Everything had been going well. Sophie had mostly recovered from her fathers death. She didn't spend every second of every minute of every hour of every day thing about him.

Aiko, however, wasn't faring too well. It didn't take long for her to grasp the concept that Mori was gone, wasn't coming back.

It was ten months later when she woke up from a nightmare and he wasn't there to hold her until her tears stopped flowing that it hit her.

Daddy is gone.

She cried for hours, not letting anyone but Honey and Daiki in to see her. Sophie stood at her door for an hour on the brink of tears, watching and waiting for her to open up.

She never did.

Aiko refused to acknowledge Sophie for a month until she accidentally called her mom when asking for a snack.

"What?" Sophie had asked, startled.

"Sophie. I said Sophie-senpai."

"Mom and Sophie-senpai sound nothing alike." Aiko growled, pushing a strand of black hair behind her ear.

"I said it in English."

"They don't sound alike in English either. Look, it's alright to call me that on accident." Sophie repeated the words Renge had spoken to her years ago. "It doesn't mean your forgetting your dad."

"I know, it just feels disrespectful is all." Sophie smiled as she stuck the frozen pizza in the oven.

"The day being a child is disrespectful is the day chickens fly."
