《 Chapter 7: Coming Home 》
Nuo watches her friends play arcade machine in awe, looking at the screen.
"Button mash all you want, Mk. You'll never beat my Ancient Galloping Fury Power." Mei grinned cockily, winning against him.
"Up smash, up smash!" Sandy said.
"I'm trying, Sandy. Okay? I'm trying, I'm trying." Mk whined, feeling frustrated on loosing.
"No one can defeat me."
Mei's phone starts ringing, causing her to frown to see her mother's profile.
"Oh boy."
She then answers it. With her back turned, Mk giggles evilly and Nuo notices it and takes over Mei's place.
"I don't think so, Mk."
"Oh, please. Like you know how to play." he playfully rolled his eyes.
"I can try."
"Alright. Don't cry that I beat you."
Mk then starts playing and Nuo struggles to beat his character as she moves the controls with uncertainty. She kept on trying to beat him until she managed to get a hang of it after seeing how Mk moves his character. Heck, she even starts beating him, much to his horror and shock.
"What?! But you're still a newbie!"
"Well, some newbies got great talents!" Nuo grinned.
Meanwhile with Mei as she's talking to her mother on the phone, and she looks unhappy with the response she's getting.
"Hi, Mom. Yes. Of course. Yes, Mother."
Mei then hangs up.
"Hey, you okay there, Mei?" Sandy asked with concern.
"Yeah. It's just --"
"Yes! Top that, Mk!"
"Noooo!!"
Nuo laughs as she beats Mk's video game avatar with Mk banging his face against the controls in utter defeat that he had been beaten by the two girls he's been friends with. But that was not the problem as Mei starts explaining to them. Nuo sees the look on her face and gets concerned.
"My parents -- they want me to housesit."
"Is it that bad?" Nuo asked.
"No. Me and my parents, we --"
Mk's eyes glints at the information he misheard.
"Uh, did Mei say sleepover at her house?"
"What? No. My parents would want --"
"Sleepover!"
Mk then mutters to himself about wanting to see a secret dragon place, which made Nuo suspicious about his behavior but at the same time she's curious about the dragon's home since Mei is also part of the dragon, and maybe it could help her find a way home and know some information about the dragon gem. Mk turned to Mei.
"I've always wanted to see inside Mei's secret Dragon House full of secret dragon stuff. Come on, please? Please, please, please, please, please?"
Mei sighs in defeat after seeing Mk's puppy eyes.
"Sleepover it is."
"Ah yeah! This sleepover is going to be amazing. You know what? I'll bring my Monkey King DVDs so we can have a marathon."
Nuo turns to Mei.
"Are you sure you're okay with this?"
"It's fine. It would be great to have fun with you guys."
"Okay."
Little did they know, General Ironclad listens in on their conversation from a distance. But he's not the only one as Draven is also listening to their conversation while watching Nuo go before smirking, bringing out his dart gun.

Mk, Mei, Nuo, and Sandy soon arrive at the Dragon Temple house.
"Wow... Pretty neat." Nuo commented.
"It's even better than I thought. Growing up here must have been great." Mk gasped in awe.
Mei frowns and looks at the canvas walls.
"Yeah, I guess. But -- I don't know. When I was growing up, I just wanted to be rough and tumble. Break stuff. Look at bugs. You know, have fun just like normal girl stuff. But when your house is pretty much a museum and you come from a long line of ancient, noble dragons, that's kind of frowned on." Mei said, almost explaining everything about her past and her pain.
She quickly regains her happiness.
"Anyway. Onwards to the definitely-not-going-to-be-terrible sleepover."
Mk and Sandy, except Nuo runs off to explore around the house. Mei sighs and looks at the wall. Nuo sees that and decides to cheer her up and water bends from the pond and making it into a bubble towards her face. Mei sees the funny reflection of herself from the bubble and giggles since the water is moving. Nuo then brings in koi fishes into the bubble as they swim around majestically. Mei was in awe and turned to see Nuo doing the work before she gently water bends it back into the pond with the koi fishes.
"Thanks for the show, Nuo."
"No problem. I could tell you're not happy with coming back to this place. You don't have to tell me what's going on until you're ready. We're here for you."
"I will. But I'll be fine. We should get going before our friends get hurt."
As if on cue, the house's security system aims at Mk and Sandy, but Mei disarms it with Nuo following her.
"Yeah, my parents are a bit serious about the old security thing."
Nuo though sweat drops when she said a 'bit' when her parents are completely serious about the security for their house. The doors then opened for them.
"Welcome home, Mei." Security System VO said.
"Yeah." Mei said with an unimpressed look.
Everyone comes inside to reveal the architectures full of weapons and other things that are part of dragons.
"This is amazing." Mk gasped.
"Whoa. What is all this stuff?" Sandy awed.
"Ah, you know. Gifts, artifacts, offerings. Just stuff that's been in my family for --"
Mei stops and gasps to see the boys poking around the stuff and breaking things.
"--guys. Wait!"
"Uh, guys? I wouldn't touch that if I were you." Nuo tried to warn them.
Mk climbs onto the dragon armor stand.
"If I had all this stuff, I don't even know what I would do. Sell it, probably."
"Mk! Get down from here!" Nuo scolded.
The armor stand was about to fall after Mk pulls away if it weren't for Mei quickly stopping it. Mk grabs the golden axe to take a look for a moment before tossing it away. Nuo catches it before it hits Mei. Mei gasps in horror to see Sandy near the dragon column as he carries it to examine.
"Yeah, this stuff looks really great. Looks like a few good years, maybe. Centuries."
More cracks and smashes were heard until Mei had enough and was about to shout but Nuo beats her to it. Her eyes glow blue and with one loud stomp with a crack on it, it echoes the entire room. Mk and Sandy froze to see the aura of Nuo as she glares at them.
"ENOUGH! MK! SANDY! FRONT AND CENTER!"
The boys quickly put the things back where they belong and stands up straight.
"Apologize, now."she said sternly as soon as her powers died down.
Mk and Sandy immediately get on their knees and bow down to Mei.
"We're sorry."
"It's alright. Follow me. You guys are such menaces, you know that?"
Mei leads them on a tour of her house as she shows them the garage full of brand-new cars.
"This is the garage filled with all the awesome things I am not allowed to drive." she continued on. "This is one of our many long hallways. We also have the Celestial Jade Garden, the room with the 30 centuries of antiques, Pool of a Thousand Tears, tea and snack room, and my bedroom. And this is the Dragon Claw Chamber."
Just as they walk past the Dragon Claw Chamber, something caught Mk's attention.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up."
Mk approaches and geeks out over the Dragon Blade in the hands of the statue dragon.
"Whoa. Now this thing is cool. So, what's the dealio with this deal, yo?"
"That's the sword of my great-great-great times a thousand great-grandfather, the Dragon of the West." Mei said, glancing at the old portrait of him. "Legends say that my grandfather imbued it with unimaginable power so that our clan would always have the strength of the dragon to protect them. It's true power will only show itself to those deemed worthy. A true member of our clan who's proven themselves strong enough to protect our family from the forces of evil. But I'm not allowed to touch it. Hey, anyone want to see the game room?"
"Yeah!"
"Alright!"
Mk and Sandy zoom off, leaving Mei and Nuo. Mei looks at the portraits of all of her family. She feels as if they're watching and judging her. She frowns and gets out of the room. Nuo though stays there a little, looking at all the portraits of them as if they're watching her and whispering something to her. She was about to leave when she saw something interesting. There in a largest portrait are the four celestial dragons with land and water around them with a dragon gem in the middle.
Gazing in awe, she approaches and touches it. Her eyes glows white along with the dragons' eyes from the portrait.

~ FLASHBACK ~
At night, Ao Lie is rushing up the hill. Four celestial dragons stands under the tree, slowly performing Tai Chi movements, blossom petals floating elegantly from the branches.
"Masters! Masters!"
"Hmmm?"
"I have... it's... it's very bad news." Ao Lie said out of breath.
"Ah, Ao Lie. There is just news. There is no good or bad."
"Masters, your vision...your vision was right! Ever since you saved us from Droon, almost everyone wants to kill you guys, so they could steal your gem and become powerful! I overheard almost every people I've encountered so far!"
The four dragons pauses, looking worried.
"That is bad news... if you do not believe that there's hope and trust amongst others.
No one will never fulfill their destiny, nor you, until you let go of the illusion of control and mistrust."
Ao Lie is incredulous and confused.
"Illusion?"
"Yes. Look at this tree, Ao Lie."
They looks up at the tree's branches, where blossom petals continue to fall.
"We cannot make it blossom when it suits us, nor make it bear fruit before its time."
"But there are things we can control."
Ao Lie kicks the tree and a hundred peaches fall to the ground. Four celestial dragons gazes at him in silence.
"I can control when the fruit will fall!"
A peach falls on his head: he growls and the four dragons chuckles.
"And I can control..."
He tosses a peach in the air, leaps up, and splits it with a chop, freeing the seed.
"... where to plant the seed... hi-yah!"
He punches the ground, creating a small hole. The seed falls into his hand.
"That is no illusion, Masters!"
He tosses the seed into the hole.
"Ah, yes."
Four dragons steps forwards while Ao Lie begins pacing in frustration.
"But no matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple, or an orange... but you will get a peach."
Ao Lie tops pacing and turns to his masters.
"But a peach cannot defeat anyone that will come for powers for greed!"
"Maybe it can. If you are willing to guide it, to nurture it. To believe in it."
One of the four dragons covers the seed with dirt.
"But how? How? I need your help, Masters." Ao Lie said.
"No, you just need to believe."
They lean in towards their student.
"Promise us, Ao Lie. Promise us you will believe and trust one another."
Ao Lie hesitates.
"I... I will try."
Four celestial dragons smiles.
"Good."
They glance up at the starry sky. The petals begin rapidly falling from the tree as the wind picks up.
"Our journey has come to end."
They turn back to a confused Ao Lie.
"You must continue your journey... without us."
They hands him something in his hand.
"What are you..? What...?"
Four celestial dragons begins walking to the cliff's edge. Ao Lie realises what they're doing and runs after them.
"Masters! You can't leave me."
The petals surround the four dragons as they stop at the cliff's edge and turn back to him.
"You must believe and learn to trust again."
"Masters! Will I ever see you again?"
"Someday, when you truly needed us the most. Goodbye, Ao Lie."
The four celestial dragons begins to fly away with peach blossoms following them as they glow with a lovely blue light. As the winds settle, Ao Lie stands at the edge of the cliff, clutching the dragon sword that the dragons have given him for his adventure, staring after the mass of petals as they float up into the night sky as the dragons disappears into the clouds.
~ FLASHBACK ENDS ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gasping, she snaps out of her trance and finds herself back in the Dragon Claw Chamber where the portrait is. She wonders what was that about and who are those four dragons she saw earlier. Nuo somehow feels connected to them and stares at the portrait for a while. What she didn't know is that Draven had somehow got through securities and is now close to Nuo as he brings out his dart gun.
"I've got you now, dragon." he whispered, slowing approaching with her back facing him.
At the same time, Ironclad was attempting to steal the Dragon Blade. Smelling something, Nuo immediately turns and pulls out her sword.
"You again."
Draven smirks while Ironclad freezes at being caught.
"Party, board games, snacks, Bull Clone."
Mei passes by General Ironclad stealing the Dragon Blade and Draven attempting to capture Nuo. She backtracks as soon as she realizes what she saw.
"Wait a minute, you're a Bull Clone!"
The Bull Clone flees with the sword. Mei gasps to see Nuo having a dart gun pointed by Draven.
"Nuo!!"
Mei immediately acts and punches him in the face.
"Get away from my friend!"
"Thanks! But he's getting away with the sword!" Nuo said.
"Well, we better be quick!"
They began to chase after the Bull Clone through Mei's house as it destroys her parents' artifacts. They have to quickly catch every other objects before they could break. Draven somehow recovers and is on pursuit in his motorcycle.
"You're not getting away that easily, dragon!!"
Mei glares at him over her shoulder and whistles. On cue, the White Dragon Horse Bike comes in view, ramming Draven to the side. Mei hops on with Nuo sitting behind her as her clothes changes into her bike suit along with her helmet. They continued their chase on the Bull Clone with Draven behind them as he starts shooting darts towards Nuo, who blocks them off with her sword. He growls in frustration and shoots out grappling chains. Mei notices and dodges to the side.
"Who is that guy?!"
"That's the man who tried to capture me!"
"What for? What does he want with you?"
"Simple, her head!" Draven grinned menacingly.
"Oh, not on my watch!!" Mei growled.
"Mei! Got any water bottles?"
"Here!"
Mei hands her a water bottle as Nuo uncaps it and brings out water whip as she hits off more sleeping darts. Draven shoots out more grappling chains as Nuo created a water saw and cuts them off. Draven goes to bring more sleeping darts only to find one left. He carefully takes an aim at Nuo, who gets ready. He then shoots the dart. Nuo tries to block it when it zooms past her as it goes to hit her shoulder. Mei gasps and moved her bike to the side as the dart hits towards the wheel the Bull Clone was riding instead. This causes the bike to slow down and Mei crashes into it with her bike. Draven skids his motorcyle into a stop. Mei, Nuo, and the Bull Clone went flying for a second until they land rather ungracefully. Mei slams into a wall and the Dragon Blade impales itself above her head, nearly stabbing her.
Nuo lands on her back with a grunt and looks up to see Draven getting out of his motorcycle and stalking towards her.
"Finally, first I take your head and then the rest of the reincarnation of your friends. Maybe I'll even take Sun Wukong's head, since he's famous and it would be thrilling for everyone to know a mortal killed him."
"But he's immortal... and you stay away from my friends. Your bounty hunting is on me, not them!" Nuo glared, slowly getting up.
Draven pulls out his grappling chains.
"Oh, I'm aware. I always find the weak spot on immortals, especially you."
Nuo looks back at Mei as she was gaining consciousness. She looks back at Draven and then closes her eyes.
"Sorry, Mk."
Her eyes glows blue as she growls animalistically at Draven, who flinches.
"No more running, no more hiding. You want my head so badly, then try and get me!!"
Nuo transforms herself into a water dragon. At the same time, Mei grabs the Dragon Blade and she glares up at her ancestors, who're discriminating her.
"You know what? I am part of this family. I am Mei. Descendant of the great Dragon of the West Sea. This is mine, and this is my house."
Mei harnesses the power of the Dragon Blade. She hovers midair, staring down the Bull Clone while Nuo summons out a big wave of water, glaring down at Draven.
"Get out of my house!/Get away from us!"
Mei blasts the Bull Clone with a beam of green light while Nuo covers Draven's body with water and water bends him out of the house. Draven's screams could be heard as the wave takes him far away while the Bull Clone gets blasted into bits. As soon as they're gone, Mei stares at the sword in awe and turns to Nuo, who quickly turns back into a human, seeing that she didn't notice her as a dragon.
"Nuo, you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Good job."
Mei smiles and gives her a hug. Mk walks out of the room into the hall.
"So, um, Mei, you know that really cool --"
He stops to see how messy the hall is.
"Mei, Nuo, what happened?"
"Mk. Someone tried to steal the Dragon Sword. And that crazy man tried to capture Nuo for her head. But we stopped them with this, the Dragon Sword."
Mei shows him the sword.
"And my waterbending. And may have use my dragon form to scare him off..." Nuo added while whispering the last part, which went unnoticed by Mk.
As much as he's worried about Nuo's safety, he couldn't help but geek out at the sight of the sword.
"Whoa, the Dragon Sword! That's --"
He stops to see Sandy and Mo giving him a look and sighs.
"Mei, I'm really glad you and Nuo stopped them, but I have a confession to make. I accidentally --"
Mei looks at him with a smile while Nuo is curious on what he had to say.
"Accidentally what?"
"-- accidentally didn't know what was going on. Wow, that thing's amazing." Mk lied through his nervous smile.
"Ahem."
They froze and turned to see Mei's parents. Mei quickly hides her sword behind her back nervously. Nuo immediately stands straight, feeling the powerful dragon presence of Mei's parents.
"Mom, Dad. You're back." Mei said nervously.
"We were on our way when we realized somebody forgot our luggage." Mei's Mom said, glancing at her husband, who winces.
"Um, Sandy, were you kind of expecting Mei's parents to be literally two, big, scary dragons?" Mk whispered to Sandy.
Sandy imagined two big green dragons and immediately lied, sweatdropping.
"Um, no."
"I can explain. Someone tried to steal the sword and capture my friend. Me and Nuo didn't let them. And I used this. I'm sorry."
Mei bows to them, holding her sword out. Nuo bows to them as well.
"Forgive her, Mr. and Mrs. Dragon. I did what I could to help. What she did out there was amazing."
"We saw the whole thing." Mr. Dragon stated.
Nuo froze in fear as she gets a feeling they saw her dragon form.
"But we couldn't just --"
"And we're so proud of you."
Mr. Dragon then smiled at her daughter, shocking her.
"...What?"
"The Dragon Blade is the pride of our family heritage. Its power only shows itself to those that embrace their history. Their family."
Mrs. Dragon kneels down to Mei's level and then gestures to her friends while also looking at Nuo.
"We may not always see eye-to-eye, and your friends are more unique than we expected, but you are a part of this family. And it is part of you. We love you."
"I love you too, Mom. Dad."
Mei and her parents gets into a group hug with smiles on their faces. Mei's parents then secretly tosses something to Nuo and she catches it. Her eyes widened to see another shard of dragon gem that's almost big inside the pouch. How did they know she's a water dragon? She looks at them again as they gave her a wink before going back to hugging Mei. Nuo grips onto the pouch and smiles. This scene reminds her of her sisters and brothers as she wonders if they're doing alright in Kumandra.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, in the alley, Draven's body slumps down as he coughs out the water Nuo sends him. He growls in anger and punches the ground.
"I was so close!! That stupid dragon will pay for it!!"
Just as he was about to get up when he spots something glowing in the corner of his eye. Curious, he crawls over and reaches out and grabs something. What he holds was the shard of the dragon gem as he holds it up high.
"Well, well, looks like this could be useful with my job." he said with an evil smile. "Just you wait, dragon~"
