"MACKENZIE WAKE UP NOW!"

I screamed and rolled off the bed, landing with a loud thump on the floor.

"Geez Sean, could you be any more louder?!"

"JACE IS IN THE HOSPITAL!"

My heart sunk to the pit of my stomach. My eyes shot up and I clung to the side of Sean's bed when I pulled myself up.

"W-what did y-you say?"

"Kenz, Jace is in the hospital. He got in an accident and-"

I threw on my shoes and darted down the stairs. I swung open the door to my car and hopped in.

I drove to the hospital and as I parked the car, Cooper and Liz pulled in beside me.

Paying no attention to them, I ran through the front doors of the building.

"Jace Norman. What room is he in?"

The lady at the desk furiously typed away on her keyboard before looking up at me.

"Room 116. Second floor."

"Thanks!"

I got to his room but was stopped by a doctor. He looked to be in his mid forties.

"I'm sorry, only family and/or close friends allowed."

"I'm his best friend. Known him for six years."

He moved out of the way as I walked in the room. I stopped midway at the sight of Jace hooked up to all the medical equipment.

His face was bruised, a few cuts here and there. His arm was in a cast and so was his leg.

I gently touched his bruised cheek, my hand soon cupping it. His breathing was steady, his chest rising.

"I'm so sorry..." I whispered as I sat down.

I silently cried into the bed, my arms over my head. A hand touched my back, but I didn't dare look up.

My hand grabbed onto Jace's and I tightly held it there.

All I need to feel was his hand in my mine. That's when I know he'll be okay, and when I'll be okay.

I felt movement from underneath my hand. My head shot up to see Jace stirring around before his eyes fluttered open.

He turned his head and smiled when he saw me. I quickly wiped my tears away, but kept my hand in his.

"You're awake." I lightly laughed, sniffling.

"I hurt so bad, it doesn't feel good." He let out a laugh before groaning in pain.

"And it won't for a while. I'm just glad you're okay Jace."

I pulled his hand closer to my face and kissed it. I now realize that my feelings for Jace are being revealed to him, and he doesn't have a clue.

Jace pushed himself up slowly before scooting over and patting next to him.

I took that invite and got in next to him, lying my head on his shoulder. His non-broken arm wrapped around my shoulders.

"How's the baby doing?" His hand moved to my bump.

I set my hand on his, "The baby's doing amazing."

"I'm so sorry for everything Kenz. I hate myself for yelling at you, I hate myself for not talking to you for days. You're my best friend, and I can't lose you."

You're my best friend and I can't lose you.

Those words hit me like a wave. That's all he'll ever think of me as; a best friend.

"I can't lose you either Jace." He leaned down and kissed my forehead.

i think he got in a accident but i'm not 100% sure

i'm with him right now, he says hi

i'm happy my bud's okay

mackenzie:
none of us can afford to lose him, he's what keeps us laughing and sane
i gotta go, i'm gonna stay with jace for a bit

Jace looked at me when I put my phone down on the table beside the bed.

"They're worried about you. I told them you're okay and that I'm with you."

"That doesn't concern me. I want you know that I'm going to be there for you and our baby, no matter what Mackenzie."

I was utterly shocked by Jace's words.

"Y-you are?" I mentally smacked myself.

"Of course I am. You're not raising our baby alone. Okay?"

I nodded and dug my face into the pillow. I never got the image of him and Sienna out of my head.

"I saw the picture of you and Sienna...are you together again?"

"What? No, I ended it with her weeks ago."

I crinkled my eyebrows together in confusion. I pull up Jace's Instagram account and my mouth dropped open.

The picture of him and Sienna was gone.

"I-it was- what?" I kept reloading the page.

"Mackenzie, whatever you saw wasn't true. You were right, I needed to end things and I did."

I sighed in absolute relief. I was so happy that Jace ended it with Sienna, she was completely toxic towards him.

"You didn't have to take my-"

"Be quiet Kenz. It's over. I know you're happy about it."

My cheeks flushed red as Jace practically read my mind. I buried my head in his chest and let what he said replay in my mind.
