Chapter 58: The Ancillary Teachers

Izaak had his fingers laced as he hid half of his face behind them.
The blonde saw how Akihito looked a lot more relaxed in his sleep.
"I don't know how he got it into his system, but Kaede-kun has a very rare poison."
Izaak frowned.
'He only told me that he was sick.....but a poison?  Who did it to him?'
Bang, bang!
"Oooooi~open the door!"
"We want to see the sickly green-haired kid!"
Izaak growled lowly as a few sparks of electricity rolled off of his body.
'I'm gonna kill them....'
"Yawn....Ah?  It's the afternoon..."
Izaak straightened up quickly when he saw his best friend sitting up; the blonde couldn't quite suppress the grin that made its way to his lips.
"You little poop-head."
Akihito blinked his eyes in surprise as he turned his head to see Izaak sitting on a stool by his bed.
"...Izaak...?  What happened?"
The blonde sighed.
"You coughed up blood again." Akihito froze. "And everyone saw."
The greenette sighed, placing his hands over his face as he groaned.
"By the way...you only told me that you were sick...not poisoned."
The greenette tensed up once more.
"Well.....that's gonna be a bit hard to explain..."
Blam!
"We have successfully broke the door!"
"Yosh!"
"You idiots!  What are you doing to the castle!?"
"Th-The King will p-probably be-behead us!"
"Ah meu Deus!" (Oh my goodness!)
".....Esto es tan molesto" (.....This is so troublesome.)
Izaak glared at the newcomers.
"He's trying to sleep, dang it!"
Akihito sweatdropped and placed a comforting hand on Izaak's shoulder.
"Maa, I'm awake anyways, so it's fine..."
The brunet with pink-dyed hair grinned widely.
"Sup, kiddo!  You feeling better, bruh?"
Akihito sweatdropped once more.
''Bruh'?' "Yes...?"
Then the shorter with sea-green-dyed hair made a peace sign as he climbed onto the taller's back.
"Alright!  Intro~ductions~!"
The brunet man made an archer-like pose as the ravenet made two peace signs as he stood on the taller's shoulder.
"Yo!  My name is Heath Aiden!"
The brunet grinned wider.
"And I am Assenberg Rasmus!"
Rasmus grabbed Aiden's leg and swung him up into the air.
Crack!
Akihito sweatdropped when Aiden's head....hit the ceiling.
Rasmus didn't seem to notice as he grinned brightly and saluted the greenette.
"And together we are the Unpredictable Duo--uwoh!?  Aiden!?  What happened to you!?"
Aiden smiled dizzily as his eyes became spirals.
"I can see my great, great grandma."
Akihito sweated.
'That's bad, isn't it?  Was Assenberg-san supposed to catch Heath-san in mid air or something?  The room is too small...'
While those two were panicking, Akihito turned his attention to the other adults that were there.
The one with maroon hair smiled nervously as he fidgeted with the goggles on his head.
He wore a ripped, brown jacket with baggy, black pants that had a few oil stain on them, including fingerless gloves and brown boots; Akihito noted that there was a tool belt around the man's waist.
"É muito bom conhecê-lo.  Meu nome é Fausto Ribeiro." (It is very nice to meet you. my name is Fausto Ribeiro.)
Akihito smiled brightly.
"É um prazer conhecê-lo também, Sr. Ribeiro." (It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Ribeiro.)
Fausto blushed slightly as he blinked his teal eyes in surprise.
"Fausto está bem." (Fausto is fine.)
Akihito grinned before turning his attention to the aloof-looking man behind Fausto.
The redhead wore a black headband that had the hiragana 'ゆ' in the center.  The cloth shadowed his amber eyes as they seemed to look into Akihito's soul.
The redhead wore a simple black t-shirt with navy-blue jeans.
He blinked his amber eyes before nodding his head slightly as a greeting.
"Acre Alexander.  Nice to meet you, kid."
Akihito smiled in return.
"It's nice to meet you too, Acre-Sensei."
The redhead huffed softly.
"...Alex is fine, kid."
And then a head of pink popped out from behind Alexander; she chewed on her lower lip nervously.
"K-Konichiwa, Kaede-san."
The said greenette tilted his head curiously at her before grinning at the rosette.
"Yo!  You're the one that helped me to recover.  Thanks for that by the way."
The rosette blushed and bowed.
"N-NotatallKaede-sanId-didn'td-doanything!" (N-Not at all Kaede-san.  I d-didn't d-do anything!)
Akihito was able to understand her rambling with his sharp hearing; he chuckled at how nervous she was.
'Haha!  Just like Hinode-Imouto...' "Maa, you saved me.  And for that, I'm grateful to you."
The rosette blushed once more, looking at the ground shyly.
"What's your name anyways?"
She lifted her head quickly and blushed harder.
"Hi-Hi-Himura Mo-Moriko!"
Akihito grinned brightly.
"It's nice to meet you, Himura-chan."
The rosette looked like she had her face painted with red.
"Mo-Mo-Moriko is fine, Kaede-san!"
"Then you can call me Akihito."
The rosette went into a bout of stuttering again.
Iseul walked up to Akihito and placed a hand on his forehead.
"Hm...good.  Your fever has dispelled." The ravenette pulled out a stethoscope from her coat pocket. "How are you feeling?"
She gently placed the metal circle on his chest as she listened to his heartbeat.
Akihito grinned.
"Better, Park-Sensei." The greenette let a thoughtful expression flit across his face. "...Lighter too actually..."
Iseul raised an eyebrow at the choice of words.
"'Lighter'?  Like it's easier to breathe?"
The greenette scratched the back of his hard and smiled shyly.
"Something like that..." 'No...my flames....they feel like they're flowing through every part of my body.  It feels so...refreshing...'
Hannah sat on the other side of Akihito's bed, crossing her arms as she frowned faintly.
"...I'm sorry..."
Akihito blinked in surprise and confusion as the snownette continued to speak.
"If Bloodlust didn't get to you, I bet you wouldn't have had to go through all of that pai--"
Poke.
Everyone looked at the greenette in shock; Hannah had a hand on her forehead as she looked at Akihito incredulously.
".....Did you just....poke my forehead?"
Realizing what he had done--to an adult no less--Akihito blushed and face-palmed himself.
"Ah--e-eto.....gomen!" The greenette laughed nervously as he dropped his hand back onto his lap. "It's a habit, ya' know?  My friends sometimes blames themselves for something they had nothing to do with--seriously!" The teen scratched the back of his head. "Gomen, Hannah-Sensei..."
The snownette gave an amused look to Akihito as she dropped her hand from her forehead.
"I see.....so you forgive me?"
Akihito laughed.
"What's there to forgive?  You don't need to apologize for anything!  But I should say thank you for saving me when I was in a tight spot!"
Hannah blinked in surprise before giving a small, warm smile to the other.
"Thanks."
Akihito then tilted his head as he looked at the other adults.
"I heard that you are all...'Ancillary Teachers'?  What are your subjects?"
Alexander spoke first.
"We don't exactly teach all of the time.  We provide extra classes for those who have other strengths."
There was a flash of red on his shoulder, and an orange tomcat was present.
Alexander reached a hand up and stroked the head of the cat with fondness.
"This is Fernán.  My subject is Spirit Animal training."
Akihito blinked his eyes in surprise before turning his gaze to the others; Iseul sighed as she stepped forward slightly.
"I know you can already tell that I'm a doctor.  My subject is medicine and basic healing."
Fausto stepped up next, smiling nervously.
"Eu sou um engenheiro.  A mecânica é meu assunto." (I'm an engineer. Mechanics is my subject.)
And then Akihito turned to look at the Unpredictable Duo; they were posing again, causing the greenette to sweatdrop.
Rasmus made a peace sign along with Aiden as they spoke at the same time.
"We....are......" The two grinned. "....your...librarians!"
Akihito blinked owlishly.  Izaak deadpanned the two; his electric-green eyes just said...'what the he**'.
The greenette laughed nervously.
"Haha....how....unpredictable."
The two adults grinned.
"Thank you~!  And we'll teach you kiddies about lots and lots of info you might not know about the world.  The library's open 24/7!"
Akihito laughed again as Izaak continued to deadpan those two.
"Haha, arigatou!"

"Yeah, yeah.  You don't need to chew me out.  Geez, Merlo-sama."
Bloodlust paused.
He wasn't holding a phone, but there was some sort of black mirror floating in front of him.
"Don't be so mad--ah?  You're sending Jester over here?  Aw, come on, Merlo-sama!  I can handle this by mysel--you're sending Jester over to just keep me in line?  The old coot is more nuts than I am!  I--..........fine."
Bloodlust pouted childishly at the mirror before a thought came to him.
"By the way, I saw that Kaede Akihito kid that you always talk about.  How's he doing?  He looks like deadweight to me.  He probably won't last any longer with that poisonin his system."
Little did the ravenet know...that the greenette was already healed of his poison.

<<(Back in Akihito's Room)>>
//(Nighttime)//
Autumn-red eyes cracked open; Akihito heard soft snores and slow breathing.
Blinking confusedly, Akihito sat up on his bed, glancing around the moonlit room.
The greenette widened his eyes in surprise before smiling softly.
He saw his team there; Allegra was sleeping right next to him.
Akihito chuckled lightly.
Slowly, his smile faded as he looked at his hands.
Ba-dump.
Akihito felt his flames.
They were pulsing--right underneath his skin.
Ba-dump.
It wasn't an unwelcomed feeling.
Akihito actually liked it; the greenette grinned.
'Looks like my true power is back...'
