Chapter 3 ~ My Birth~
I plan to start my life story the only place it could start, the beginning. The day I was born.
It was a beautiful sunny summer day in Auradon. July 31st to be exact. My family was enjoying a lunchtime picnic on the grounds of Auradon Castle. My mom popping strawberries into her mouth and devouring jelly donuts. "And as Arthur pulled the sword from the stone, the whole kingdom called his name, declaring him King of Camelot." My grandmother, Belle, read aloud to my mother.
Meanwhile, Aunt Jane practiced simple spells she hoped could help her with her daughter that would be born in a few months. (My dad had changed the magic law to allow small simple spells) She also listened as Belle read about King Arthur aloud, watching her husband (Uncle Carlos) chase their small brown dog around the courtyard.
Aunt Audrey cradled her handsome (not my words) four-month old son, Adrian, in her arms. She was happy he was such a pleasant baby. He hardly ever cried and his laughter would light up their home every day. Audrey pondered how he looked so much like his father (Uncle Jay), but looked so much like a tiny prince at the same time.
Aunt Evie and Uncle Doug sat and cooed at their beautiful baby daughter, Sapphira. The small baby looked up at her parents with her big blue eyes. She patted at the gemstone mobile her grandfather and great-uncles had made her.
My father, Uncle Jay, and my grandfather were talking about the Fighting Knights' latest tourney victory. My father thought the winning move was the Shield of Virtue. Meanwhile, Uncle Jay thought it was the Magic Carpet Ride. Of course, my grandfather, Beast, disagreed with both of them and though it was the Excalibur. (When you grow up with your dad as an ex-tourney captain, you know some terminology)
The lovely pcinic was nearly as perfect as it could be, with sunny clear skys, and warm weather. My parents say that they only thing that could've made that day better would be having me there. But, that's kind of cheesy.
It was time for everyone to have lunch. So, they all left their blankets laid out across the grass, and headed towards the big tent for their food. The lunch was like a huge banquet styled into a buffet. The ladies went and picked out their lunch first. Then all of the men walked up and piled food onto their plates. Let's not forget that some scraps were gathered for Dude. Everybody sat down to enjoy their lunch. That particular time was filled with laughter and conversation.
Suddenly, my mom became silent. My dad looked at her worriedly. After seeing this interaction, everyone else became confused. Then they all realized what was happening. Mal was going to have her baby!
"We have to get her to the hospital, quick!" shouted my grandmother.
"Somebody get a car!" called my grandfather.
Meanwhile, my father rushed to my mother's side.
"Mal, are you okay?" he asked.
"Ben, I am having the baby! I don't know if I'm okay!"
Then, Uncle Jay pulled up with the car. My parents piled in, and then they speed to the hospital. My grandmother had called the hospital, and the nurses were busy preparing for the new princess, me.
"Queen Mal is coming!" a nurse called.
"Get the doctor ready!" called another.
Soon, my mom and dad arrived at the hospital. The nurses whisked my mother away to her hospital room. My dad and Uncle Jay sat in the waiting room, until the nurses said that my father could go in.
~A few hours later~
My father held me as a tiny sleeping baby in his arms. "She's so beautiful." he whispered to my mother.
"I wonder where she gets the red hair." my mother pondered while looking at my red curls. "Would you want to see if your parents can come in now?" The rest of my family came to the hospital a while ago, although no one had seen my mom or me, yet.
"Okay." my dad said. Soon after, my grandparents came in to the room. My grandmother came over to my mother and smiled at me, while my grandfather smiled from a distance.
"Would you like to hold her, Belle?" my mother asked quietly. My grandmother nodded.
"What's her name?" she asked.
"Delilah Flora Adamma." my father replied.
"She's lovely." my grandfather said. He walked over to my grandmother and looked at me. "Hey there Delilah." he cooed.
"She is very beautiful." agreed my grandmother. "But, where does she get that red hair?"
"We have no idea." said my mother.
"We are thinking it could be from Mal's fraternal side of the family." said my dad.
"That could make sense." replied my grandfather. The nurse then walked in.
"Excuse me, Your Highness. Would you like for me to send some more of your guests in?" she asked.
"Yes, please." my mom responded quietly.
"Who would you like?"
"Could Evie, Jay, and Carlos come in?"
"I'll go get them."
"Thank you." both of my parents said at the same time. Soon, Aunt Evie, Uncle Jay, and Uncle Carlos walked into the room quietly.
"Look at my beautiful little god-daughter." Aunt Evie cooed.
"Another pretty little niece." said Uncle Jay.
"What's her name?" asked Uncle Carlos.
"Delilah." replied my dad.
"It's a lovely name." sighed Aunt Evie.
"Thank you." my mom said smiling.
"I hope all of our kids are best friends like us." said Uncle Carlos. Everybody else nodded in agreement with him.
"I'm so glad that our daughter will have good friends like you guys." my father told the new parents, and soon-to-be father.
"Definitely." my mom agreed.
"That's all I could wish for for Sapphira." stated Aunt Evie.
"It would be great for Adrian as well. Even if he's the only guy." joked my Uncle Jay. A few minutes later, everyone else came into the room.
"She's very pretty." said Aunt Audrey.
"Maybe, I'll have another little lab helper." cooed Uncle Doug.
"Doubt it, Doug." muttered Aunt Evie.
"What did you say, Evie?" he asked.
"Nothing." she replied.
"Maybe she'll inherit your magic. Three generations with magic would be impressive." said Aunt Jane.
"Maybe." responded my mother. Uncle Doug and Aunt Audrey put down their babies in the corner. The two small children looked over at Delilah and laughed. That put a smile on everyone's faces.
"They're headed off on a great start." my mother said cheerfully. A nurse came into the room
"Excuse me, Queen Mal, you and the baby probably need some rest, now. If your visitors wouldn't mind leaving, that would be ideal. King Ben, can stay of course." the nurse whispered.
"Oh, okay. I'll see you guys later." called my mom. And with that everybody got ready to go home, and leave the queen and new princess to rest.
