Ultimate Dance Moves

"The Training Camp was interrupted," Aizawa said, "But the practice you did get in to develop your Quirks was part of the process needed to create these defining abilities." Behind him, the stone guy was creating large pillars, about twenty-one of them. "Now that you're caught up, you'll be working hard to develop powerful moves of your own for the next ten days or so. This is how you will spend the remainder of your summer vacation. Prepare for intensive training." Everyone went still and quiet, a deep focus was consuming everyone here... they were all ready for this. "In addition, you should think about how you can improve your costumes. Especially now that you have a better understanding of your Quirks. I accept each of you to go Plus Ultra. Do you have it in you?"

"Yes, Sir!" Several people said at once. I took a deep breath and moved with Bakugou away from all the others.

"You know we have separate platforms," He told me, "So, get to yours. You're behind all of us in training."

"I-I just wanted to... thank you... again..." I said and took a step back from him, though he didn't move any farther away from me. He stood still, his back still facing me, tension running through every inch of him. "I-If not for you... I don't think the Heroes would have ever found me..."

"Don't thank me for that," He said and finally turned to face me, his gaze intense and strong, wanting to protect the frail girl standing before him, "Just go train hard, and make sure that you're strong enough to protect someone else if they're ever in a situation like yours." Situation... like mine...

"I will," I promised and turned back on my heel, "You do the same, alright Bakugou?" He didn't stick around to answer me, but his silent grunt was enough for me.

Aizawa brought me to my own post for training, it was shorter than all the others, closer to the front of the building, and he stuck around for a little bit to watch me. The purple and yellow guy was there... I still didn't know his name.

"You don't have a fixed attack style yet," They said, "So, we're going to have to teach you from scratch and use other skills you have to make the style all your own. Do you have anything to add Mr. Aizawa?"

"No, I'm simply here to watch and see what she's capable of," He replied, "She's still very new to things like this, and should she land a critical hit I don't want her to be concerned with the aftereffects of your Quirk." He nodded and let me carry on with my training. I've learned to fight before, but this was a new kind of training, one that I'd never done before... Something that I could use to help me... no... I looked towards Bakugou who was working hard, who was willing to do anything he could do. Something to protect others.

"Tell me what you can do? Something that you're good at?" They asked, and I thought slowly, carefully...

"I'm good at..." I thought for another minute. The sudden sounds of the rest of the class training behind me made me scared, but I still stood with my back to them, knowing that if I looked I would be even more terrified. "Puzzles... numbers..." I thought again of the girl Kirishima reminded me of, the bright girl who would spin and dance in front of her Mom as if that was the only person in the world. Then the same girl... who only just months ago, would spin and dance, much better than the child in the cold dark room that I once called my life. "I can... I can dance." Confidence was falling from my tone, but my shaking figure was all they could see.

"Ectoplasm," Mr. Aizawa said and moved beside me, "I know she's afraid, but turn so she's facing the rest of the class, and your back is to them, then do what you can from there. I have to watch the others." I didn't say anything as Mr. Aizawa walked away, and the purple and yellow teacher, who I now knew was Ectoplasm, switched sides with me. He gave me a few minutes to take in the sights and sounds of the other's Quirks and let my body still. Everyone was working hard, fighting with everything they had so they could keep moving forward. Green and yellow lights set off and dust-filled several areas around the back corners. It was an array of strength... of hope and passion. Every student here had a fire blazing inside of them.

So, where was mine?

"Why do you want to be a Hero?" Ectoplasm asked me once Mr. Aizawa was out of earshot, "I know you made the choice to be in this course, Principal Nezu never would have forced you to do this. So, I'd like to know why."

"Why..." I said as I stared at the palms of my hands, my left hand still had a scar that ran through the center of my palm, something Recovery Girl couldn't heal. While my right hand was pale and thin, but behind its appearance, it was very strong.

"I was once a Hero," She told me whenever I asked about my Dad, "And a Villain to many as well. I was what some people called 'the fine line'. You though, you can be more than that Nana. You look just like your Father, and there's a small part of his strength in you somewhere... once you find it, I'm absolutely sure that you could be a Hero... just like him."

"I want to be a Hero..." I whispered and clenched my fists together, "Because that's what my Dad was... I-I never knew him... but my Mom knew I could be like him. She wanted me to have his strength and find it... I want to find it... to use that strength and keep others away from the situation I was in." I caught Kirishima in my line of sight, Bakugou, Midoriya, Momo, even Iida, and Todoroki. They had tried to save me... but that try wasn't enough, despite being stronger than me, none of us were strong enough to reach me. "I'm going to protect people."

"That," Ectoplasm said with a nod, "That 'going to' is enough reason to get started now, and despite what you think dance can be used with fighting, depending on how good you are. Show me what you can do, but as you dance, think about how each move could be used to either attack or defend against an opponent." I nodded and began slowly.

Simple things came back to me quickly, then as I kept going I found myself seeing each new step I was taking, each move a new attack I could use, each flip back a better way to defend. Over time I saw my spins with an extended leg turn into a powerful kick. When I flipped back I could use that to avoid one of Ectoplasm's attacks, and soon enough... my body was moving on its own. In a real fight. But that soon enough ended quickly once, my mind began to turn dizzy and my body was falling back onto the stones.

"You spin too much, but your style is unique to what you've learned on your own," He told me, "Take a minute to rest your mind. Then we'll try again without using any spins." I didn't move, I stayed sprawled out on the ground with my arms and legs wide, my eyes shut.

"Seems like you've made a lot of progress," A voice said as they approached us. I sat up quickly once I caught the sound and feel of their steps, which made my head spin even more. Despite the mess of vision I could see... three All Mights? "You figured out your style?" He sat down beside me as I nodded, my vision clearing a bit to show only one of him. "I remember from Kamino that you had some basic knowledge on fighting, and on my way up now, you looked like you had an idea on the kind of style you wanted to use."

"I was dancing," I told him, "I remember that more than the training..."

"Did your Mom teach you, too fight and dance?" He asked and I shook my head.

"My Mom was with me for a short time, when I was really little," I said to him, "I was alone for most of the day in a big room we shared, with a single window to the building next to us. A woman there would show me how to fight through the windows when I was alone. Once my Mom found out she showed me how to dance, saying that knowing both would help me."

"That's the most I've heard you say," He said with a bright smile, thinking I had made a lot of improvement. Sadly, I know I didn't. This is the first time I've really brought up my Mom with him. Though I told Kirishima this same shorter story, I only spoke more because my trust for All Might was much greater. "Did you find a way to use your Quirk?"

"I-... I still don't..." I could feel tears coming, I wanted to completely ignore these memories that came with his question. I could never tell him this, that the whole reason I was there, is because I had the same Quirk as my Mom. The only Quirk that All For One could never take from anyone.

"That's fine," He said and brought my attention back to right now, "You're still worried and scared about what happened there, I can tell. Though you haven't told any of us what was going on, I have a feeling that it has to do with your Quirk. That was his main focus after all." I shook and looked away, trembling before All Might like the same pained and scared girl I once was. "I don't expect you want to use your Quirk, I honestly don't expect you to even know what it is, but you should consider finding it out. That could be the difference between a fight you win and a fight you lose."

"Like you and All For One," I said without thinking. I didn't even notice I had said anything at all before he replied.

"You're right," He said as he turned around and looked at everyone else. I followed his motions and watched each of them carefully. "My Quirk, in the end, was what helped me save others. If it was ever used in the wrong hands it would have been a lot worse." I stared at my hands for a minute. Remembering the one time she used her Quirk, she did it to protect me... she told me I could do the same things as her... but what she did... me trying it... that was the whole reason I was scared of this power. The whole reason I ignored it from the start and pushed it deep inside. "Keep training." He stands and heads off. "Honestly, I think you're much farther along than you think. Keep working hard." I nodded and watched him walk away. A small flicker of questions still lingering, one's I'd ask him again at another time.

"Shall we get back to it?" Ectoplasm asked, reminding me he was there. I stood up, my back facing my class once more as I pushed a small amount of hair out of my face, just enough for one of my bright blue eyes to show.
