Misunderstanding
"You know, Skullcrusher's gonna need somebody to look after him, now," Hiccup said, petting the Rumblehorn's scaly nose as he looked at Eret. "Me?" He asked and looked at the Chief of Berk in disbelief. Skullcrusher turned to the dark haired man and nudged him softly.
Eret looked at him with a smile and Hiccup smiled back at him.
"I'd be honored."
Hiccup nodded at him before turning back when he felt someone approaching him. "You know," Valka started as she walked up to her son. "Your father would be every bit as proud as I am," she continued, taking his hands in hers. "I know. Im really glad you're here, mom," Hiccup said softly and they looked over Berk.
Meanwhile, a bit away, Astrid was slowly walking up to her fiancé when she passed Eret. He stopped her right in her tracks when she passed him. "Ehm, Astrid?" He asked, looking at her. "Yes, Eret?" She asked, turning towards him, showing him that she was paying attention.
"I was thinking...maybe we could take a flight later. You know, like a talk through of the basics while getting to know each other better. I'd love to get to know you on a more personal level," He said, shooting her a slight smirk.
"I...uh, I don't think I can do that, Eret," Astrid begun, holding up her hands when she saw him stepping closer to her, leaving Skullcrusher behind him. Eret stopped when he saw Hiccup step up beside Astrid.
"Is something wrong, M'lady?"
Astrid looked at her fiancé, sighing in relief. It wasn't that she couldn't take care of herself because she could but she wasn't used to guys, - or, men - getting onto her like this. Hiccup was usually sweet and patient when he wanted a flight or to just spend time with her.
Eret had basically jumped right onto her, asking her if she wanted to spend the night with him.
"No, nothing's wrong, Chief," Eret begun and looked back at Astrid. "So, what do you say, young lady?" Eret asked with a smile.
Hiccup looked at his future wife and looked at her. Before he wanted to say anything, Eret started to speak again. "What? Don't tell me you're turning off spending a night with me," He said.
Hiccup's head snapped towards the man and his eyebrows furrowed before he looked back at Astrid. "Tell me what's going on," He said, basically ordering her. Astrid sighed and looked at him. "I was going to walk up to you and greet you but he stopped me and basically suggested that I should spend the night with him, in that way," Astrid said.
Hiccup looked over at Eret.
"Is this true?"
"I guess. Isn't that okay here?" He asked. Hiccup shook his head. "No, you have to marry someone to be able to do that. Like I'm going to marry her," Hiccup said and held out his hand, letting Astrid take it.
Eret looked at them and held up a finger, moving it between them. "Oh, you two are...?"
"Yeah," Hiccup begun and intertwined his fingers with hers. "Oh, I-uh...sorry. I though..." Eret started, fumbling on his words and being embarrassed. "Yeah," Hiccup said again and watched him stride off, embarresed with Skullcrusher following after him.
Hiccup turned towards Astrid and smiled. "I can't really blame him though," He said softly with a smile and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Hiccup!" She whisper-yelled at him and slapped his shoulder. Hiccup laughed and pulled away.
"I want you to meet my mother," He said and grabbed her hand, pulling her with him as he walked over to the aged woman standing beside Toothless. Once reaching them, he let go of her hand and backed off to the side slightly.
"Astrid, this is my mother. Mom, this is Astrid, my fiancé," Hiccup said with a small smile and a proud voice. "Fiancé," Valka echoed and held out her hand. Astrid took her hand, slightly hesitating and she pulled her in. "She's beautiful," Valka started and smiled. "You two will make beautiful babies."
Both Hiccup and Astrid blushed and Valka laughed at them. "Well, you two have fun, I'm gonna make sure Cloudjumper is okay," She said before walking away.
Hiccup smiled once his mother was gone. He walked up to the blonde and pulled her into his arms. "Hey there, M'lady," He started with a small smile as he leaned in and placed his lips on her temple. "Hey there, babe," She laughed out an wound her arms around his torso.
"Only three weeks left, M'lady."
"I know, I can't wait."
"Me neither."
"I love you," They said in unison before laughing and leaning in.
(A/N: Aaaaand, I'm ending it there. Hope you liked it. I always had a though of Eret misunderstanding Astrid for being single and then Hiccup comes along. Heh.)
