Change Me And Never Let Me Go
He watched her body lay beside him, breath even against his chest with a rosy pink smile on her lips. Never in his life, - or what had once been his life - had he seen such a beautiful young woman and she amazed him.
He had once walked the earth as a human too yet he had a hard time remembering what it felt like. Alas, he did remember nonetheless but it pained him.
Furthermore, it pained him to know that she wanted to throw it all away. Everyday, he wished he hadn't been turned, - wished he could be human again, even just for a little while.
But he couldn't. And knowing that Astrid wanted what he had instead of seeing the beautiful gift of life made him feel miserable.
Everyday, she pleaded for him to turn her and each time, it became harder to resist her. Why? Because he had wandered wretchedly for close to two centuries with no one to keep him company. And the people he once had met had faded into memories by his next visit.
Nothing seemed to last forever apart from his cursed life as an acquaintance for the archfiend.
He let his icy fingers rest on her warm shoulders, mapping her skin like Braille and a pained sigh left his mouth. He couldn't keep doing this.
He couldn't hear her beg and plead anymore. He couldn't give in and take her life away from her. All of the things she'd miss and it would be his fault.
Shaking his head, he planted a cold kiss onto the soft skin of his lover before shifting and slipping out of bed.
He had to leave.
For her.
"Hiccup?" Came a soft, almost incoherent sentence from the girl who twisted his cold, dead heart.
Turning around softly, the look on her face made him falter. She knew what he was up to.
She let his name fly though the small room again and he cursed himself for awaking her. Taking a step back, his hand landed on the doorknob and he gave her sorrowful eyes.
"I'm sorry, Astrid. I can't do this to you anymore," He said, voice hoarse and cracking, despite the fact that he couldn't cry.
Astrid interrupted him as he turned the doorknob, slipping out of bed and standing in front of him, baring herself for him for the hundredth time. "Please don't walk out that door," She pleaded, eyes glistening.
He turned fully towards her. "I can't stay. I can't take everything from you-"
"I want you to," Astrid replied calmly despite the tear rolling down her cheek and neck. "I don't want to! I don't want you to feel as miserable as me! I can't handle that...I can't," Hiccup whispered the last part, head bowed.
"I wouldn't be miserable. I've been thinking about it since you told me. I know what it would mean to become a Vampire," Astrid replied and took a step forward, gathering her hair and pulling it away from her neck as she did. "I'm ready. I wouldn't want to live my life without you. I'd be miserable."
Hiccup raised his eyes from the floor, wanting to believe it with everything he had in him.
"Astrid, I...I love you. More than anything and you know that but I-" He was interrupted mid-sentence.
She closed the space between them, pressing her naked, goosebump filled body against his cold, clothed one and pressed the tiniest kiss to his lips before bringing her mouth up to his ear and whispering, "Change me and never let me go."
That was his breaking point.
He grabbed her hard, mindful of his inhumane strength and pressed a kiss to her neck before sinking his teeth deep into her jugular vein.
Astrid cried out and clawed at his back before becoming soundless and her limbs falling limp around him, both settling down on the floor.
Drawing back, he looked at her, pale and unmoving in his arms and he wondered if he'd gone to far but then- her heart beat, strong but slowing down steadily with every couple of beats.
Astrid cracked her eyes open and gave him a dazed smile. "Thank you," she uttered out before drifting off.
Hiccup nodded and pressed a kiss against her forehead before picking her up and walking to the bed.
Carefully settling down on the bed, he covered her naked body and pulled her against him, feeling her breathing slow down.
"Rest now, M'lady. I'll be here when you awake," He said softly as he caressed her cheek. "Forever."
