The events of Hetaoni actually happened and all the Nations (eventually) escaped. But, England erased their memories so they wouldn't have to deal with the aftermath. Italy redused to let England erase his and you can't use memory spells on yourself. Unfortunately, no one else can do memory magic so England had no choice but to remember. They pretend that everything is okay though, so no one worries.
