It's been a month since that 'wild adventure', as Mk called it, had happened. Y/ns foot was nearly healed, and after the first few days, Mk had brought him a crutch to use to walk around. But he didn't do much of that since Mk didn't want him to.

Tye first few weeks, Mk would bring him an order of noodles, all paid for by Mk, as promised. And when Y/n would be eating, Mk would sit on the couch with him, talking about his weird adventures that would occur with him trying to figure out how to use his 'mystic monkey' powers. Y/n found the weird stories a little entertaining. He had to admit.

Mk told him about how he made so many clones and nearly went bald because of it. Then he told him about how everything went all crazy and everyone was weirdly perfect, which Y/n didn't understand, but nodded along, slurping on noodles. Then, he told him about Meis family and the dragon sword. And about the Spider queen and Y/n found it amusing that Mk was so afraid of tiny little spiders, but he didn't say that.

Mk told him something each time he came over, and every day, Y/n found himself not minding the company. Mks stories were ridiculous, sure, but Mk was so excited each time he came over, chatting his mind off. And Y/n, though he wouldn't say it, was happy to listen.

It's been about five weeks, and Y/ns foot had about two more weeks to heal. Mk was in his house now, sitting beside him as they watched a show about Monkey King on Y/ns TV. It was a weird thing they would do since Mk wanted to tell Y/n more about Monkey King and who he was, and Y/n got confused by each small story Mk would tell him, but he would listen, not wanting to dwindle that fire in Mks eyes.

Right now, Y/n had a bowl of noodles in his lap as Mk ate his own, talking his mind off, not paying attention to the show at all.

"So then Meis mom made us some–" Mk cut himself off, pulling out his phone when Mei called him. Y/n slurped on his noodles, humming.

"Oh, hey Mei!" Mk greeted after hitting answer. Mei looked unamused.

"Where are you!? You're late with our meeting with the mayor! He's at your place right now!" Mei scolded, and Y/n raised a brow.

"Everyone is here but you, Mk!" Pigsys voice cut in.

"The mayor?" Y/n muttered.

"Aw crap! I totally forgot! I was busy hanging out with Y/n again!" Mk panicked, "I'll be there in no time! Bye!" He hung up on Mei before she could scold him more. Mk scrambled up off of Y/ns couch, tossing off the blankets Y/n had handed him.

Y/n started to fold them back up as Mk put away his dishes and some of the snacks he pulled out of Y/ns cubbords.

"Why do you need to meet with the mayor?" Y/n asked, setting another folded blanket on the back of the couch. Mk turned to him, smiling, putting his thumb against his chest in pride.

"Because I'm the hero of the city! He's going to give me some sort of congratulations or a thank you or something." Mk shrugged, then he gasped.

"Do you want to come with? You haven't been out of your house yet! It'll be fun!" Mk said, holding Y/ns crutch out to him, smiling expectantly. Y/n hesitated for a moment, but Mk was right. It would probably be best to get out of his house and out of the den he created on his couch.

He shrugged, taking the crutch from Mk.

"Sure." He said, standing up with a little assistance from Mk and the crutch.

"Yes!" Mk cheered.

Once they made it out the door, Y/n rolled his eyes as Mk grabbed his hand. Mk got the staff and slammed it down, making them fly in the air, ready to get there quickly. Something Y/n knew he couldn't stop at this point.

Making it to Pigsys noodles, Mk walked inside with Y/n, who used the crutch to walk, but really, it just helped him make sure his foot didn't ache. He didn't really need it, but it was useful enough. He took a seat beside Tang, who gave him a small smile. Y/n nodded at him in acknowledgment. At the far side of the room stood the mayor, who was grinning in a weird manner, his grin too wide to seem genuine. He was wearing a suit with white stripes and gray-ish black hair with a singular blue streak.

'This mayor guy seems suspicious..' Y/n thought before his eyes locked with the mayor's. The mayor's grin got even wide for some reason, eyes narrowing slightly.

Y/n watched him look away, blinking and returning to his normal, weird stare-grin. Mk stood next to the mayor, smiling. Unaware of how creepy the guy looked.

"Thank you for this amazing turnout!" The mayor said, holding up a key.

"Yay! Let hear it for Moneky Kid! Hero of the city!" Mei cheered, throwing the stool she was sitting on, jumping around in happiness. Mk turned to the mayor, who wore that same creepy grin.

"As the mayor, I hereby give the Monkey Kid the key to the city!" the mayor said, slowly dropping the key that was shaped like a skull with blue markings into Mks' hands. Y/n raised a brow when Mk went still, eyes glowed blue for a short moment, blue energy wiping across the floor, which had Y/n lift up his feet a little bit to avoid.

Mk blinked, eyes normal.

"Uhm... what does this key do?" He said, holding it up. The mayor's grin became a smaller smile.

"Oh! It has the power to open anything!" He said, Mei ran up to him.

"Like a place full of adorable puppies!?" The mayor looked away before nodding, a blue aura surrounding him.

"Yup! And a door to a lions cage! Or an orphans piggy bank! Or an imprisoned power source -" He shook his head. "Really, anything you'd like!" He laughed.

"Today, you can do no wrong! You have my permission!" The aura was back.

"Cause I'm the mayor!" He said, cackling loudly before looking at Y/n, staring at him for a painfully long moment, disappearing in a cloud of blue smoke. Mei hummed.

"I have a feeling he's not really the mayor of the city.." she said. Y/n nodded in agreement.

Mk shook his head, smiling widely.

"A key that can open anything, huh?" Mk looked at Mei, grinning. She nodded.

"Oh no." They both looked at Y/n.

And they were off. Dragging him outside and hundreds of doors slide past them as Mk holds the key up.

"Where should we go first?" Mk said. Y/n shook his head.

"I did not agree to this–"

"Oh hush!" Mei pulled him along as they jumped through a door.

They went everywhere, bowling, the arcade (twice), and the speed track, just to name a few. Y/n just stood to the side each place they went, crutch under his armpit, unamused as he watched the other two have their fun. That was maybe the only good part about this entire thing. Watching them be stupid.

Soon, they finally stopped as people took pictures, Y/n glared at one of them who instantly left him alone when they told him to smile. He watched Mk lower his glasses, putting they key up to his ear and closing his eyes. Y/n blinked, raising a brow.

He couldn't see what Mk saw, but clearly, it made Mk shock when he opened his eyes.

"Mei! Hear me out! If this key can open anything, what if it could lock everything?"

"Kid.." Y/n rolled his eyes.

"I think that's how every key works, Mk." Mei said, and Mk huffed.

"Whatever. What I mean is, this key is dangerous! We have to be careful with how we use it. It's our responsibility! But, I want some fun." Mk laughed.

______________

Y/n stood on the balcony with Mk and Mei as they laughed as Pigsy tried his best to get into his shop, struggling to pull up the door, he ran to the back where Y/n adn Mei were watching.

Pigsy yelled in frustration when the door wouldn't open. Mk and Mei snickered, theirs giggles turning into loud laughter.

"Ha! This is so much fun. I haven't had this much fun, in well, ever!" Mk laughed, leaning against Y/ns shoulder.

"This was fun, wasn't it, Y/n? Mk asked, looking hopefully at Y/n.

Y/n rolled his eyes, putting his free arm on his hip, sighing in annoyance.

"It was alright." He said, and Mk lit up cheerfully.

"That's good enough for me!" Mk chuckled. Mei smiled.

Suddenly, Y/n quickly turned around, encasing them all in a (color) bubble as a blast of flames broke the window behind them, blasting them off the roof. Thankfully, they all fell safely on the ground below. Unfortunately, Mk had dropped the key on the ground in the tumble.

"Ugh! Do you know how long I waited for you to come home!?" Redson, who stood in the doorway, yelled angrily. Y/n slowly made the force field disappear as Mk glared at Redson.

"You better not have touched my things!" He yelled. Redson scoffed.

"Your things? Your house is so... so depressing! I almost feel bad taking anything from it!" He laughed, holding his hand out as a small aura of red energy encased it.

"But, I'm going to need that magical key." Redson hums, and that Red aura appears around the key as well, slowly lifting up and landing in Redsons hand.

"Thanks for the key, peasants!" He laughs, flying off into his vehicle and driving away laughing.

Y/n groans.

"This is why I don't want to leave my house." He mutters before Mk shushes him when Mei whistles.

Her motorcycle comes crashing in, and she jumps on it, zooming away with a green trail following her.

"Wait for me–" Mk groans, pulling out his staff.

"No, Mei, it's all good! I definitely don't want a ride. It's totally finnnneeee!" He scoffed, and Y/n shook his head.

Mk and Y/n were following behind as the staff swung them, Mk held onto Y/n as they flew after them.

Once they got close enough, Mk slammed the staff onto the ground in front of Redsons car, causing him to crash and the key to fall from his hand, landing a few feet away from where he landed. Y/n and Mk landed in front of him. Mk leaned down and grabbed the key, grinning.

"Thanks for the key. What were you trying to use this for anyway?" He asked.

"Why spoil the surprise?" They heard a new voice jump in. It was that woman again, Princess Iron Fan. She laughed softly, holding out her hand.

"Hand over the key."

Y/n watched as Mk and Mei quickly started attacking her, but she blocked every attack, knocking them into the wall, the key falling from Mks pocket and Y/n couldn't do anything since his foot was still healing and he wasn't able to use his speed to get the key before Redson scrambled up and snatched it.

"Come, Redson. We have things to do." Iron Fan hummed. Redson quickly ran to her.

"Thanks for the key, losers!" He yelled as Iron Fan shook her head. They disappeared in a whirl of wind.

Y/n sighed, helping Mk and Mei up.

"Sorry, I couldn't grab it." He said to Mk as Mk dusted himself off.

"It's all good. It's not your fault you're still healing." Mk said, leaning against Y/ns shoulder, like always. Again, these kids have no sense of personal space.

Mei dusted herself off, too.

"Did they get away with the key?" She asked, and both Mk and Y/n nodded.

"Yeah. But I still don't understand why." Mk said, rubbing his chin. Mei frowned.

"A key that can open anything is dangerous. We better keep an eye out. Anything could happen.

"Mh." Y/n nodded in agreement. Then he noticed how concerned they looked and sighed.

"I have snacks at my house, a bit of money you can borrow to buy something to eat." Y/n said, trying to get their moods to lighten up a bit.

"Yes! More Monkey King shows!" Mk cheered, instantly cheering up. Mei threw her arms up.

"Yay! Sleepover at Y/ns house!" She said, and they both started to talk about what they wanted to buy, using Meis phone. Y/n shook his head.

"I didn't say you two could– ugh. Whatever." He said, knowing he'd be ignored anyway.

Besides, a little company for a day or two couldn't hurt. Right? They were good kids, even if he questioned his sanity way more than he should. He gently placed his hand around his necklace, sighing softly.

Sorry for the short chapter!

The episode was pretty short, and I really wanted to get past this episode, but I feel like Y/n meeting the mayor was the right way to go.

It'll be very important.
