Chapter 8: A little rusty

Ω Jack's POV Ω

The warehouse was big and intimidating in a nutshell. With bricks that look like they were barely holding themselves together, and thin glass windows that were barred like prison cells.

"Hello?" Merida called, her voice echoing off the walls. "Hephaestus? God of blacksmiths and metal and such! We need ya!"

Hiccup sighed and put his hands in his pockets as he looked around at the place. "Jeez... I'm surprised vintage beer drinking hipsters didn't turn this place into a restaurant yet..." He mumbled.

I blow the hair out of my face and look around questionably. "Are you sure we picked the right—ah!"

I was cut off when suddenly, a huge, metal cage dropped down and captured us all before flying back up into the air.

Hiccup's prosthetic foot pressed up against my back while Rapunzel's braided hair somehow managed to get tangled around my pendant.

"Hiccup don't you dare stab me with your weird device or a swear to Hades..." I warned, watching as he managed to scoot himself away in the circular cage. "Punzie I could use some help here."

She quickly turned around and helped join me in trying to get my pendant out of her freakishly long hair... However it was awkward as she was basically sitting on me.

"It worked!!" A voice boomed from the balcony of the warehouse. We all froze and looked towards the source. "Oh is that a son of mine in there?"

"Hey dad..." Hiccup mumbled, slouching his shoulders. "Mind getting us out of here? But gently. My foot can't handle that much impact just yet..."

"Ah yes I heard you got your foot chopped off." The god said as he lowered the cage for us all. After managing to untangle my necklace from Rapunzel's hair, we all made our way up to the second level to greet Hephaestus with not so open arms.

"It looks very... Normal..." He said as he looked at Hiccup's foot, examining it thoroughly. "Does it do anything?"

"It turns into a blade." Hiccup shrugged, holding his leg up. "I was kinda in a rush so that's it."

"I could've added thrice the additions in that amount of time."

Hiccup didn't say anything but let out a dejected huff.

"Hey..." Merida spoke up, stepping forward with an impatient look in her eyes. "Look we aren't here to talk about mechanics at the moment. We're here to complete our quest so if you could just take out your item and help us that'd be great."

"of course of course. I shouldn't stray for what's needed, you're right." Hephaestus chuckled, raising his leathery looking hands up into the air before pulling out a hammer that seemed to weigh more than a several elephants.

I gulped and stepped forward, holding my hand out and grasping the hammer with the god. "I haven't done this in awhile..." I mumbled under my breath, hoping my eyes actually freeze like they're supposed to.

Ω Hiccup's POV Ω

Rapunzel, Merida and I all looked away as my father turned into his true form. Jack seemed a little uneasy about the process, which isn't exactly a good thing with the current situation.

"Nice!" Hephaestus exclaimed once everything was finished, though his tone faded into a more worried one. "Oh..."

I turned to see Jack curled up on the ground, pressing his palms against his eyes as he breathed heavily, sweat rolling off his temples.

"Jack!" I yelled in shock, running over to check if he was ok.  "Hey can you see?"

"I'm fine I just..." Jack tried to open his eyes but they barely opened a crack. His eyes were watery from the ice from the dryness, and also pretty red. "It burns..."

Rapunzel snapped out of her thoughts and rushed over, pulling a very long strand of her hair and wrapping it around his head, covering his eyes. After singing her little song, he began to calm down.

"Fortunately it's not too bad. If it were anyone else looking at a god directly like that he wouldn't have a head anymore." She said.

"That's comforting..." Jack grimaced as he had his head laid down on Rapunzel's lap.

I sigh and look up at my dad. "You're good now right?"

"Yup." He said, not really caring about what he did to Jack. "I'll be off now."

I frown as I watched him disappear before looking back down at Jack.

"I'll have to heal him for a bit longer... So if you and Merida could help us get information on Khione, that'd be much appreciated." Rapunzel said as she patted some sweat away from Jack's head with her sleeve.

I nodded and gestured for Merida to follow me. "Right. I might know someone who can help... I hope."

Merida took one last look at Jack before jogging to my side. "Call via iris message if you need us." She nodded before we both took our leave.

After a moment of silence she finally spoke up. "Who are we seeing?"

"A demigod that left camp half blood awhile ago. I wasn't much of a friend of his but he knew how to find people..." I answered, looking down at my fake foot.

"What's his name?"

I looked up at her with a smile. "Hans."

Ω Elsa's POV Ω

"Are there any traitors besides Hans?" Will asked after we were done handing him over to Chiron, or at least he and Nico did while I hid away from the centaur.

"Not that I know of..." I sigh, tapping my fingers against the hilt of my sword. "I hope not. If there is I'm terribly sorry.."

Nico kept his eyes on me as we all walked up to the top of halfblood hill, passing by Thalia's tree, and back down to the street. "Do you even know where you're going right now?"

"Of course." I narrow my eyes as I stopped at the road. "We're going to stop Jack from going to see Khione. And warn him that there was in fact a traitor... And tell him to forget the quest and just go and see Eugene."

"So we're going to ignore the people that captured Eugene, and let them start another war?" Nico pressed, not breaking his glare on me.

"No...yes? Maybe? I don't know. First we have to get to Jack and the others. That comes first." I bit my lip. "I already called a taxi."

Will looked down the street, looking out for our ride. "This is too complicated and I'm not a fan of it but I know that there is no use in trying to come up with another plan, so I'll be quiet."

I give him a sarcastic smile and we all stayed quiet until the taxi pulled up in front of us. "Alright... Time to go." I sigh, letting them climb into the backseat together as I joined the driver in the front. "Warehouse district near Central Park."

"Seriously?" The driver raised an eyebrow.

"Yes." I snap at him. "This isn't a game. Now drive ok?"

He only shrugged like a typical mortal before starting to drive to our destination.

In the back I heard will snort from the previous scene. "This is actually going to be an amusing day..."
