Chapter Three

South Carolina, Charleston

Aurora didn't know at the time, but that day, the day when she stepped out of the car and glanced up at her new home, that day was one she would never forget. Not because it was a beautiful house, not because of some amazing revelation that came to pass, there was nothing spectacular that happened. It was the day that they would start to trickle into her life, where they would change her views on the world she once knew and take her from the shell of a person she once was, to the women she would become. Not that she knew that at the time, then she thought of them as every other person trying to pry into her miserable life.

But that is neither here nor there, for she must first start at the beginning for her story to be told, and that starts with her family, crammed into two ordinary cars and a moving van following not to far behind. To her, this was day one, as if the years, days, even minutes before had never happened. To Aurora, it felt like being born again. Ignorant of the world and learning things anew, and she had to hand it all to them.

Day One.

Aurora was stuck in the middle seat between Lucas and Steve, Kristine and Christian taking the front with Christian behind the wheel. Sang had wanted the window seat to at least pass the time watching the outside scenery change, unfortunately just like her life, nothing goes to plan.

At the moment the twins were playing a game of 'are we there yet', and it has being going on for the last hour. Unlike Christian and Kristine, who both were completely ignoring them and having a conversation of their own, Aurora wasn't so lucky. She was so close to screaming at them to shut up and nearly would have if Christian hadn't turned around smiling, telling them they where finally there.

Aurora practically climbed over Lucas to get out of the car and almost screamed freedom just for the hell of it. It took a few minutes of stretching before turning to look at the new house. It wasn't really that impressive, smaller than the last house, two story, a veranda wrapping around both levels of the house

She wondered where her parents would be sleeping as they had said it was only four bedrooms and us kids where already taking up the four. She wouldn't be surprised if they dropped us off here and already had a place lined up just for just themselves.

"Christian, you have the pool house out back, Marie, Stacey, Bella and Aurora, you have upstairs bedrooms, the boys are downstairs with us. Go grab your stuff and start unpacking. Don't want to hear any complaints from any of you." She glanced at Dick rolling her eyes. Well that answers that question about Christian.

Lucky bastard.

The removalist truck backs in and we all head to it, the parents heading to the house to grab the keys. Kristine and Stacey leant against the car staring out across the street at some guys who just walked out of one of the houses. They both stopped and glanced up us all taking us all in before one of them stops to stare at Aurora.

Frowning Aurora turns away and jumps into the truck and start handing boxes out to the guys waiting. She grabs a throw pillow and throws it at the girls once the boys and Bella disappear. She gestures to the truck raising an eyebrow, they both snarl at her and make their way over.

"Voice still not working? What a shame. Looks like your not going to be making any new friends then. Loser and Loner like usual." She gives Stacey the middle fingers before throwing a box at her. Whoops.

She moves a few more boxes to the edge and jumps down grabbing herself a box and goes to head in. A cold chill swept over her causing her to shiver. Aurora looked to the side of the house and reluctantly made her way to the other side of the fence. Every bloody terrifying scenario popped up in her head having her too terrified to take that last step and look down the walkway that would take her to the woods.

Heart sitting in her throat she takes a deep breath in and she pops her head around the corner and when she sees nothing she takes the last step, releasing the breath she'd been holding in one large whoosh.

Adjusting the box still weighing her down, Aurora turns and comes face to face with a guy. Still on edge she drops the box and lands a punch right in his nose all the while screaming at the top of her lungs.

The guy backs off bent over holding his bloody nose. "Shit girl. I just wanted to say high."

She looks at him wide eye hand over her mouth in shock.

"Aurora what the hell?" She looks at the whole family staring at her and back to the guy. Quickly grabbing the box she passes by Kristine as she basically runs inside.

She hears her apologising to the guy and calling Aurora a freak. It's true, so she doesn't really take offence. Not much anyway.

Aurora didn't take in any of the house, couldn't really care less, she just remembered they said the room was up stairs. Not knowing which way to go, she took a gamble and started to head left once reaching the top. The first door on the left was a bathroom, there was only one more door and that was directly in the middle. Opening it up, it turned out to be the bedroom she was after spotting a few of Bella's things already to the right. The room was massive, windows around three quarters of the room.

Since the choice was gone, she put her box down under the window looking out towards the forest.

It want until she went to turn around she noticed a shadow under one of the trees. Turning fully to focus on it she realised the person was a shadow. Male if she had to guess, what it still freaked her out.

"Aurora? You ok?" Jumping at the sound of Bella she turned and tried not to look freaked out.

She nodded in return "Yeah Bella. Thanks." Bella was the only family member that has heard her talk since she stopped. Bella was beautiful inside and out. Never once being had she heard speak a word against her.

Bella being the youngest out of us girls, Kristine and Stacey never really bothered too much with her. She was blonde, clear blue eyes and a pale complexion. She was going to be absolutely beautiful when she got older.

"Is there something out there?" I look out the window to see it all clear, shadow man gone.

"No, just some trees." I look at the windows wishing I could cover them up. She would have to get curtains, and the runes. "We need curtains." I said to change the subject.

"I'll talk to mum about it. Did you need me to get some paint for you as well?" I smile at her, she knows me well.

"No, I have some in my bag. Thanks for the offer though." Sighing I look once more out the window and head back outside to the truck. "Better get back to it. Don't really want to be sleeping on the ground tonight. If you and your Anna want to head into town to pick up some stuff, I'll look after getting your stuff?" I ask her hoping to get the curtains up tonight.

"Yeah, actually that's a good idea. Well need food too. Thanks Aurora." She smiles at Aurora before running out of the room and to Anna.

Out of curiosity Aurora goes to the other side of the room and looks out the room overlooking the front yard. No sign of that guy, thank god for that. To be honest, she doesn't even know what he looked like. All she remembered was his bright piercing blue eyes, angry but still beautiful.

She saw Christian waving at her from the truck trying to get her attention. She nodded in his direction and saw Anna, Bella, Stacey and Kristina heading off together. Just great. Now she has to do even more work, just her luck.
