Chapter Twenty Three
Todoroki's Perspective
Yesterday
I stood there and stared at mt green-haired friend who was standing in front of me. "What- no. Midoriya, I can't join you guys for real. I'm trying to be a hero."
He rolled his eyes before looking back into mine. "No, your dad wants you to be a hero. Isn't that the reason why you're even alive? He wanted someone to surpass All Might since he was too weak to do it. Don't listen to him. Endeavor is a hero, and look how he turned out," he let go of my arm and put his palm on my face. His tone turned soft and so did his hands. "He hurt you and your family." I watched as his gaze drifted from my eyes to my cheek. I felt his thumb touch my scar. "He drove your mother to do this to your face." He looked back at my eyes. "Do you really want to become like that?"
I blinked. He was actually right. If my dad wasn't a hero, my family would've been very different. Mom would be home, instead of a hospital. We would see Natsou more. Touya would've never left. I sighed after a few minutes of me weighing my options. "Can I have a few days to think about it?"
He shook his head and took his warm hand off of my face. "No, I only have a few more minutes. Please join us though, I want to show everyone my boyfriend." He gave me a smile and I blushed. "We are still together though, right?"
"I mean, we never really were together, but I guess we are now." I shrugged. His smile widened.
"You'll join us?" The freckled cutie in front of me asked with enthusiasm. I put my hands up.
"I didn't say that."
His shoulders slumped as he started to pout. "But how are we going to be able to stay together this way? I'm a villain and you're a hero. One of us has to change occupations so it isn't hard for the kids to choose when they are older, and it can't be me. I'm pretty sure that I'm never allowed to step foo-"
"Who said anything about kids? Or us even staying together that long?" I started to back up.
"Am I moving to fast?" I nodded and he put his head down. "Sorry, I was just thinking ahead." He let out a small awkward chuckle that pulled at my heart strings.
I walked closer to the green boy and hugged him. I didn't know much, but I knew that something changed when he was taken by the villains that one night, but he wasn't Toga, that was for sure. I also knew that I wouldn't be getting the old Midoriya back. The one who used to be so passionate about heroes, the one who would write endlessly about our quirks, just so he could improve his own, the one who would spend almost every day with his friends and dad (All Might obviously). I sighed. I had to accept that he changed and I couldn't change him back.
I exhaled. "I'll join you guys," I felt his arms tighten around me as he got excited. "For real this time."
He let go and my arms fell to my sides. "Great! You start now!"
"Wait, wha-" Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and leaped out of the window. The window was open, so we didn't break anything. I stared at him. "What are you doing?!"
"Taking you with me for the initiation of course!" He yelled back happily. I couldn't stop smiling at him. His smile was so wide, it was practically up to his ears. His green eyes shot away from mine and he focused on taking us to their hideout.

Izuku took me to an empty beach. I looked around. "This isn't the usual hideout. I'm guessing that they changed it?"
He nodded. "Yeah, we've been planning on changing it anyways. The attack just proved our reason even more. Pro heroes knew where we lived so we had to go somewhere else." He kicked at some sand.
"Where do you guys meet up? Out here in the open?" I asked. I looked around for a weird rock or a lever or something.
"No. Tomura owns a beach house." He shrugged and started to walk towards a nice looking house. "Toga, Kurogiri, Twice, and Dabi." My eyes widened at the mention of the raisin of a villain. He left our home because he didn't want to end up like our father. Like me. I gasped inwardly once I made the connection. I'm becoming just like my brother. I didn't know if that was a good thing or not. Izuku, being the caring guy he is, noticed that I wasn't acting like how I would be. "Are you okay Shouto?" I nodded and he opened the door for me. "Remember, I'm right here for you, okay?"
I looked at his eyes. They shined with curiousity and concern. I smiled. "I know Izuku." Once I looked away from him. I noticed that we walked into a nice-looking room that was most likely a living room.
He started to bounce all over, showing me around the nice-looking rooms. The kitchen was behind the living room and there were two long hallways that led to bedrooms; each rooms contained a bed, a bookshelf, a desk, a nightstand, and a lamp. I was shocked at how much was in the house.
"Where did Tomura get the money for all of this?"" I asked Izuku as I picked up a thing that looked like some type of crysal apple. It looked really nice.
"From my initiation. I had to rob a bank." He shrugged and continued to look around like what he just said was completely normal.
I dropped the glass apple. "You what?"
"Tomura is going to be soo mad." He pointed to the glass shards on the floor.
Suddenly, multiple tile peices rose up together to reveal a hidden basement and someone with light blue hair in a ponytail. "What was that?" The man asked.
"It's okay Tomura. It was an accident." Izuku bent over and started to pick up the peices.
"That's Tomura?" I pointed to him as he climbed out of the hole fully.
"What can I say? I had to dress nicely for the open house so I could get this place." Tomura shrugged and walked towards me. "What are you doing back here traitor?"
"He wants to join! For real this time!" Izuku smiled as he threw away the glass. "I offered and he accepted! It was on his own free will!"
Tomura looked at me and squinted. "You have to do something first. An initiation to get in." He snapped his fingers. "I got it. You have to rob the Momo Mansion. That'll bring us a bunch of money."
"How about we start off small? Like, a small restaurant in town? I don't want him to get sent to prison." Izuku said.
Tomura thought more. "I'm thinking about having you two go to that gas station in town. Do it by next Monday, and you'll be in."
As I was opening my mouth to speak, the patch of tiles rose again and Toga popped up. "Did you find ou- ooo! Red Raisin is back!" The tiles fell back into their original place when she scrambled out.
"What about being a raisin?" A familiar voice called out. The tiles rose again and I saw Dabi. He looked shocked to see me. "Shouto? What are you doing back here?"
"I didn't want to end up like our dear old dad." I rolled my eyes. He pulled himself out and walked towards me.
Once he was right in front of me, I was able to get a better look at his scars. They were stapled back into place and they looked like they were burned. The same places where Dad has his fire. He gave me a smile. "Welcome to the team little brother."
"Brother?" Toga, Izuku, and Tomura all said at the same time.
"You guys didn't know?" He looked at his friends. They shook their heads.
"You never told us!" Toga flopped over the couch.
"It never came up in conversations." Dabi shrugged and they kept talking about it. I decided to zone out a bit. They all looked close, well, closer than what my family was. No wonder why Dabi left us to join them. I had a small feeling in my gut that I would like training here.
