Where's The Justice?
Meanwhile, sitting at a cafe in Heaven was a teenage boy with black hair with indigo streaks, hazel eyes, and was wearing a dark gray shirt, black sweater, gray pants, and black shoes. His name was Hisirdoux Casperan or "Douxie" for short, Nora's brother.
Douxie is actually the lost soul's guardian angel that the high Seraphim chose to protect them. However, when he went to check up on them he saw them arguing and worrying about their future in the afterlife.
"I just don't get it, why can't the souls just hang out up here?" Douxie asked the other angel that was sitting with him. "I get it, they're lost. But that shouldn't matter, they're still good souls that deserve to be up here."
There was no response, only the sound of slurping and eating. When Douxie looked over at the angel, he rolled his eyes. "Adam!" He shouted trying to get the angel's attention.
"Huh? Oh I didn't realize you were talking to me." The angel known as Adam said as he sipped on his drink some more. "What were you saying?"
"Why do I even bother?" Douxie said as he rolled his eyes. "You never listen to me anyway."
"That's because I don't have to listen to little bitches like you." Adam said in a snarky tone. "Seriously, you're in heaven! Enjoy your time here, instead of worrying about those loser souls."
"Lost souls."
"That's what I said."
"I'm not just a winner worrying about lost souls, Adam. I was given an important job, by Sera I might add, to protect them." Douxie explained with a sigh of disbelief. "I need to give them hope and help them cross over. I think that's important enough for you to listen to me."
"Look, Douxie, you're a pretty okay guy." Adam said honestly as he put down his cup. "But what the f*ck do I have anything to do with this?"
"I was hoping you'd help me get into a meeting with the high Seraphim." Douxie said as he raised an eyebrow. "As an excrosist you're practically her right hand man, right?"
"Not to brag but. . .yeah." Adam said with a cocky smirk. "Sera and I are pretty close."
"So, could you get me a meeting with her?" Douxie asked. There was no response as Adam just smirked and sipped his drink. "Maybe I need to say it in a way you'll understand. Stop acting like you're the shit and do something nice in your damn afterlife for once!"
Adam spit out his drink in shock at the way Douxie was talking to him. Nobody, not even Lute, had talked to him that way. But that shock quickly turned to anger.
"You better watch your f*cking mouth bitch. And don't you forget who I am, the first man and father to humanity!" Adam said as he got up in Douxie's face. "I can have you thrown out of heaven for insubordination, threatening another winner, or just because I feel like it."
"I'll spread news about the extermination to everyone in heaven." Douxie said with a cocky smirk on his face.
"Wait, how did you-" Adam started to ask as he was shocked once again by the response. However, he knew that could be risky whether they believed Douxie or not. "F*cking damn it, Hisirdoux!"
Finally, Douxie found himself at the front door of the Seraphim's office. Despite being a little nervous, he shook it off and took a deep breath as he opened the door.
When he stepped in the office, Douxie saw the high Seraphim, the young Seraphim, Saint Peter, and other angels on the council.
"Why, hello, Hisirdoux." Sera greeted, with a smile. "Adam said you wanted to see me? Something about the lost souls?"
"Uh, yes, that is exactly why I'm here." Douxie said nervously as the doors shut behind him. "I was wondering if there is anything we can do to help the lost souls."
"What do you mean?" Sera asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Okay, I know it's my job to help them figure out their unfinished business so they can cross over." Douxie said honestly. "But there's only so much I can do for them from up here. Like maybe let them stay here?"
Sera just sighed in disappointment and shook her head. "Hisirdoux, you know that's not possible."
"But why not? I know they're good souls they deserve to be up here." Douxie argued. "The real people who need to be punished are the bastards that killed them!"
"Again, that's beyond our control." Sera said seriously. "I wish we could help them. Trust me on that if I could then I would."
"Why can't we just kill them ourselves?" Douxie asked which made the whole room gasp in shock at such a question. "What? It's called justice, an eye for an eye!"
"I understand where you're coming from, but there will be consequences." Sera explained. "If you go down there and take the life of a human soul. . .you'll forever be cast out of Heaven."
"Go ahead then, cast me out of heaven!" Douxie said seriously as he started to get a little angry with the Seraphim. "But I will find a way to get justice for these souls if you won't!"
At that cue, music started to play and Douxie began to sing.
Douxie: "Where is the justice
When the guilty all go free?
Why don't we lock them up
And throw away the key?"
Sera: "I see a young man's
anger burning in your eyes"
Douxie; "What you see is my impatience
With your noble compromise
Show me what's right about
The wrongs that we allow
Real people need to feel
Protected here and now
This whole damn system's
broken way beyond repair
It's just law not law and order
Not much good and seldom fair"
Sera: "Laws are made for everyone
We're treated all the same"
Douxie: "Till a lawyer's tricks
can fix the blame
What about the victims
Waiting for some justice?
How can we turn away
And say that's just
the way things are?
What about the families
Hiding in their houses
All of them, afraid to walk
the street at night
With all their doors locked tight
Tell me where is the justice?
If there's any justice!"
Sera: "Your simple arguments
have all been made before
The world's not black and white
The choice not either or"
Douxie: "Perhaps it's time
we drain the color from within
Till we're back to seeing black and white
And wrong and right again
Sera: "Overwrought pronouncements
won't improve the paradigm"
Douxie: "Til lawyers cutting deals
becomes a crime
Let the corporations
Make the regulations
And hold no one accountable
When everything goes wrong
Let the rich and famous
Get away with murder
Every time a high-priced
Mouth-piece starts to talk
His client gets to walk
Tell me, where is the justice?
If there's any justice"
As he was singing, Douxie managed to get the other angels that were in the room to join him as well.
Winners: "Where's the justice?
Tell me where!"
Douxie: "Where is the justice?
For all the victims?
Where is the justice?
What good is law that can't
Punish those who break it?"
Emily: "Politicians
Make their speeches all day long
While judges pushing pencils
Mostly get it wrong"
Saint Peter: "Instead of loopholes
For the laws to fall between
Let some good old-fashioned pay-back
Grease the wheels of a machine"
Douxie: "Isn't everybody sick to
death of all this stuff?
Can't we all stand up
and say enough?"
Winners: "We've had enough
Justice, justice, justice,
now's the time for-"
Douxie: "Listen to the families
Hiding in their houses
All of them, afraid to walk
the streets at night
With all their doors locked tight
We must give them their justice"
Winners: "Where is the justice?"
Douxie: "We owe them some justice"
Winners: "Where is the justice?"
All (except Sera): "Where is the justice?!"
When the song was over Sera wasn't very happy as all the angels were on Douxie's side and they started to get angry and question Heaven.
"Hisirdoux Casperan! I don't appreciate this mess you have created!" Sera said seriously with fire in her eyes. "I here bye sentence you to the land of the lost souls until you can learn to control yourself!"
"What?! That's so unfair!" Douxie said in shock and disbelief. "I'm just trying to do my job as a guardian angel. A job that *you* gave me!"
"And you still have that job and title. You're just no longer allowed back in Heaven until you set these souls free." Sera explained seriously. "It's either that, or stay in the land of the lost forever. You're choice."
Angered, Douxie just scoffed in disbelief and threw his hands up in defeat. "Fine, I'll find a way to save these souls and get them what they deserve." Douxie said as he started to walk away. "You'll see, I find the loop holes in your little rules and those murders *will* pay!"
And just like that, Douxie walked out of the room leaving Emily, Sera, and Saint Peter alone.
"What was that about, Sera?" Emily asked, confused. "He's right you know?"
"I don't think it's my place to say, but yeah he kind of is." Saint Peter agreed. "He's only trying to do the job you gave him."
"I know I gave him this job." Sear said as she rolled her eyes. "He just. . .isn't going about it right."
"And how would you go about that?" Emily asked with a raised eyebrow. Sera just stayed silent for a moment before gesturing for everyone to leave.
"Meeting ajured." Sear said as she and everyone else left the room. Little did she know was that Douxie already had a plan up his sleeve as he knew exactly who could help him.
