Chapter One
All I saw was black. Just black. No light, no sound, and I couldn't even see my self. Suddenly a voice echos through the void.
Ah, Cally Everston. I see you have finally entered my realm.
I shudder. The voice sent chills down my back.
"Who are you? Were am I?"
I am Inanis(A/N pronounced i-yan-is). I am the void. And you are me.
"I, sorry what?" I gaped at the darkness.
This is your mind. I am the dragon you glimpsed. I'm joined with your body.
My mouth was wide open.
I offer you a choice. Accept me and wake up or reject me and remain here till the end.
It must have been about a minute before Inanis spoke once more.
I would quicken your answer. Your body can't take much more strain of this limbo. Have you decided?
I hesitated. I then said what Inanis probably wanted to hear the most.
"I accept."

The first thing I heard was a slow and steady beeping. I then heard a quiet murmuring next to me.
"It's a miracle she is still alive. I mean, she had a stroke yesterday." I hear what I believe to be sobbing. My eyes flutter then close again at the bright light above me. I try again to a better success. I was laying in a hospital bed surrounded by machines. I slowly lift my hand towards my face and felt a mask on my face. I grab it and pull it off. It takes a few attempts but I get it off my face, allowing me to breath freely.
As the mask was freed from my face, it lets out a hiss of gas. Out of the corner of my eye I see a doctor spin around at the sound. He quickly runs over to me and started checking the machines.
"What happened to me?" My voice comes out harsh from disuse. One of the nurses walks over and says quietly,
"You were struck by lightning. You were in a coma for eleven months." My mouth must have been hanging open pretty wide because she chuckled.
"Please cooperate with what we have to do and we will send you home as soon as possible." I nod as she walks towards the door and then she turns back and winks. She then disappears from sight as the other nurses in the room crowd around me. I cooperate like the strange nurse said. I was soon left alone in silence.

One week later
I smile at my mom as she walks in to pick me up. I was released from the hospital just ten minutes earlier. Nothing had happened concerning the dream I had of Inanis. I thought it was just a hallucination of a fevered mind. My mom smiled back then frowned.
"What happened to your hair?" she asked. I frown also and walk over to the mirror. The tip of my hair was seemingly turning Usilver with a hint of gold woven through out. I was confused. Had the lightning do this? If so, how? Was that even possibly? What else did it do to me? Did this involve that void and Inanis? My mind started to rant. I might of started to hyperventilate as mom rubbed my back. Mom then spoke,
"It's fine Cally. It happens. Let's just get home and get you settled in, okay?" My mom always had a sense of timing on when to say certain things... She is an amazing mom. As we arrived home, I quickly dashed into the bathroom to get a closer look at my hair. I gasp. Even more of my hair was shifting. There was now a length of two inches of silver hair at the tips. And it was still spreading.
I run my fingers through my hair. More specifically, through what was now almost two and a half inches of silver. Mom then chose that moment to call for dinner. I trudge down the stairs and plop down onto my chair.
"So, can you tell me what happened? From your point of view I mean," Mom asked.
Yes, tell her! Inanis whispered in my mind for the first time since I woke up. I flinched, earning a concerned look from my mom.
"I don't want to talk about it," I sigh, then headed up to my room, grabbing an apple on the way.
