2P! America

My first 2P! anything. It probably sucks, but it was requested, so hey, why not!?! I hope you enjoy!

Al Jones was enjoying his daily nap before he was rudely awoken by a loud noise from outside his apartment. He turned over and pulled the Native American quilt over his head. He was just dozing off when he heard it again.

What was that terrible noise?!

Al groaned and shoved his quilt off. He got out of bed and stomped to his apartment door. Oh, he just couldn't wait to strangle whoever was making that noise. . .

He reached for the knob, and swung the door open. Nothing. What? How could that be. . . ?

Then, he heard it again. He grabbed his bat from beside the door and followed the intolerable, whining sound out of his apartment. He turned right and quickly realized what the noise was.

There, in front of him, was a dog. It was beautiful too-- a Black Lab and Irish Setter mix.

He was about to turn away from the creature when he noticed a spot of red near his feet. Blood. He turned back to the dog and knelt down to examine it.

The dog was a girl and he saw that its back left leg didn't look right. . . it was turned at an odd angle and was probably broken.

Al knitted his eyebrows together. "How'd this happen?" He leaned forward to examine it, but the dog shied away.

He frowned. "Come on, I have to make sure you're okay. . ." He reached for her again and she hesitantly let him touch her leg.

Al's nose scrunched up as he assessed the damage. It somehow looked like it wasn't an accident, but didn't look bad enough to be from a car.

Al stood and wiped his hands on his pants before taking out his phone. He typed in a number and waited, hearing the dial tone ring twice before a sweet-sounding voice answered.

"Hello, you've reached Kacie's Animal Shelter and Veterinary Clinic, how may I help you?"

The red-eyed man looked down at the dog near his feet. "Hey Sarah, it's me. . . Yeah, I found a dog outside my apartment. Its leg is bleeding and I'm pretty sure it's broken." He bent down again and put a hand on the dogs head, stroking it softly.

The woman on the phone, Sarah, let out a soft gasp. "What, really? Oh my gosh. . .  Al, you've called here plenty of times, but never for a broken leg. Hold on, I'll send our new assistant to your location to retrieve the dog. Just wait there and keep the poor thing as calm as you can, alright?"

Before Al could respond, the line went dead. He let out a sigh before moving his attention back to the dog.

"Hang in there, girl. Help is coming soon. . ."

The dog looked at him with large, dark eyes and whimpered. Al petted her head softly, calming her.

Not long after, a white truck pulled into a parking spot nearby. It had a logo on the side: a circle with the words "Kacie's Animal Shelter and Vet" in it.

The driver-side door opened and a girl stepped out. She had (h/l), (h/c) hair and beautiful, (s/c) skin. She moved her hair out of her face as she scanned her surroundings, her eyes landing on Al. She walked briskly towards him, medical bag in hand.

"Hello, my name is (y/n), I'm the new vet's assistant. You're the one who called the shelter? Al was your name, right?" she asked, bending down to look at the lab.

Al nodded and patted the dog's head again. "So, is her leg broken?"

The girl sighed through her nose. "Yeah, it looks that way. Looks like there's a cut too." She started to wrap a bandage around the bleeding leg. "Help me get her to the truck, but don't jostle her leg too much."

Al did as he was told, getting in the back of the truck with the dog as the girl went to the front seat. He may not seem like a nice guy, but he has a soft spot for animals. . . and pretty ladies. ;)

*time skip brought by flying mint bunny*

Al was sitting in the vet clinic's waiting room, reading a magazine he'd found on the table in front of him.

The young girl from before was sitting at the front desk, looking at him. She couldn't help but feel slightly attracted to him. His stoic expression and the way his light brown hair sat on his head intrigued her.

But the most fascinating thing about him was his eyes. Their unique, burgundy color gave him an air of mystery and depth. Of uncovered secrets that she knew would never be told.

She kept wondering what he was thinking about. She hoped that she could talk to him, but she was feeling. . . shy, for some reason. She'd never felt this way before. Maybe it was because she hadn't eaten that day. Or maybe it was because Al was very. . . attractive. . . Yeah, that was probably it. I mean, she'd had trouble talking to hot guys before, but not like this.

(Y/n) got carried away, forgetting everything she was supposed to be doing, as she stared at the young man in front of her.

Unfortunately, he had caught her looking. She didn't know it, though. She was too busy spacing out, her head in the clouds.

The man smirked, then cleared his throat, effectively jolting her out of her trance.

"Excuse me, ma'am. You've been staring for quite a while. . . You mind telling me why?"

(Y/n) blushed furiously and started to stutter. "I-I-I well. . . I. . . um. . ."

Al chuckled and, oh god, his laugh was amazing. He looked at the admittedly beautiful girl. "Hey. (Y/n), was it?"

Oh my god, he remembered my name! she thought.

"We should go somewhere together sometime."

Oh. My. God. I just got asked out. . . by a really hot guy! That's amazing! Okay, okay! Stay calm. You can do this, (y/n). The author believes in you.

(Y/n) was staring at him, wide eyed, trying to figure out how to respond without sounding desperate.

"Uh. . . y-yeah. S-sure. . ." She managed.

Al grinned, the corners of his mouth turning up into a perfect smile. Oh god, how could such a serious person make a face that adorable?!

They exchanged numbers (squeal) and had started easing into conversation when the head veterinarian, Kacie, walked in with a smile on her face, interrupting the beautiful moment.

"Hey Al, I have good news! The dog's going to be fine. She broke her leg and there was some minor tissue damage, but we stitched it up and put a cast on her. We're going to keep her overnight for observation, but I think that she'll make a full recovery."

Al smiled. "That's great. I'm glad that I found her." His smile disappeared. "No one called to claim her?"

Kacie frowned slightly. "Unfortunately not. We can take her in at the shelter here, though."

He shook his head. "Nah, I'll take her. She can live with me. You know that I like dogs anyway."

The vet smiled and looked proud. "Well, okay then! You can come in and pick her up tomorrow."

"Alright. Then, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." He started to head out the door.

Kacie shook her head. "Actually, no. I won't be here tomorrow. I have to run out and visit a friend with a sick cat. (Y/n) will take my place here for the day."

Al's smile turned into a smirk. "Oh. . . alright then. See you tomorrow, (y/n)." He winked and walked out the front door, leaving the girl staring.

"Hmm. . . we should get back to work." Kacie smiled knowingly. "I wouldn't get my hopes up too much, dear. But good luck with that one," she said before heading to the back room.

Luck, huh? I hope that I don't need it. . .
