Chapter 22. First day part II

When Luke came to fetch me in the library Owen and I had been talking quietly about the plan, our heads close together while we whispered to each other.

We agreed that although I had already confirmed my willingness to give it a try to him, my personal relationship with each boy was to be allowed to develop naturally. There was no rush; I was already part of their family, the dating part would come with time for each one, on our own pace.

Luke knocked lightly on the door before opening it up and sticking his head inside. Seeing me, his ever present smile widened. "Cupcake!" he exclaimed happily, as if he hadn't seen me just that morning.

Remembering what else he'd been doing that morning made me blush as I greeted him, my fingers raising to my lip. "Hi, Luke."

"Good morning to you, too, Mr. Taylor." Said Owen, dryly.

Giving Owen a sheepish smile he said "Good morning, Mr. Blackbourne." Coming inside the room he closed the door behind himself before looking between me and Owen curiously. The light blue shirt he'd been wearing that morning wasn't present anymore and now he wore only a white, tight tank top that showed his muscles too well for my poor heart to stand. These boys would be the death of me... "So, Cupcake, how has been your day so far?"

I knew what he was asking, the boys were all very curious about my relationship to Owen, and I thought I started to understand why. Giving Owen a side glance accompanied with a mischievous smile that he instantly became wary of I turned back to Luke and said. "It was very interesting. Class with Sean was very good and my time with Owen was full of interesting facts."

From the corner of my vision I could see Owen starting to squirm on his chair and I hid my devilish smile. Looking even more curious, probably from picking up on my mood, Luke pulled out a chair from the table and sat down right in front of Owen, while saying "Indeed? Well, do tell." His eyes were shining in curiosity and mirth.

I was about to open my mouth when Owen beat me to it. "We spent a great time studying and discussing a few details about the Kota Society." His tone was controlled and formal, his face expressionless as he began to explain the more uninteresting facts cited on the article. Luke's expression was becoming bored as Owen went on so I interrupted... just as Luke was opening the water bottle he'd had on hand and raised it to take a sip. In case anyone is wondering, YES, I did it on purpose.

"The article also spoke about polyandry relationships." The big gulp of water Luke had taken was spewed on Owen's face as he chocked.

I watched in growing amusement as Luke tried to apologize at the same time as he kept coughing from the water that hadn't immediately left his mouth in favor of Owen's face and shirt.

Owen sighed in exasperation and removed his glasses to clean them with a handkerchief. "That's quite alright, Mr. Taylor." Sending me a sideways glare that didn't scare me on the least, he continues "I wouldn't blame a poor guy for being the victim of Miss Sang's mischief."

Once he'd recovered from his coughing fit Luke turned disbelieving eyes to me and asked "He gave you an article about a polyandrous society?"

I nodded with a serious expression on my face. "Oh, yes. He did. And while I sat here quite shocked at what I was reading he sat calmly beside me, focused on his book. Of course, I wasn't surprised by the look of extreme concentration on his face at the time. After all I imagine that reading Arthur Conan Doyle upside down is a very difficult task."

Clearing his throat while blushing a little Owen said. "I don't know what you are talking about, darling."

"You do." I said.

"I don't." he answered, stubbornly.

"Yes, you do."

"No, I don't."

Luke's eyes were ping-ponging between us during this very mature discussion.

Smiling at Owen I said. "You may keep telling yourself that lie, my dear. But this is a story even our grandchildren will someday know about."

My words seemed to make him very happy, because for the first time in a long time I saw one of Owen Blackbourne's real smiles. His lips stretched wide, showing white, perfectly straight teeth, his eyes shining like melted silver.

The sound of someone gasping drew my attention to Luke who was looking at Owen as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Feeling my eyes on him, he turned to me and gave me one of his own smiles, his chocolate brown eyes crinkling in the corner.

Luke jumped from his seat and grabbed my hands, pulling me up and into his arms. "Tell me we get to keep her, Mr. Blackbourne! Did Cupcake agree to the plan?" he exclaimed, his head burying itself in my neck, his arms hugging me tight around my waist while he swayed us from side to side gently. I put my arms around his neck and giggled at his cheerfulness. His body against mine felt too good and I wished we could go on with what we had started just that morning.

No rushing, Sang... And especially not in front of the other boy whom you've just kissed, they might be willing to share, but you don't know their limits yet...

Holding me the way he was I couldn't see Owen but I could hear him just fine as well as the smile on his voice. "We do and she did, Mr. Taylor."

"Amazing!" he exclaimed before adding. "Cupcake reduced the very erudite Mr. Blackbourne to the use of common words!"

We all laughed, even Owen, and I knew that while shocking the sight made Luke very happy. It was obvious that my prankster wanted to be closer to his eldest brother too. He was the sort of person who liked to play and make the people they loved laugh.

Saying good bye to Owen we both left the library for our next class, Dietary Techniques that would take place on the Laboratory of Dietary Techniques, which was, basically, a well equipped kitchen.

We spent that class mostly weighing food before and after pre-preparation for completion of the technical sheet. Then we used the food in the preparation of a vegetable pie that would make North proud.

Once we left class Luke was sad that we hadn't used any chocolate or sweets on our recipe. I reminded him that we were working through the food groups, which meant we'd go through fruits, vegetables, meat and eggs, dairy products, cereals and oils and fats before arriving in sweets.

It didn't make him happier so I promised to make for him my best chocolate cake that night. Hearing that he came up with the idea that we should have a sleep over at Nathan's. That way he could help me with the baking. Pulling out his phone he started texting the guys while we walked through the crowded hallways.

Observing the many different people who went to this college was very interesting. You could see groups of students dressed in all white, others looking like nerds, some looked like cowboys and cowgirls, minus the hat, there were also hippies, rockers, punks, and so on. It seemed like all the different tribes frequented this place.

I wondered in which group I would fit in, but the more I looked around myself the more I thought that maybe I didn't fit in any of them.

A few years ago such a thing would have bothered me, as a child I had wished to be normal. The problem was, I wasn't very good in being normal no matter how much I tried and I didn't like to be a fail either. As the saying goes, if you can't beat them then join them. I decided to do my best at being weird.

As far as I could tell I was very good at being weird. I was proud of myself.

......

When Sang baby came into my classroom and I could feel all my irritation that I had accumulated along the day going away. Dealing with all these sluts who kept throwing themselves at me in this college was getting on my nerves. I wasn't interested in them. How could I after having met Sang?

She was so pure compared with these girls. And much smarter too. I knew I didn't really have any chance with her, nor did I deserve her. But I would still fight for a tiny piece of her heart.

Getting in a relationship and forming a family had never been part of my plans, but a couple of weeks in the presence of this amazing girl and I was craving things I never thought I would dare to wish for myself.

I hoped for a home, wished for a family, dreamed about her love.

And if thinking like that made me look completely besotted, well, at least I was besotted by the most amazing girl there was. I knew it for a fact because I had met quite a few girls during my travels around the globe and none equaled to her.

Walking in my direction with that heart stopping smile of hers, her hips swung from side to side in a hypnotizing rhythm I knew was completely natural to her and not something a girl would do just to attract attention. Suddenly I understood why my brother spent so much time in La-La-Land.

"Hello, North!" She greeted with a happy smile on her face as she pulled out a chair and sat beside me.

"Good morning, baby." I murmured back to her, a light smile on my own face.

From the corner of my eyes I could see that most of the other students' attention had swung to Sang when she came into room. The fact that over 90% of those students were male didn't make me happy. I frowned and sent a glare around the classroom. Everyone turned back to the front of the room, their attention where it should be, away from my Sang baby.

"I brought you a present, North." Turning back to Sang I saw that the smile she was giving me now was decidedly mischievous. Something I could recognize with ease having a prankster for a brother.

Reaching inside her bag she pulled a small bundle out. I narrowed my eyes at her suspiciously but reached for the gift, taking it in my hands. It was light and made of cloth, probably a shirt or something. Relaxing a little I opened the bundle and pulled the black t-shirt from inside, holding it in front of my face to see the print on the front.

I groaned. "Baby..."

I lowered the shirt to see her looking at me with big, doe eyes and a hopeful smile on her face. "You know this don't really look..." I tried to explain but the extinguishing of happiness from her eyes and vanishing of the smile from her face made me groan again and pull out the shirt I was currently wearing.

The way she was now staring at my bare chest made me consider going shirtless for a while. Bad North, you are both in college, this isn't the time or the place.

With a smirk I dropped the Care Bears t-shirt over my head and put it on. I did it while sitting right on the middle of the fucking classroom, just so she would smile at me again.

Yeah, I was fucking besotted... You got a problem?

......

Walking out of class North and I waited in the corridor for Victor to arrive. My next class, about operating systems, would be with him in one of the computer rooms. North was still wearing the Grumpy Bear t-shirt I had given him and people were staring weirdly until they caught sight of his forbidding scowl and looked away in fear.

I was deeply amused, but didn't show it. I had told him before, "I didn't get mad, I got even", and this was just the beginning. Maybe I was being a little mean by making him wear the shirt to college but, really, it was so fun...

The suspicious, narrow eyed look he sent me accompanied by a smirk showed that he knew exactly what I was doing and was just taking it in stride.

I smiled. I really loved this boy; he was such a grump but his heart was made of gold.

......

Entering his office with a spring on his step Owen Blackbourne greeted his best friend, who had his head lowered to his desk, and sat down on his chair behind his own desk. "Hello Sean, how is been your morning so far?"

Raising his head with a groan Sean grew quiet when his eyes focused on the face of his ever stoic friend. Owen had a strange smile on his face, a little bigger than usual, but still making him look like he had a bad case of wind on Sean's opinion.

Staring suspiciously at him, Sean ignored his friend question to ask one of his own. "How has your morning been so far, Owen?"

Now, the weird smile looked decidedly smug. Sean was stunned.

"I've spoken with Miss Sang about the plan Sean, and she agreed to give it a try."

Sean's eyes widened in hope and happiness "Really? Pookie agreed to dating with us? All of us?" now he was bouncing in his office chair, his tiredness and uneasiness at his speaking with Sang later completely vanishing.

Owen let of a light chuckle that Sean didn't hear often. "Yes, Sean. She really is giving us a chance." Then, turning serious, he added. "But remember, we aren't to pressure her. This whole relationship goes at her pace. She has no obligation to go on dates and such with all of us immediately. Let her come to you, Sean."

Still bouncing in his chair in excitement Sean barely heard his friend. Pookie was going to give them a chance! He couldn't wait to spend more time with her! Ugh, time was definitely a problem...

He hated to admit that Owen could be right about his needing to take some time off from work, but this was about Pookie and their family.

Turning his attention back to his friend he saw that Owen had spaced out, his eyes unfocused, that small smile on his face. Grinning, Sean thought that Sang was indeed everything that their family needed. "So, tell me everything." he said.

The slight blush that stole over Owen's face made Sean's mouth drop open. Recovering quickly he jumped out of his chair and raced over to his friend.

"What? WHAT? Tell me! tell me now!" he was bouncing up and down in front of Owen's desk, eyes wide and expectant.

Regaining control over his countenance, Owen turned to Sean and said. "Christ, Sean, stop acting like such a high-school girl. There is nothing to tell."

"Noooo..." Sean whined. "I want details!"

Turning back to his computer, Owen pushed up his glasses, decided to ignore his best friend. "Shut up, Sean." He said.

"Oweeeenn..." Sean kept whining.
