PERSONALITY
° zhenglong or, dan, as his friends and family call him is generally a pretty friendly guy. he doesn't have any problem holding or initiating a conversation and is naturally a very curious guy so he likes meeting new people. by nature, he's always been willing to learn and is always striving to improve himself but he's also very softhearted and kind, too empathetic for his own good as his father puts it, just like his mother. he's long since put that empathy aside for vampires though, placing the safety of his human friends as his priority which just speaks volumes about how protective he is and doesn't do much for his case about being too empathetic but as long as he gets his job done, his father can't complain.
° on the surface, he appears quite resolute in killing vampires because he's so used to it, and appears somewhat cold hearted. he never cries over anything or complains because as his father puts it, it's a sign of weakness. he's also always working to improve his skills and to reach the top of the faction just as his father has done while at the same time appearing like a nice and sweet gentleman. he's always been quite obedient to his father ( although not towards others ) , probably because he's the only relative he has left, but because of that, it's sort of drilled some rather toxic masculine traits into him. when stressed out, he tends to lash out at others rather than cry it out like he would have done as a kid.

BACKSTORY
° dan had a pretty normal life growing up, for the first few years at least. he had an absent father because he was always so busy doing his job and was a lot closer to his mom but life isn't that easy is it. his mom got diagnosed with cancer which literally crashed his world into pieces. he spent a lot of time crying and praying, hoping that would make things better, they did not and eventually his mom died. by then, dan was 7. it was also then that his fathers real occupation was revealed to him, a vampire hunter. 7 was the roughest period for him, not only did he have to struggle with the death of his mother, something his father didn't seem affected by ( he would later later learn that was not true and his father just hid his emotions very well ) and was always busy with his work, but he was also taught how to be one too. his father was a perfectionist and as one of the top leaders of the faction, he expected nothing less of greatness from the small boy. so, from a young age, he was taught not to cry or give in to failure, never to show any weakness and to always go in for the kill. by nature, dan was a kind soul, something his father always said he got from his mother and as a result, his first real encounter with a vampire at 14 resulted in the huge gash on his back. of course he wasn't alone at that time so the others easily handled it but after that, he forced down any other "weakness"and just like his old man, rose up the ranks. even at 21, he's well respected and is expected to achieve great things
