Duo to his demonic-like features and the fact that he's left handed, growing up in a religious town was extremely hard for Gilbert. Often times the villagers tried to drown him and/or burn him sense they did mistake him for a demon. But do to his immortality, when they tried to drown him, he'd just be sitting there, gasping for air for hours. And when they tried burn him, all he could do was feel the pain. Though he does have a few burns on his body because of this, mainly on his chest. Though the burn marks did get Forkert into overly doting parent mode for quite a while. Seeming that was his first time hearing that his son was going through such torture.
