Chapter 12: Don't Ever Leave Me, Please!
Author's Note: I'm sorry! I'm in a rush since I need sleep so enjoy!
—-----------------------------Sean's perspective-------------------------------
"P-Please don't hurt me," the girl says with bright navy blue eyes.
I thought Zander would snap at her. I was expecting him to just be mad at her. It's not surprising that he would do anything that's harsh. Instead I saw him softly saying with his hands up, "We aren't going to do anything like that. Promise since we are trapped like you."
"A-Are you a Innaturalis?"
"I am. The rest are not Innaturalis," Drew replied.
"I am an Innaturalis. I'm a Fortis, meaning I'm a dragon."
"I'm an Aeternitas, a mix of a Chimera and Phoenix."
"What's your name?" I ask.
"I'm Maira Lightfoot. Everyone calls me Ember though."
"Alright Ember, I don't know what's going to happen but we'll do our best to protect you," I say, kneeling down at her.
She looks at me as I stick my hand out. Ember then holds it and gets up. Honestly, she looks like she's been broken a lot.
"How old are you?" Zander asks, still being gentle and soft.
"I'm 15 years old," Ember replies.
"Let me guess, Rosemeadow High?" Jake asks.
"Yeah, how'd you guess?"
"We are graduates of that high school. Is Ms. Jones still nervous?"
"Well, she gets nervous a lot but there is an assistant teacher that helps."
"Once you're done with all of that, we need to escape right now," Zander said bluntly.
"There is no escaping them. I've ran and ran but I've been caught every single time."
"This time we will make sure that we escape," Jake said firmly.
"After all, I'm not wasting my time in a prison when I have a daughter to raise."
And so we get back to planning; this time Ember helps and explains what works and doesn't work out.
—---------------------------Cat's perspective----------------------------------
When I wake up, I get up sweating from the nightmare I had about my Dad. I look around and see that I'm in bed. Someone had tucked me into bed. At the side, I see my other Dad sleeping with his head resting on the mattress. He slowly wakes up then says, "Cat, thank God you're ok."
"Daddy!" I say, hugging him, "I have something to tell you. I'm not 8 years old. I'm 12 years old. I was afraid that you would not take me in because of certain reasons."
My Dad looked at me with his concerned bright yellow eyes that were the equivalent to the sun. "Oh my Catty girl, me and your Dad will love you no matter what. We will never care whether you are 4, tall, dumb, or anything like that. All we wanted was a kid and you were the missing piece in our lives."
He kissed me on the forehead and hugged me. I hugged back, feeling the warmth of the love and affection. Aunt Hailey entered the room with a knowing look. I knew that she had listened in on my big secret. She then left me a sandwich and gently said, "Cat, by chance could you tell us about what had happened last night?"
I pause and remember my dream. It gives me tears and I'm trying to shut it out. Aunt Hailey notices it and doesn't push me. Instead she says, "Your teacher is here by the way. I bet she would love to see you."
And so they leave as Ms. Elrod enters the room. "Hi Cat, I was worried about you but your Dad was worried the most out of us."
"So you knew my Daddies and Aunt along with their friends?"
"Yes, me and a close friend of mine had been their friends. I'd rather not spill what had happened, but before I even met them there was only one person I wanted to be friends with."
"Was that the Daddy that got kidnapped?"
"Yeah, your Dad was strong. I saw him fight through all of the people that scorned both him and your aunt. He was protective of your aunt too. Moreover, one of the most loving people I know."
"He never gave me hugs, kisses, or did anything that my other Daddy does."
"Your Dad has a complex way of saying that he loves you. He never was great at showing or expressing love or friendship; however, underneath that aggressive and antisocial personality he was actually a person that cared and loved with all his heart."
I never thought that he had all this love and compassion deep down inside. It was an eye opener for me. This was probably the reason why I took a shaky breath in and let out what had happened with tears pouring down my cheeks.
"W-What if I never get to see my Daddy? Then he'll never know how much I love him. Sometimes we would fight because I thought he never cared for me," I shakily say.
"I promise you that it'll take more than that to shake your Dad up," Ms. Elrod comforts.
"You can tell your friends. They deserve to know."
"I will. Thank you Cat."
"For what? I was a coward. I couldn't even save my Dad."
"For being brave enough to come here, reuniting some friends who I would've never thought would be friends with ever, and being my favorite student that always does the right thing even when it's hard."
That meant the world to me. No teacher has praised me like Ms. Elrod. And so she walked out of the room, and for the first time in what felt like forever I smiled.
—--------------------------------The next day-----------------------------------
"Wow, I never thought that we would ever work together," the familiar blonde said as she walked with us and held Lia's hand.
Zoey, who had changed the most out of Carmi's friend group, had offered help along with Lia. The cheerful duo despised AI so they wouldn't take no for an answer.
"So who is this very good hacker?" I ask.
"Don't worry, Hailey. He's super good and I think I'd know if he was a fake."
And so we entered and immediately Carmi growled along with the Homies, Sadie, and Daisy. "No way are we relying on a cheat that can barely even be called a man!"
I then realized that it was the former sugar daddy that she had cheated Drew with. "Woah girl, I've changed! I'm more mature now."
They scoff and roll their eyes as Zoey said, "Pan, we need your help locating Zander."
And so he was on the job as Carmi was giving him a death stare. She hated him like heck. "Hm, they seem to be at a place called Sunny Valley."
That was when we dashed off. Something didn't ring right with Carmi. She was visibly showing it. As we almost reached there she said, "Don't go in there! Just stalk from the windows."
And so we peeked and saw a light green haired guy. He was pacing around impatiently while waiting for what was supposed to be us.
"That's Mo. He would've apprehended us if we had gone through there."
"Do you think-"
"No, Caspian may be a gold digger but he isn't someone to follow anyone. Most likely he was threatened by death if he didn't comply."
That had answered my question before it was even asked. She was good at this stuff probably because of her expertise in mastering her powers. Carmi had definitely grown from high school and college. Too bad we weren't there to see her grow up.
She slowly and carefully let down one of the windows and we heard Mo say, "That stupid idiot said that he was great at deception, damn it! He even said that he could convince his ex-girlfriends! The blundering moron was right about one thing though: deception is his thing, especially when it comes to me offering 7 million dollars."
Mo kept mumbling on how it was a waste of time to even be there. And so he then went and we stalked him to find out where our friends were. It was a good thing Cat was at school because she would have hesitated to follow him. Eventually we entered the base and we split to find our friends.
—-------------------------Carmi's perspective---------------------------------
After I had saved my friends from getting captured, we were one step closer to saving our friends. For some reason though, my chest hurts after hearing Sean's name. I want to be with him more than Henry for some reason. Why? It's killing me because I'm already Henry's girlfriend.
"Hey Carmi, can I talk to you?"
It was Henry and he looked worried. I nodded and moved to him. "I know that Sean really loves you and you love Sean even though you deny it. If you want to be with him then I'm willing to risk our relationship."
I closed my eyes before saying, "Thank God, I actually do love him."
"It's alright because what's done was done so you deserve him."
"Thank you, in return you can be my best friend."
And so we did a final kiss to seal the end of our relationship. I hugged him, not wanting him to go. "Don't worry, we'll still be friends," Henry said, rubbing my shoulder.
"Hey guys, I found them!"
Hailey had found them. I first greet Jake with a hug and then shake him while saying, "Why? Why did you try something stupid like that?"
He just laughed and said, "I was doing stuff like this so that Drew and you could live your lives without worrying about AI."
"Jake, you're throwing away your life for me?!"
"Hey, you're my Star Lady. I needed you to live without fear."
And so I left Hailey to reconcile with Jake. Meanwhile, I look at Sean and he definitely grew. His thick black hair was still messy with round black eyes that glowed. He was still the tallest of the group and handsome.
"I'm sorry, Carmi. I was an idiot and-"
I cut him off with a kiss. He was taken aback but kissed back. "I thought you had a boyfriend."
"We broke up because Henry could tell that I loved you more."
Sean looked happy and so then he said, "Well then that means that you're my girlfriend."
"I have a feeling that we will get along more than well."
And so we peek out to see that Hailey and Jake have made up and apparently are boyfriend/girlfriend now.
—----------------------------A few minutes ago--------------------------------
Hailey and Jake locked eyes. Both were unreadable but knew one thing: they were both going to apologize.
"I'm sorry," they said at the same time.
And so the adults laughed. "You didn't change that much did you, Jake?" Hailey said, smiling.
"Nope, hope you didn't either Princess," Jake said smiling.
And so it was silent until Jake then said, "Hailey Austin, even when you kicked me out I had still loved you for who you are. I had to do it secretly because I didn't want Carmi to get the idea. You were the only woman in my mind throughout my life, so what I'm trying to say is will you be my girlfriend? I hope eventually we will go deeper into our relationship."
Hailey was silent. Jake was silently praying that she would say yes. Eventually she said, "Jake Sterling, you were a jerk. At least you seemed like a jerk. I judged based only on what I heard. I should've known that you had silent pressure from Drew and the other Homies. So the answer is yes! I love you too!"
Jake then kissed her and Hailey kissed back willingly. After that they hugged each other and it was the best moment in the world for the two adults.
Present moment
—--------------------------Zander's perspective-------------------------------
I was stalking Hailey just to make sure that she's ok (it's totally normal). Yes, don't tell her or else she'll get embarrassed (and she might find out that I recorded the freaking thing). Then I notice a familiar looking girl. Then I realized that it's Athora and that she was going to grab my sister.
"Back off lady! That's my sister you're about to abduct!" I say, surprising both Hailey and Jake.
"Athora?!" Jake and Hailey said at the same time.
"That's right, you didn't think I came close to you just because I wanted to be friends right?" Athora scoffed.
"Actually no, I suspected you from the start."
"Which part made you suspect?"
"The fact that you claim to have come from Jasmine High but Jasmine High has 100% prissy princesses and 0% actually smart people."
"Oh right, I forgot that you were gay."
"It has nothing to do with the fact that I'm gay because it has something to do with the fact that I'm European. Jasmine High's style is sort of like England, where I was born and raised until I was 6 years old."
Athora was shocked as Hailey elbowed her hard enough to knock her out 2 inches before my feet. "Aw, look who's falling for me now. Unfortunately for you, I'm both gay and European so I'm not the right style for you."
I smirk as Hailey and Jake look at me impressed. "I know, you'll all be wanting my autograph now."
"Actually, I was waiting for you to stop so that we can get moving. Mo is on our trail now!"
And again my praise is not there because of stupid Mo. Jake should be grateful I helped him and didn't let him abduct his big head. But then we stumble upon a familiar face.
"Milly move! We need to-"
And there he was. The shyest guy blocking our way with his bookish glasses magnifying his sweet brown eyes. Elliot Thornton.
