Chapter One: Casino Highway (Team Berserk)
"Warning: Breakout in Containment Hall 005. Target sighted in Hall 007. All personnel report to Hall 007 to apprehend prisoner."
Just great. Mitch thought as he ran down the iron block hallway, scanning the signs as he ran along (which was hard to do when the hall kept switching from blood red redstone lights to pitch darkness). I have to find Mat and Jerome before I get caught.
Mitch kept running until he came to a big iron door, which had a keypad on the front of it. Mitch bit his lip, hearing the stomping of mobs behind him. He had a gut feeling that one of his friends were in here, so, Mitch did what any sensible person would do and bashed the keypad with his fists as hard as he could and the keypad fell to the floor.
The door slid open, and Mitch slipped underneath it. The room was completely dark, with the exception of two buttons on the wall near the door, one labeled 'open/close' and one 'light'. Mitch could hear the mobs behind him, so he hastily hit the 'open/close' button and the door slid shut behind him, leaving him in pitch black darkness.
Mitch sighed in relief and pressed the 'light button, watching as the lights slowly flickered on in the room, giving Mitch a better view.
The room was about twice the size of Mitch's cell, and had power cells and screens lining the back wall, engines lining the side walls. In the corner of the room was something hidden underneath a stale gray sheet, a few pieces of metal poking out from underneath it. On the wall next to the mystery object was a bright green computer screen.
Mitch ignored it however, his attention drawn to the large test tube in the middle of the room. It was made out of a red metal, the only glass being the small bit on the front and top. Mitch couldn't see what was inside, the test tube seemingly powered off.
Mitch sighed, but then noticed that there were two buttons one the front of the metal tube, one labeled 'power', and one labeled 'release'. Next to them was a bright blue screen, which had information typed in it, Mitch quickly reading it over.
'Subject #002: JeromeASF
Status: Inactive
Notes: Very aggressive. Killed several mobs trying to make his way to Subject #003. Had to be put into stasis to retain any more casualties. Contains unusually high amounts of red energy.'
Mitch frowned, looking up again to the tube. Jerome's in there? He thought as he hit the 'power' button. There was a whirring from within the machine, and a green light flickered on from within it, showing what it had contained.
It was Jerome, Mitch was sure of it, but he didn't look like... himself.
Jerome was inside of the stasis tube, sleeping with his arms across his chest, surrounded in a green liquid. But he wasn't human, he was covered in brown fur, with a black nose, claws, and a tuxedo. He looks like his Minecraft skin... exactly like it more like, he's a freaking Bacca!
Mitch pressed the 'release' button with a worried look on his face. The front of the tube cracked open a bit and the green liquid started to pour out. Mitch crossed his arms and stepped away so he wouldn't get any of the liquid on him. Mitch could still hear the pounding of the mobs outside of the door, and wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. Hurry up, hurry up... Mitch thought repeatedly as the liquid slowly drained from the stasis tube.
Mitch flinched as he heard what sounded like a gun cocking from behind him.
"All intruders must be eradicated!" said a metallic voice from behind him.
Mitch suddenly felt something tackle him down to the ground as the sound of rapid gunfire echoed around the small room. He looked up to see that Jerome was kneeling over him, staring at him with big black eyes.
"Stay here." Jerome said, his voice hardly audible over the gunfire. His eyes then suddenly dilated as he roared and jumped out of Mitch's vision. Mitch rolled over onto his stomach, trying to get a view of what was going on. Jerome was fighting what seemed to be a robot, which had, instead of arms, had a set of large guns and blasters that were trying and failing to hit Jerome with any bullets/lasers.
Mitch watched hopelessly as they continued to fight, looking for an opening to jump into the fray. Jerome lunged at the robot, but the robot kicked upward, hitting the bacca square in the chest, sending him onto the floor, breathless. Mitch took it as his chance to attack as the robot advanced toward his friend, but froze as he finally got a good view of the bot.
The robot was made of a strong gray metal, and had what appeared to be a red steel chest plate on his shoulders, covering most of his upper torso. Cracks in its chest came from underneath the chest plate, one crack going as far as one of his gun/arms. The bottom half of the robot was black, with red and gray metal making it appear as if he had knee guards and boots. His neck was black was well, but it was almost invisible underneath the robots big jaws. The robot had what looked like a small metal fin on top of its head, and had glowing pieces of orange metal on the side of its head. The robot narrowed its glowing red eyes as it raised an arm to Jerome's quivering body, all of the guns on it cocking and loading at once.
"Mat stop!!!" Mitch cried, throwing himself between the bacca and the robot, arms out to shield his best friend. Mitch's eyes were shut, expecting for his impending doom. But nothing came. Mitch slowly opened his eyes. Mat's head was cocked to the side a bit, his red eyes looking over Mitch with an unreadable expression (it is a bit hard to read a robot's expression).
"Scan complete." Mat said with a metallic, monotone voice (Mitch found it weird watching Mat speak, his jaw didn't move with his words, it just hung open until he was done talking before closing again). "Identifying... Subject #003 identified, codename: BajanCanadian. Subject must be eradicated." Mat said, aiming his guns toward Mitch's head. Mitch felt himself freeze up as Mat narrowed his eyes, raising his guns again.
Suddenly, Mat's eyes hot open, and his arms went instantly limp. Mitch backed away as Mat seemed to glitch out as the guns on his arms retracted back into normal looking arms, his head twitching sporadically, his eyes randomly opening and closing. Mitch took this as a good time to help pull Jerome up, who was still dazed and just starting to regain his breath.
Mitch and Jerome stared as Mat's eyes finally closed and he held his head with his hands, falling to his knees. "ENOUGH!!!" he yelled, his voice while still metallic, was no longer monotone, but full of emotion.
Mat stayed on his knees for a moment, before, no longer glitching out, he calmly stood as Mitch carefully approached him (ignoring Jerome tugging on his sleeve for him to stay back). Mitch shook Mat's shoulder, speaking quietly. "Mat...? Are you okay?"
Mat was silent, before looking up at his friend, his eyes no longer red, but a cool, glowing blue. Mitch flinched as Mat jumped into Mitch's arms, squeezing him in a tight hug. Mitch shivered when he felt the coolness of the metal on his skin. "Whoa! Mat! Get off, you're freaking freezing!"
Mat backed off, hanging his head like an upset puppy. "Sorry." He said, his jaw swinging open before closing again.
Mitch was about to reply when Jerome cut him off, his eyes narrowed. "What was with you attacking us like that?!?!? You were trying to kill us!"
Mat looked to the floor, his metallic voice cracking a bit as his jaw swung open again. "It was the mobs! I woke up here after the mobs put you in that thing! They did something to me... It wasn't my fault I swear!"
Jerome looked away, guilty for beating up on his friend for something that wasn't his fault. Mitch sighed at the two of them, and raised both of his hands, and slapped the both of them in the back of their heads. It didn't seem to effect Mat, but Jerome reeled back, rubbing his head.
"What the heck Mitch?!?!?" he yelled angrily.
"You two need to suck it up darnit!" Mitch said, gesturing to the door. "We have mobs at the door, and we have no way out!"
They sat in silence for a minute, thinking. (Mitch sadly realizing the Jerome had was a foot taller than him now, and Mat was a few inches taller, making him the shortest.)They looked around the room, and Mat called to them where he had been resting before. "Hey guys! I think I found something!"
Mitch raised an eyebrow. Mat was pointing to the computer screen that Mitch had seen when he had walked in. The three quickly read it over.
'Subject #001: N00chM
Status: Active
Notes: Robotic. Slightly aggressive. Contains unusually high amounts of yellow energy. Reprogrammed to follow orders from High Master Brine.'
"Okay... So how will this help us escape?" Mitch asked.
Mat rolled his eyes and pointed to something in the corner of the screen without a word. It was a small button that read 'map'. With a nervous chuckle, Mitch pressed it, replacing the information with a map of what they guessed was the whole facility. Turns out that they were right near the entrance, and they could get outside by climbing through the vents, one leading right outside.
They located the vent above the stasis tube Jerome was in, and they made a human/robot/bacca tower to get inside. Mat had Mitch on his shoulders, and Jerome was on top of Mitch's. Jerome pried the top open and climbed into the vent before reaching out and helping Mitch climb in, who helped Mat in.
The vent was very cramped, and Jerome, who had memorized the map, led the way, Mitch and Mat following behind him. After about five minutes of crawling, Jerome yelled. "Guys! I think I found the exit!"
Mitch watched as Jerome opened the vent door, and head the bacca gasp. "Oh my gawd! Guys, you need to see this, it's amazing!"
"I would," Mat replied angrily, "but I have you and Mitch's butts in my face!"
That's when Mitch felt something push him from behind, and him and Jerome both tumbled out of the air vent and landed on the hard floor outside of the facility. Mitch groaned, and could hear Jerome growling underneath him. The brunette looked up, observing their surroundings, and gasped. "Well Jerome, I can that you were definitely right about this being amazing!"
The area around them seemed to resemble a giant casino floating high in the sky, the ground being lined with a lush red carpet, and the buildings being replaced with giant slot machines. Bright neon signs were floating in the skies... and mobs were hanging around as well, eyeing the two with scary looks.
In the distance, Mitch could see what appeared to be a jungle outside of the large casino area. What struck as weird to Mitch was that over the casino was a black, night sky, but over the jungle was a bright, sunny sky (Mitch took it back as a swarm of rainclouds randomly filled the sky and poured down rain, before disappearing after seconds).
Mitch stood up, helping is bacca friend up as well. Mat jumped out of the vent sharing a reaction similar to Mitch and Jerome's.
"Umm, guys?" Mitch said, pointing to the jungle in the distance. "I suggest we head that way, these mobs are making me uneasy."
"How do you suggest we get over there, exactly? I can't even see the ground from up here!" Jerome asked with a raised eyebrow. Mitch thought for a second, before he spotted something.
"I have an idea!" Mitch exclaimed. "Follow me!" Mitch quickly ran over to the spot he had found, passing by different mobs with surprised looks on their faces. Mitch stopped as the edge of the carpeted platform. "Right here... guys?"
Mitch had turned around to show the guys what he had found, but his friends were on the opposite side of the platform, with their jaws wide open. "What...? How...?" Mitch looked down to see that his he was glowing a faint blue, which quickly faded away. Mitch watched as Mat and Jerome made their way over, avoiding the mobs that were beginning to chase after them.
Mitch tapped his foot impatiently. He looked behind him, at what he hoped would work as an escape plan... a giant, skyscraper sized, pinball machine.
