Long Time, No See (Germany x Italy)

So this isn't an x reader (sorry) but it is still a really cute one-shot! I mean, come on. Who doesn't like Germany x Italy! (If you don't, then that's fine. Ship whoever you want XD)
I got this idea while looking at fanart and I tried to write it as soon as I could. The small bits that are in different languages are from Google Translate, (same with all the other one-shots) so they might not be accurate. Anywho, enjoy!!!

Feliciano stood in the corner of the crowded room, surrounded by the sweetest display that he had ever seen. Had he not been so worried, he would have smiled. He saw sons and daughters hugging their fathers and mothers. Mothers admiring their sons. Wives kissing their husbands. . .

The soldiers had just come back from the war and they wouldn't be sent back out for a while. It made him happy to see all these people being reunited with their loved ones. A small smile graced his lips. It's a great feeling to know that your loved ones are safe. That's why many of these men and women had risked their lives for their country. For their families.

War was nothing to laugh about. Some people didn't make it to the next day. Their families never saw them again, but were usually notified about the loss. A letter in the mail. A call on the phone. A messenger at the door.

But Feliciano wasn't sure about his loved one. He wasn't really considered family, so if his lover died, or went missing, he wouldn't know. He wouldn't get a letter, or a call. In fact, nobody would know. The small Italian knew his love had no family and sadly, they weren't married. So he would never be told if something terrible happened.

His neighbor said that many people had gone missing. . . and he was scared to death that his love was one of them.

Nevertheless, he came. He needed to make sure that his lover was alive. When he leaves at the end of the day, he would know.

Feliciano sighed and looked around the room once again, scanning it, searching for the familiar blonde that he had come to love. He was ready to give up and sit back down when he saw a flash of golden hair.

The Italian's eyes darted over to where he saw the flash. He stared for a while, hunting for his companion. He found what he was looking for.

There, standing in the middle of a group of soldiers, was his tall, German boyfriend. His heart was beating so fast that it felt like it would fall out of this chest. He started walking, slowly at first, towards the man. His pace quickened into a jog as he approached his lover, jumping onto him from behind.

The German grunted, stumbling under the sudden weight on his back. He straightened himself out before turning to face the person behind him. Beautiful, blue eyes widened as he took in his little Italian. Brown eyes stared into his, tears on the edges.

"Hello. . ." the Italian whispered, too happy to speak any louder.

"Hallo. . ." Ludwig smiled. Oh, how he missed his goofy, little Italian. He reached his hand out and cupped Feliciano's cheek, using his thumb to wipe away the tears. "Did you miss me?" His voice was deep and tired, but filled with love.

The Italian laughed and nodded his head before jumping onto his German again and kissing him. Ludwig stumbled a little before wrapping his arms around him and kissing back.

After what felt like an eternity, the couple broke apart and smiled.

Feliciano opened his mouth to say something when he heard Ludwig grunt. Worried, Feli got off of the blonde and asked what was wrong. He then noticed a pair of crutches on the floor, long forgotten. His face filled with worry.

Ludwig sighed, then bent down to get them, causing Feli to notice a cast on his leg.

The Italian flinched and thought about how jumping on him couldn't have helped the injury. "Oh! Ludwig I'm so sorry! I-I didn't mean to jump on you! I didn't see your leg and-" he was cut off by a gentle shush.

"Nein Feli, I'll be fine. What kind of soldier would I be if I couldn't hold my boyfriend because of a broken leg?" His voice was filled with nothing but love. He hadn't seen the Italian in nearly 8 months. The pain in his leg was nothing compared to the pain that he had felt from being apart from Feliciano. All he wanted to do was sit with him in their home and eat a nice, home-cooked meal. He smiled down at his little Italian lover, re-positioning his crutches.

The brunette, however, was worried about his condition. How could he be so calm about this? His leg was broken and he had probably made it even worse with his jumping! His mind wandered about and he started to get sidetracked. The German noticed this and decided to take action. He leaned down, grabbing the sides of the brunette's face and kissing him softly. A tear streamed down Feli's face.

Then, it finally hit him. Ludwig was back. He was healthy and well, he was right there. He hadn't died and left him. And now that he had a broken leg, he didn't have to go back for a while. He got to stay.

Relief washed over Feliciano and he pulled away from his love. "Ludwig, let's go home." He did his trademark smile and held the tall German's hand.

Ludwig smiled and nodded. "Ja, of course. Let's go home." He let go of Feli's hand and started heading to the door of the room, walking slower then normally because of his crutches.

Feliciano stayed standing where he was, still not used to seeing his lover in person. After he noticed he wasn't being followed, Ludwig stopped and looked behind Him. "Feli? Aren't you coming?"

Feli snapped out of his trance, running to catch up to Ludwig.

They walked in silence for a while before Feliciano said, " I cleaned the house!"

Ludwig laughed at his cheerful manner. "Ah! Well its about time, don't you think?" He chuckled, causing a light blush to dust Feliciano's cheeks.

They walked in blissful silence all the way to the car. Feli got into the driver's seat, and Ludwig got into the passenger. Before they could pull out of the parking lot, Ludwig kissed his little Italian one more time.

The small man blushed. "L-ludwig! I'm driving! Why would you do that?"

The German smiled. " I haven't kissed you in 8 months. I'm taking every chance I can get," he said, making the Italian flush even darker.

". . . L-Ludwig. . ." He stuttered.

"Ja?"

". . . I. . . Um. . . Well. . ." He couldn't seem to get the words out.

"Ja? What is it?" The blonde looked at his love's flushed face, admiring every curve and blemish.

The Italian finally took a deep breath. "I just. . . wanted to say. . . te amo. . ." His face was as red as a tomato.

The man who this was directed at blushed. "Feli. . . Ich habe dich auch leib. . ."

The car suddenly slowed and pulled over to the side of the road. The brunette Italian unbuckled his seat belt and jumped onto the German, kissing him passionately, as if his life depended on it. A few minutes later he finally pulled away. "I love you Ludwig and I want to stay with you forever. . . Will you marry me?"

Ludwig was shocked. He never expected his innocent, little Italian boyfriend would be the one to propose. Especially like this.

Ludwig was quiet for a while, and the brunette started to worry. It was a while before the German nodded. "Ja, I will marry you. . ." He smiled at the small man sitting on his lap, pure happiness and love shining in his eyes.

Feliciano smiled and laughed. "I'm getting married! Haha! I get to marry my boyfriend! My strong, handsome boyfriend!!" His excitement was almost impossible to hold in.

Ludwig sighed and rolled his eyes. "Ja, we will get married, but unless you start driving, nothing will happen."

The Italian nodded and quickly hopped back into his seat, putting the car in drive. "Oh! You know how we can celebrate!? I will make pasta!!" The man's comment caused his fiancé to roll his eyes.

Well, what else was he expecting from a pasta lover?
