"Jeremy stop! You're overreacting!" Elena half yelled.

"Overreacting! Overreacting!! No Elena... You saved my life by risking your own! Now it's my turn to save yours. So I'm gonna go kill that douche bag!" Jeremy fought back.

"It wasn't... You don't owe me anything! You don't have to do this!" She said blocking his path.

"Is that what you think? That I'm doing this as some kind of repayment? Well I'm not! Did it ever occur to you that I just don't want to lose you.. The same way you don't wanna lose me! Because you and I... That's all we have. So we have to fight for each other no matter what. And on top of all that. I want to do this." He reasoned.

"Then let's do it. Let's fight him together. As family. Jeremy... Please?" She pleaded, feeling a little stronger than she had a moment ago, signaling that Kai had stopped drawing on her power momentarily.

"Okay. We'll take him down as team. Now let's go do this!" He agreed, more determined than ever.

Reaching the woods, there was no sign of Kai anywhere. So they decided to go to the one place they knew they could corner him. His old, abandoned childhood home.

It was a secluded area with nothing for miles. But it was the one place they knew he'd be vulnerable. This time they were both certain. Kai Parker was going down..... and they weren't about to go gentle either.

It took only seconds for Kai to show up. Though this time he wasn't quite prepared for what they had in store for him. As soon as he set foot on the land, he was greeted with a dagger to his back.

"Ooh. De Ja Vou! I like it."Kai sneered menacingly angry as he pulled the dagger from his back by siphoning Elena's vampirism magic.

"That's just one out of a million hits jackass!"Jeremy retorted, grabbing Kai in the tightest grip he could manage, breaking his focus.

"Elena! Dagger! Now!"Jeremy ordered.

With that, she reached for the dagger, grabbing it and plunging it into what she thought was Kai's heart.

"Nice try shortcake. But you missed."Kai chuckled evilly then began chanting, throwing her back, which gave him time to headbutt Jeremy, causing his grip to break.

"Isn't this a shocker... Hansel and Gretel coming to take down the nasty witch..."He joked, grabbing hold of Elena's foot, dragging her across the floor.

"Let her go!" Jeremy demanded, making a charge for the childlike man and bringing him to the floor.

"Now how do we kill him?"Jeremy asked, still wrestling with Kai.

Without responding, Elena grabbed the dagger, clutching it tightly, as Jeremy allowed her room at the same time as pinning Kai down, looking into his eyes, Elena saw a flicker of fear before she plunged the dagger into his heart.

Finally, the light faded from his eyes and his head tilted. With shaking hands, she closed his eyes and rose to her feet, Jeremy rising in sync.

"We did it! We killed that physco freak!"Jeremy said in a sigh of relief.

"I couldn't have done it without you."Elena responded, equally relieved.

Kicking Kai's lifeless body aside, Jeremy pulled her into a tight hug.

"Does this mean that you're done with hunting?"Elena asked curiously.

"No. There's always going to be some other threat."Jeremy replied, tightening the hug.

"Someone has to fight for this family." He said determinedly.

"No Jer, we fight for each other." Elena corrected him.
