Chapter 7

Last chapter...

"Bye Mr. Russia! I promise to come back soon!"

And he knew. She would come back. Eventually. Running back to his warm embrace, back to stay with him in his castle in the snow. She would be back.

Then why did it feel like he was saying goodbye for good?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Y/N) was now running as fast as she could trying to catch up to the two sisters.
Eventually, she saw the silhouette of Belarus and her older sister.
"Big Sister!" (Y/N) immediately called out. "Big Sister! Wait!" The two turned around; (y/n) was right next to them, catching her breath.
"Y-yes. What is it?" the older sister spoke. (Y/N) looked back to Belarus. Her eyes were red, but the skin around it wasn't puffy. She looked like she was suppressing tears. Her shoulders were slightly hunched over, and she looked like one hit and she would shatter into a million pieces. The look in her eyes were cold and distant as if she wasn't really there. She looked...broken. As if she had given up. As if she had given up on the world. And herself.
"I came back for Big Sister. I want to cheer her up."
"Um, I do not think that you can-"
"Go away. Stay with Bi-" Belarus shook her head. "Stay with Ivan. He will take care of you. At least he loves you."
(Y/N) looked back and forth between the two sisters for a moment.
"But he doesn't need me right now. Not really."
Belarus gave a cold laugh. "Yeah. I guess he doesn't need anyone. He certainly doesn't need me."
The small girl shook her head. "He needs you. He just doesn't know it yet. Please, Big Sister. I don't want to see you like this. And I know what it's like to feel alone. Please, Big Sister. Let me come with you." The girl gave a pleading tone.
Belarus gave the her an odd look. "You really aren't going to leave us alone unless we let you come with us?" (Y/N) shook her head.
She gave out a defeated sigh. "Alright, then. You may come along." (Y/N) gave a large smile.
"Natalia? Are you sure?" She nodded.
"Ok. Well, come along (Y/N). We're going to visit a few friends."
"Ooh. Who?"
"Well, their names are Elizabeta and Anri. I think you'll like them. They are very nice."
"Ok. So they're other girls?" Ukraine nodded.
"We will have to take a plane to get there, so we won't see them right away."
"Ok. I can't wait to meet them!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The plane ride was relatively quiet, especially because (Y/N) had fallen asleep promptly after taking off. The long day had worn her out, and without any breaks in between, it had used up all of her energy.

She dreamed of home. Of her past memories. She dreamed of the times where her family was together. She dreamed of the park, her playing on the playground with her parents watching her. She dreamed of ice skating in Central Park, her parents holding onto her hands as she glided on the ice. Next, she dreamed of movie night at home. A family movie was playing in the background. She was sitting on the couch in the warm embrace of her parents.

(Y/N) woke up. Her face was wet. She felt the tears stream down her face. The dream was happy, no, it was more bittersweet, more of a wistful feeling of nostalgia. (Y/N) longed to be with them. She longed for their warm embrace and their telling her that everything will be okay.

But how could she know that? How could she know, understand, trust anything again?

Her whole world had been shattered. Her entire existence was questioned.

These people would never replace her parents. They weren't her real family. They had taken her off of the street, given her clothes and food and warmth,  but they were not her parents. She would never belong with them.

"(Y/N)? Are you awake?" The girl turned her head.

"Yes, Miss Ukraine," she said in a quiet voice.

"Alright. We're about to leave the plane."

"Okay." Ukraine helped (Y/N) undo her buckle and get down from the chair. They walked together off off the plane, the little girl holding onto her hand. When (y/n) asked, Ukraine told hr that Belarus had already gotten off of the plane and was waiting for them.

"Now, (y/n). You are going to meet a few new people today. Don't worry they are very nice."

"Who are they, Miss Ukraine?"

"They are some girl friends of me and Natalia. There's Elizabeta, she is Hungarian, and Anri, she is Belgian." The two made their way to the airport waiting area. (Y/N) could see Natalia standing and talking with three other girls.

"Hello Elizabeta, Anri." Ukraine noticed the young girl next to them. She grinned.

"Hello, Lilli. I did not know you would be here." The girl, who seemed to be in her early teens, smiled shyly. She seemed nice, (y/n) concluded.

"Yes. I convinced Big Bruder that I should come to see you. Though I had to promise that I would not leave Miss Hungary's side." Ukraine just smiled, very familiar and accustomed to Lilli's brother's habits.

The brunette went over to Ukraine, no, to (y/n). She knelt down to the girl's level.

"Hello! My name is Elizabeta! I hear you are (y/n)?" she smiled. (Y/N) hid behind Ukraine, suddenly shy. She only nodded.

"Oh, it's alright! I don't bite! Well, except for mean little boys! You're not a mean little boy, are you? Cause if you are, I'll have to!" (Y/N) gave a little laugh.

"You're just kidding!" she said. Hungary just shook her head.

"Nope. It wouldn't be the first time I've beaten up a boy. I can take on all of them!" As if to prove it, she lifted her arms and pretended to flex.

"You're funny!" (Y/N) laughed. "I like you!"

"Well that's good, because I like you, too. If I just liked you, that'd be a real pickle, wouldn't it?"

"Alright, (y/n), Liz, we can all talk and get to know each other at the house, but right now we need to leave," the taller blonde spoke up. Hungary nodded. She smiled at the smallest girl.

"You coming with us, (y/n)?" She smiled back.

"Yeah! Let's go!"
