropping his bag in the sofa he sat down beside it tiredly. Today was his first day off from work at the hospital.

He'd promised his family he would work less and that was what he was trying to do, but now that he was home he didn't know what to do.

He'd been spending all his free time sleeping, eating or working.

Now he was confused as to what other options he had, but he knew he needed to find something, and fast, or he would be tempted to go to work.

Looking around his pristine living room he spotted an old book in the bookshelf and an idea suddenly bloomed in his mind. He rose from the couch, walking over to the shelf and retrieving the thick volume.

It was a heavy book, with a worn appearance. The tittle read:

"Origami: The art of paper folding"

It had been years since he'd enjoyed making origami, but he remembered how much he used to like it as a child. It was a soothing past time that helped him speed along the long days in the hospital as a boy and gave him some focus when he felt adrift.

Searching the pages he found the model he wanted to try and went over to his office in search of paper. It was time to surprise his Pookie.

He spent far too little time with her and he needed to step up his game if he wanted to keep up with his brothers in the wooing of a Miss Sang.

......

Gabriel walked out of his class in a daze, still distracted by thoughts of a disturbing pink suit, when a familiar male voice calling his name made him stop on his tracks.

"Hey, Gabriel! Wait up, man!" Corey called again.

Gabriel sighed. He liked Corey, he was a good guy, but he didn't want to talk right now. He wanted to obsess over a pink suit and how he would destroy it later.

He paused in the hallway and waited for his friend to catch up.

Corey wasn't family, but he was academy and a good friend of their team. He was taller than Gabriel, with blonde hair, tanned skin and cerulean blue eyes.

"I heard through the grapevine that you guys got a bird." He commented, interest tinging his tone.

Gabriel's hackles rose immediately. Most people thought Corey was gay, but he knew better. No way was he presenting Sang to the handsome, nerdy boy.

"Uhuummm." He murmured noncommittally.

"I also heard she is really pretty." Corey added.

"Yeah." He couldn't deny it. His Trouble was... well, she was a hot piece of trouble.

"And smart. And interested on being a part of an all-boy team." The last was added with a certain emphasis on his tone.

Corey's team had only boys in it, and like their team they were interested in adding a bird to their family, knowing that finding individual girlfriends would cause the group to disband eventually.

Gabriel didn't like his friend interest on his Sang and the only thing stopping him from cursing at him was the knowledge that since they had adopted her, any academy member who wished an introduction needed to go through them first.

"Fuck, no." Okay, maybe he was going to curse at him a little...

"Aw, come' on Gabe! Let us at least say "hi" to her!" Corey pouted.

I smirked at him "Suck that lip, you dork. That shit only works with me when done by a pretty girl."

Corey smiled at him. "So, can I at least see her?"

I sighted. There was no way to deny him. We all had classes here on this college, it was an academy zone, people were bound to notice her eventually.

"Whatever. But don't you dare to approach her without permission!" I told him with what I hoped was a chilling glare, trying to portray my inner Mr. B.

"Okay!" he answered cheerfully and disappeared amid the crowd in the hallway.

Fuck, shit, damn! The academy was already after her, he only hoped they didn't try to take her from them.
