(A/N: Rewatched this edit my friend haddockthethird made and the caption inspired me. This is very out of character for Hiccstrid, sowwy.)

She approached the entrance to his little study cautiously, - as to not try and startle him if he was asleep.

Shifting the blanket in her arms, Astrid reached forward and pushed aside the curtain, entering the little room at the back of the new forge.

Hiccup, - deep in thought - jumped and Astrid cursed under her breath before smiling at him. "Sorry. Didn't want to scare you," She said quietly and unfolded the blanket, draping it across his shoulders for warmth in the chilly evening.

"It's fine," He murmured as he patted the place beside him and lifting an arm. Astrid smiled and scooted in beside him, snuggling into his side as he draped his arm around her, covering her with the blanket too.

Sitting there silently for a few minutes, Astrid finally lifted her head and looked up at the young man beside her. "It's a big day tomorrow. Don't you think it's time to get some rest?" She questioned, fiddling with a random strap on his chest.

Hiccup shrugged lightly, a smile on his lips. "I guess..." He started, looking at her closely. "It's just hard to believe, I think."

She hummed questionably.

"Marriage. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine marrying someone. Especially not you," He said slowly and pressed a small kiss to her temple.

"...are you regretting it?" Astrid asked, voice clear and eyes set on his face.

Hiccup shook his head. "Gods, no. I could never regret you," He replied, looking at her with soft eyes. Astrid smiled, a small blush flushing her cheeks.

There was a pause before Hiccup spoke again. "I thought you weren't ready for such a big step though."

Raising her head, she looked at him and shook her head softly. "No. I was. I always was. I just knew you weren't and I didn't want to take such a big step if you weren't ready," She stated, leaning back a little to look at him properly.

Hiccup's eyebrows furrowed and he looked at her questionably. "What do you mean?"

She sighed, trying to put the words together correctly in her mind. "I'm saying..." She trailed off and looked at him. "You lost so much in so little time and loosing your father affected you the most. You were afraid of change and used Toothless as a security blanket because you weren't ready to face what was about to come," Astrid said firmly before motioning the place around them with her hand.

"Then...you took the big decision of moving us to a completely new island and start a new life. The dragons leaving was a big hit for everyone, - especially for you - but you grew and you accepted the change. You became ready for a life without dragons and that's when I knew I could take that big step and marry you. I didn't want to until I knew you were ready and you are now," She said, hand somehow finding its way to his cheek through the tangled limbs and caressing the freckled skin.

He watched her throughout her "speech" and when she was done, he was at a loss for words.

Leaning into her hold and staying there for a few moments, he smiled at her. "I guess you're right. I really was scared of change but I know things are gonna turn out for the better now," He said and squeezed her with his arm.

Astrid laughed quietly. "Yes, they are," She started and looked up. "So, what are you saying, Chief? Ready to head home and sleep before the big day?"

"You know I am, General."
