Fortune Cookie
(A/N: Sorry, it's 11:36 PM right now and I have three other drafts I have to start writing on. Short chapter.)
He pushed open the door the the fancy restaurant and held his hand out for her to take it. She did, smiled at him and walked inside.
Hiccup followed after her. He let her go and walked up to the cash counter and placed his hands on the edge of it, leaning in slightly. "Excuse me?" He asked. The person at the computer stood up and smiled. "Welcome to Chinese Food, what can I help you with, sir?"
Hiccup looked at the older woman. "Henry Haddock. I reserved a table for two on the second floor." [1]
The woman went through the papers and smiled. "Yes, Timmy here will take your orders tonight," She said and gestured to a young man standing at the far end of the cash counter.
Timmy smiled and walked over to Hiccup. "This way," He said and started walking up the stairs. Hiccup walked over to Astrid and held his arm out as a gentleman. Astrid smiled and grabbed his arm, letting him lead her up the stairs. The waiter held the door open for them and Astrid walked in first. Hiccup smiled and followed her, nodding to the waiter.
Hiccup had something special for Astrid this evening and the day before, he had called in to Chinese Food and told the cashier to prepare and do something if they could. Of course, he told them and they could gladly do it.
"Oh my gods, Hiccup. It's so beautiful," Astrid said and looked around. He heard the door close behind them and he smiled, walking up to her and wrapping his arms around her from behind, kissing her cheek before trailing down to her yaw and neck. "My queen deserves only the best," He said softly and turned her around, kissing her lips softly.
Astrid smiled and hooked her arms around him, holding him close. "Thanks, babe. I love you."
"I love you too, beautiful."
He smiled at her. She was just gorgeous tonight. Her strapless, red dress was simple with a silver/grayish strap around the waist and many ruffles at the bottom. She really didn't like wearing heels so she slipped on a pair of black ballerina pumps with straps around the ankle. In her hair, she had a black, plastic flower to hold her golden, curly locks up.
Hiccup himself was wearing a plain old, black tuxedo with a black bow tie and a red rose in that little pocket to match her.
They pulled away from each other and Astrid looked around. There was a fire place in the far back of the room. A black, leather couch, a table where they would sit and that's about it.
Still, the place looked more beautiful then she could've ever imagined. Hiccup watched her. If there could be literal hearts beating instead of his eyes, they would but that's not possible. He hoped that everything would go as planned today. He had been planning this for weeks. He even threw Astrid out of the house for a few hours to go shopping for that dress so he could finish his preparations.
But, gladly, those were over and now, they were there. The waiter suddenly walked into the room, - Timmy - and the two sat down at the table. Timmy gave them the menu and grabbed the champagne bottle he'd been holding, opening it and pouring some champagne into the two glasses.
"Here's this..." Timmy said and put down a small device on the table. "Push this little button on it and it'll show up on the computer that you guys wanted something. The woman at the desk, Helene, she'll see it and she'll call me."
The two nodded and Timmy walked out to leave them alone.
Time flew by pretty quickly. From it being seven in the evening to the clock just hitting past ten at night. The restaurant had day shifts and night shifts, meaning it was open everyday, all day.
After three different meals, appetizer, meal and dessert, there was only one thing left. Hiccup smiled at Astrid before ringing the "bell." Astrid furrowed her brows and looked at her boyfriend. "Hiccup, one more thing and my dress will rip. I'm stuffed," She said. He laughed. "I know. Me too but it's out fifth year together. Happy fifth anniversary, M'Lady."
Just as he finished saying that, Timmy came in with one last silver dome [2] and he put it on the table between them. He looked at Hiccup before pulling the lid off, revealing one fortune cookie.
Timmy then quickly disappeared out of the room. Astrid looked at Hiccup with a confused face. "Hiccup-" He caught her off. "I know. You take it. I got it for you. I don't need a fortune to tell me something good. I already have you," He said softly and stood up, leaning over the table and pressing his lips against hers for a few seconds before pulling say and sitting down.
"Okay..."
The blonde took the fortune cookie by the ends and cracked it open. Hiccup smiled and reached into his picked slowly, for her not to see. The paper inside the cookie was folded into two and she grabbed it. Hiccup softly took the small box in his pocket and pulled it out, opening it under the table.
Astrid opened the small paper and read it out loud, "Will you marry me?" Before looking st Hiccup. He was sliding a small box on the table towards her. She gazed down at it before looking at the note once again. Her breath caught in her throat her and dropped the cookie and the note, standing up. Hiccup stood up and looked at her.
What came next caught him off guard. She sprinted up and jumped onto him. Her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms, around his neck. He almost lost his balance but he stood firmly and remained standing.
He put his hands under her to hold her up and smiled. "We've been together ever since my accident five years ago. You've never left my side since then. You've made me mad and you've made me cry but you've made me the happiest man alive. And, I want us to keep going. To stay strong and to grow even stronger until we're unbreakable. So, what do you say? Will you marry me?" Hiccup asked and smiled. Astrid nodded into his shoulder before pulling back her head and looking at him. "I will marry you. I love you so much," She said, half crying in happiness before she pressed her lips against his.
He knew right then that, no matter what would happen, she would always be side him. Not just as a loving girlfriend, but a wife. He knew that she would be there even st the hardest of times, making him realize what he has and what he has to fight for so he won't loose it. She's his rock and she's the only thing that keeps him together.
If he lost her, he would never forgive himself.
(A/N: Long time, so see! Hey! I've been up since 3 AM tonight (it's 7:07 AM right now) to finish up these stories. I have three more after this that I have to finish with so I'm excited. Oh, and, we adopted another pet. It's a long haired guinea pig. However, their owners didn't take care of him and he literally looks like a floor mop. I'm gonna try to get him as silky and beautiful as I possibly can. Picture of how guinea pigs are supposed to look like is below:
What Melvin looks like before we cut him:
After we cut him:
