Tw: Violence, mean Rex.

This is a direct continuation of Villain's epilogue.

I love it, I think it's my favourite so far.

Clone troopers scrambled to where the shot had come from, per their captain's orders. They sprinted and he walked at a leisurely pace.

Kara hurried to pack up her rifle. As she tried to stuff it into the case, she glanced up to see the troopers raising their blasters, within shooting distance. So she threw the sniper rifle at them and ran away, casting a pitying look over her shoulder at them.

Clones were loyal, so why had they killed the Jedi?

Why had they joined the Empire?

Kara could've spent all week mulling it over, but focused on the movement of her legs as she pushed forwards, hiding in the forest. She climbed a tree and held her breath as the clones searching for her passed by.

Then their captain stopped at a different tree, scanning the top of it for any sign of her.

He repeats the motion with a couple other tree before getting to hers, and she made eye contact with his visor as he locked onto her.

"Why don't you come down?" he softly said. "And we can talk?"

Kara almost slipped from the tree into his arms.

Almost.

"How do I know it's really you?" Kara adjusted her hair that was simply held back by a hair tie. No braid. She hadn't had a braid since Rex had 'died'. "You could just be some weirdo who likes dressing like him."

He chuckled and removed the helmet. "I've missed this."

Kara's eyes landed on his face with the little crinkles beside his eyes, and his buzzed blonde hair. She wanted to be in his arms, knowing she was safe.

But she didn't move.

"Come down," Rex gently requested. "Then we can go home together."

Kara was no fool. "If you want to come home, then why haven't you left yet? Why are you still here?"

"I've been waiting for you." Rex glanced down at his feet before looking back up, tears brimming in his eyes. "I knew you'd come."

"I'm surprised they let you keep your paint," Kara remarked. "Every other clone I've seen looks like a shiny."

"Lord Vader has been generous," Rex said, pointing his chin to the direction they had came- the direction of the Sith. "I do as he says and he remains kind to me. It's a great deal."

"Do you really want to come back with me?" Kara asked, legs sliding out from under her to dangle freely.

"Yes." Rex's lips quivered. "They've made me do terrible things. I've had to capture children! You remember how much I love kids."

"You were great with my brother," Kara agreed. She sighed and slumped. "How can I be sure-"

Her slumping made her legs dangle just a bit further, and he grabbed them. He roughly pulled her out of the tree, and she fell next to him.

He twisted her arms behind her back, resting his chin on her shoulder. "You've grown soft."

Kara struggled to escape, knocking her head back into his. He was without his helmet and yelped as her head hit his nose. His grip loosened for a fraction of a second, and she was able to spring away.

"I can't believe you!" Kara exclaimed, kicking his stomach. "You're not the Rex I knew. You're almost as bad as Coda!"

Rex's lips twitched before peeling back into a malicious grin. "Coda was right. The Republic was a mess. He was wrong to choose the Separatists, though. The Empire is the right side."

"I can't believe I loved you!" Kara punched his chin, getting punched in the gut in return.

Rex paused, breath hitching and letting her land another hit. "Y-You loved me?"

"Yes I did you kriffing idiot!" Kara furiously said, kicking the back of his knees. "And I still do, even though you're being a moron!"

Rex fell, not fighting back anymore. "You still love me?"

Kara's hands clenched up into fists that she held at her sides. "Yes, but you went and joined some stupid Empire without even telling me you were alive!"

Rex shakily stood up, reaching out before pulling his hands back. Kara nervously held a hand out, relief filling her when he took it, gloved fingers gingerly holdings hers as if he thought she would blow away.

"I can't believe you love me," Rex whispered, forehead pressing against hers in a tender action.

"I can't believe it either," Kara joked.

His lips parted slightly and he inclined his head.

Kara practically melted as he placed a finger below her chin, raising her head so she looked him in the eyes.

Then he kissed her, putting his hands on the sides of her face. Her own hands went to the back of his neck, holding him close.

Everything in the galaxy was right, now that she had Rex back from the clutches of the Empire.

He pulled away with a heavy sigh. "I forgot how nice that was."

"I'm insulted you forgot," Kara mockingly said, her arms still around him.

Rex kissed her forehead and her heart ached. She was elated to have precious moments like these back.

"I can't wait to go home with you," Rex mumbled, stroking her hair.

"Alex has missed you," Kara told him.

"And I can't wait to see him. Lord Vader has been looking for Force sensitive children. He'll be pleased when I bring him your brother. You'll be so easy to break, too," Rex crooned.

Kara tensed. "What?"

"I'll break you." Rex tapped her head. "You'll tell me where your brother is. Then Lord Vader will decide what to do with him."

"Good luck with that when I'm not around." Kara sneered and stepped back.

His hand wrapped around her wrist. "Don't make me use force."

"Why?" Kara was hoping it was because somewhere inside, he still cared. Maybe deep in him he was screaming for help.

"I'd hate to scar such a pretty face." Rex smiled, the corners of his eyes wrinkling.

They could hear the other troopers returning, having given up on trying to catch her. They remained still, each silently daring the other to move first.

"When I leave, I want you to think back to when you convinced me to switch sides," Kara said, slowly moving backwards. "Think back to all that you did to me; all the chances you gave me."

"How come?" Rex narrowed his eyes with suspicion. He stalked towards her, and she tripped over a tree root, falling to the ground. "Are you going to tell me you can change me? Are you going to tell me that you know the true me? Are you going to say that you can help me?"

"I'm going to tell you that I'm not going to give you all those chances. This is your one chance. If you come after my brother, I will kill you," Kara promised. "I don't care that I used to love you or that we had something between us. I will kill you if you threaten my brother again."

"And I will capture you and bring you back. I will lock you in a cell and force you to tell me where he is. I will drag him past your cell and make you watch as Lord Vader deals with him. You will plead for his life and to spare him," Rex promised in response.

"Sounds like my average Taungsday," Kara said before throwing a handful of dirt into his eyes and sprinting away.
