I'm thinking the Spanish or Austrian wars of succession, the character probably being the first born daughter to a French upperclassmen. How ever, I read an amazing Fanfiction that was 42 cheapers and and...brace for it....168k words. It was extremely well written and amazing. The fanfic was Alleluia on fanfic.net I found it when I was searching for Romerica books, but it's not. I recommend that you read it, as it doesn't necessarily have any major ship attention.
This AU is basically that some countries are each parts of a family with characters, such as Austria+Hungary=Kugelmugel. Have fun with this AU, and just as a heads up I'm writing a fanfic for this AU. (Also probably should be a Human! AU as it would fit better.
