First To Believe In You

Astrid walked into the forge, looking around. The significantly larger workshop was filled with tools and leather for saddle making and dentistry for dragons.

Oh...those things would have to be put away or used to something else. With no dragons around any longer, life was peaceful but boring.

Astrid sighed, thinking of Stormfly. Oh, her beloved dragon. She'd miss her but she was glad to know that Stormfly was somewhere where not many could find her.

Finally, a better, safer place for dragons to live in peace and quiet without any disturbances.

Pulling the curtain away, she stepped into the small study Hiccup's been working in since he was small and found her fiancé sitting at his desk and rubbing his forehead.

Jumping slightly, he turned his head towards her and his eyes lit up. She could see a line between his eyebrows and a small frown on his face.

"Hey," She said softly as she stepped in, pulling the curtain closed behind her. "Hey there," He replied and scooted to his right, giving her some space on the bench beside him.

Astrid thanked him with a smile and settled beside him, instantly laying her head on his shoulder.

Hiccup wrapped his arm around her waist and squeezed her softly, - something that he never took for granted was to hold her a little tighter and kiss her a little longer after loosing both his father and Toothless.

"You should come and get some rest. You've been running around like a maniac and sitting in here all day," She pointed out softly and snuggled into his side.

"I know. I just need to figure out how to make this work," He said and motioned at the blueprint of a house on the desk, turning his head and burying his nose into her hair.

Astrid raised her head softly and looked at it. "Who's house is it?" She asked and rested her chin on his shoulder, able to see him.

"Ours. I wanted to make it bigger and make more rooms, just in case."

Astrid looked up at him, observing his expressions to read his emotion. "But...our weddings in one moon. Will it get finished by then?"

"Of course it will. We're halfway done," Hiccup said softly, the corner of his lips tugging upwards as he leaned in and pressed his lips to her forehead.

"Good."

"Hmm?"

Astrid shrugged and softly took ahold of his hand, holding his right hand in both of hers, - his left arm was holding her.

"I don't know..." She started, tracing white, raised skin on his palm, - minor accidents from forging throughout the years. "I guess it's just hard to believe we're actually getting married."

Hiccup pulled back, opening his eyes and watching her. "I know. You want to get married to me, right?" He asked, his eyebrows slightly furrowing.

"Of course!" Astrid exclaimed happily. "Of course I do," She said again, her voice low. "You're the Chief. You need a wife."

Hiccup pulled back and slid his hand out of hers, looking at her. "You're just saying that or is that really the only reason you wanna marry yours truly?" He asked with a small lopsided smile, obviously knowing the answer but wanting to be a little playful with her.

"No, no, no!" She started and waved her hands in front of her. "You're the most important person in my life next to my parents. We've been together for Thor knows how long now and I couldn't imagine my life with anyone else other than you."

Hiccup chuckled. "We've been together since that sunset at the Edge all those years ago after you went temporarily blind," He said and raised his hand, placing it on her cheek and caressing her freckle-scattered skin with his thumb.

"Yeah. That doesn't matter though. I've been with you ever since Toothless took us on that romantic flight. I have believed in you ever since stupid became lame and you decided to settle for doing something crazy," Astrid said with a smile, leaning into his touch.

They had been so young when Stoick had taken Toothless to show him the Dragon's Nest.

"Yeah, I know. Thank you for sticking through everything and supporting me," Hiccup confessed with a loving smile. He watched her closely, seeing her pupils dilate.

"As I said, I'm the person I am today because of you. All of this is because of you. The amazing adventures, memories and scars we earned," Astrid said, a smirk tugging itself into her lips.

Hiccup rolled his eyes, catching on. "Yeah, only fun if you get a scar out of it. Gotta love pain," He deadpanned before lifting his left leg. "I think this scar is more than enough."

Astrid laughed at him before scooting closer and putting her hands on the desk and on his leg for support.

Leaning forward, she pressed her lips against his while he chuckled. Hiccup gave away a muffled sound before his hands landed on her waist and cheek.

Pulling back less than a second later, she huffed. "You're such a dork. I wonder what our kids will be like."

Hiccup shook his head with a smile. God, children. Something he'd always wanted but never been truly sure he'd get and there she sat, in front of him.

His future.

"I think one of me is enough as it is," He said before trailing the hand on her cheek into her hair and pulling her towards him.

"Now, come here."
