Huh. So, I wondered today, what happens when half of a country is controlled by one nation, and the other half is controlled by the other? Like, when it was Germany, it made sense, because the West, Ludwig, was controlled by the Allies, and the East, Gilbert, became so-called Soviet Germany and was controlled by, surprise surprise, the Soviet Union. 

But what if it's a country that was never split into two? For example, Latvia and Estonia were at a point controlled by both Poland and Sweden, and Canada was controlled by both France and England for a good amount of time. So how does that work for the personifications? Do they have inner self conflicts constantly about every decision? Do they have to choose between listening to one country or the other? Do they develop multiple-personality disorder?

...Or do they split into two different people entirely?
