Zoe's POV:

I appeared in the middle of a highly wooded area and I put my hood over my head. I then race toward a tree before jumping and extending my left hand, suddenly a hooked blade shoots out and grabs onto the branch and I pull myself up before I retract the blade. I smiled at the gift Tartarus got me as it helped improve my mobility. Snapping out of my brief memories I scan my surroundings and I realize I am in Yellowstone National Park, I smirk and start leaping from tree to tree trying to find a certain male.

'I wonder where he could be' I think to myself as I hear a faint 'twang' of a bow being shot and I smirk as I head towards it

As I get nearer to the noise I hear a bunch of grumbling and I slow down to see a familiar male figure kneeling next to a deer with a hunting knife in his hand as he skinned the animal.

"I know you're there huntress, you can't hide from me" I heard the male say and I smirked as I didn't move "I gave you the chance to talk peacefully Huntress" the male continued as he stood up and gripped his bow before notching an arrow and drawing the string back and aimed in my direction

Orion released his arrow and I shadow traveled to the ground and stepped into the clearing, causing Orion to raise an eyebrow.

"Well, I was not expecting this. My apologies" Orion said respectfully as I walked up to him and reared back a gloved hand before swinging it right at his face

The sound of me slapping Orion was loud enough it would cause anyone to wince. But I took great satisfaction in seeing Orion holding his cheek in pain as he looked at me with anger, then confusion.

"Who the Hades are you? And how did you slap so hard!" Orion said and I growled

"Don't use my father's name in vain, Orion" I say and his eye widens in shock as the mechanical one seemed to lighten up in surprise

"I remember that voice..." Orion said and I chuckled

"Yes, you do. But call me Umbra as no one knows who I really am. Also, your ex-brother sends his greetings" I say and Orion mouths out 'ex-brother?'

"Wait, you mean Per..." Orion starts to say but I bring my hand to my throat and make a cutting motion that shuts him up

"Yes. He is currently in Tartarus after half of the Olympian council banished him there. Now, I don't like doing this, but I am asking you for a bit of help defending against the attack that Akhlys has started on the mortal world" I say and Orion nods

"She tried to get me to join, but I refused and she just moved on. I know where they should be though." Orion says as he gathers up his things and lights a match before torching the deer carcass

After Orion burnt the animal I somehow knew that he sacrificed it to the gods. He then looked at me.

"Follow me, I can lead you to where the demigods have set up their defenses." I nod and Orion is about to start running but I shake my head

"Just tell me where they are, I can shadow travel us there" I say and Orion nods

"Well, considering they are trying to defend Olympus, they should be in New York" Orion says and I groan but I put a hand on his shoulder and we drop into the surrounding shadows

Annabeth's POV:

'I'm such an idiot' I thought to myself as I watched the fourth Cohort retreat from one of the bridges that they were sent to defend.

The Cohort was good but they were heavily outnumbered, but thanks to Ron and Tracy, who returned from Tartarus a few weeks ago, no one was killed. I smiled sadly at the two demigods as they reminded me so much of myself and Percy.

Percy, gods I miss him. When he caught me kissing Daniel that fateful night thirty years ago, I knew I ruined everything. I thought Percy left camp because he found some other girl to love, I was so stupid. It was only when I realized it was too late when I remembered that his fatal flaw was personal loyalty. I was shunned by the camp. Even Thalia for a while as she was angry at me for not thinking clearly. Though eventually, after a lot of apologizing and admitting that I was stupid and I need to learn to not be jealous. I'm brought back to the real world by my friend Piper shaking my shoulders.

"Annabeth! Focus, now is not the time to be lost in your past! If we don't hold the empire state building all of this will be for naught!" Piper said and I nodded

"Right, sorry. So, what is the status on things?" I asked

"The Romans are battered but they say they can go for a while if they just get some rest. Thalia and the hunters are holding their own but they are scattered amongst the other groups who are taking a beating. Nico is summoning the dead to protect one of the bridges that we had to abandon to reinforce other points." Piper said as Frank, Jason, and Leo ran in, covered in bruises, cuts, and burns, golden ichor staining their clothes from us being gods of heroes after Percy disappeared for good

"Bad news, Queens Tunnel has been lost, the enemy forces now have an access point into the city. Do we have any reinforcements?" Jason says and I shake my head as I notice that all the possible reinforcements just came back from being pushed back

I slam my head on the table and cry slightly.

"This whole situation is miserable! Without Percy, we can't defend anything." I shout as I see Reyna come in with her two dogs Aurum and Argentum

"Annabeth, where are the gods? I thought they were supposed to help" Reyna says and I shake my head

"They said they are dealing with other problems, apparently a few titans have been released so the gods are going to fight them." I say and Reyna's face falls

Just then, an iris message appears and it shows the group who were sent to defend Queen's tunnel.

"Annabeth! You won't believe what is happening!" the demigod who I remember is named Matthew a son of Apollo's Roman form exclaims

"I know, you're being overrun. I'm trying to find some reinforcements for you now" I say but Matthew just shakes his head

"No, quite the opposite is happening right now!" Matt says and I look at Jason who has a shocked expression "A shower of arrows just rained down from the sky and took out a good chunk of the attacking forces. At first, I thought it was the hunters, or maybe my Greek brethren, but it turns out it was Orion! He is currently on the ground helping anyone who needs it the most." Matt continued but was cut off by a 'Hey! Sun Spot! I could use a little help over here! I may be Immortal but I can still be killed!' "Gotta go!" Matt said as he swiped through the connection

"Orion is alive? And Helping?" Reyna says incredulously and I look at her with a look that shows her that I don't have the answer

"I don..." I start but I'm cut off by Nico appearing in a nearby shadow looking completely exhausted "Nico are you alright?" I say worriedly but Nico just shrugs me off

"I'm fine, destroyed a bridge so the enemy could use it but I don't think I can do that again. Sorry to say that I am struggling to stay awake" Nico says and another iris message appears with Clarisse looking worse for wear

"Annabeth, is Ronald McDonald with you?" Clarisse says and I raise an eyebrow "Nico" She says simply

"Yeah why?" I say and I let Nico be seen

"Thanks for the undead reinforcements. Nearly lost my head battling a couple of hellhounds." Clarisse says and Nico steps back in confusion

"I haven't summoned any undead since I destroyed the bridge that Cohort five was defending. After that I didn't summon any more as I had to save my energy to destroy the bridge that Cohort four had to give up." Nico said and Clarisse looked stunned but I looked past her to see a hellhound leap at her only to be shot in the neck by a bright silver arrow

The arrow looked like one of the hunters, but I knew that Thalia didn't send any hunters to help Clarisse.

"Well, whoever it is. If you see them before I do, tell them I said thanks" Clarisse said before turning around and yell bloody murder as her spear crackled with electricity and the message cut out

I turn to the others who look just as confused as I do when yet another iris message shows up, this one however is from Malcom, my half-brother.

"Annabeth! The Nemean Lion..." He starts but I quickly cut him off

"I'll have Thalia send hunters over as soon as poss..." I being to say but Malcom cuts me off by continuing his sentence

"Is helping us! The Nemean lion is helping push back a drakon" Malcom explains before he cuts the message

Over the next few hours the same reports come in, either Orion, a hooded person who seems to appear out of shadows of buildings either summoning undead or shooting monsters at a faster speed than most hunters, or the Nemean lion bounding into the enemy and tearing it to pieces. I once got an iris message of Kinzie and Hylla on the Nemean Lion's back riding into the oncoming forces and I had to admit it was a terrifying sight. However, as the day's battles ended and both armies withdrew, I was actually hoping I would catch a glimpse of Orion, the hooded person, and Monster.

"Annabeth!" I heard Thalia call me from outside

I quickly jogged out and stopped in my tracks as the three I wanted to see were waiting outside of the building we borrowed for the war. After we made sure that all the civilians were safely in the basement of course.

"Hello, you must be Annabeth, the current commander of the forces defending Olympus" Orion said and I nodded numbly "I'm Orion, this is someone who doesn't wish to say her name for reasons of 'bleh', which I find are really good reasons, and this is the Nemean lion" Orion said in a tone of voice that sounded humorous as well as serious

"Yes, I am Annabeth Chase, Daughter of Athena, Architect of Olympus, Girlfriend of Percy Jackson" I said proudly until Orion's smile vanished to one of pure loathing at the last part of my introduction

"Don't even think yourself as my brother's girlfriend, or I will go against my promise to not harm a hair on your head thanks to my companion" Orion said deadly serious and I felt myself pale a little

"Sorry..." I said and hung my head but Orion just sighed

"Don't make the same mistake again. Now, we will continue to help as long as this threat is among you, but I ask for one thing." Orion says and I nod

"Keep those blasted hunters away from me, I respect them now yes, but they still hate me. I'm also pretty sure that Reyna girl hates me as well but she has earned my respect." Orion said and I nodded

"Of course, if there is anything you need, don't hesitate to ask" I say quickly and Orion, the Lion, and the hooded person walked away just as Ron and Tracy walked up

"Who are they?" Ron asked and I turned to him

"Very powerful allies" I said simply before I turned and walked back into our HQ to begin the next day's battle plans

Over the next few days things seemed to take a turn for the better. We kept casualties at Zero thanks to Orion providing cover fire for retreating groups. The hooded person kept summoning undead to help Nico provide reinforcements. Nico was honestly surprised that the person could surpass him in using his powers. Nico asked about it one time but didn't receive a response except for one word 'Training'. The Nemean lion played one of the biggest parts though, it rose the demigod army's moral, it led charges of oncoming enemy forces, it also helped take out the bigger monsters, such as a few drakons, and fully-grown cyclops'. However, the good luck soon ended as I saw the Chimera appear along with Echidna. As soon as they showed up, our forces were being pushed back once again, then the Titans appeared. I saw Perses, the Titan of Destruction, along with Oceanus and Tethys. By this time, I had almost given up hope in ever winning this war. But, Orion, the hooded person, and the Nemean lion kept fighting just as if not more vigorously. A week after the Titans appeared we were pushed to the Empire state building for a final stand. Surprisingly, we didn't lose a single person but most of them were very injured and unable to fight so they were put on Olympus, and I while I was thankful I was worried about why that was.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here sonny?" Echidna said in a sickly-sweet voice and I nearly gagged

"Shut up Echidna, let's just kill each last one of these pathetic whelps so we can tear down Olympus!" Perses said as he brandished his sword

"Quiet!" I heard a familiar voice choke out and I knew why we couldn't win

The mass of monsters and Titans spread apart to reveal Akhlys, the goddess of misery.

"Oh, hello Annabeth Chase. Where is your boyfriend, what was his name? Percy Jackson?" Akhlys said in a teasing voice which sounded weird with her current state

"He's dead..." I said bitterly as I held back tears

"Oh, too bad. As I'm pretty sure he would relish the fact that you, his 'Oh so caring and loving girlfriend' was about to be killed slowly and painfully" Akhlys said and I felt the first tear slide down my cheek

"Hey, why don't you pick on someone who looks as hideous as yourself!" I heard Jason yell as he summoned a lightning bolt on the monster army

I looked at him and I noticed that he was sparking with electricity, Nico was pulsing with a dark aura, I saw Piper growling, Frank had changed into a smaller sized dragon, Leo was on fire, Hazel was levitating gems around her and I noticed the other cabin leaders who were made immortal looking like they were ready for their last stand. Then I saw Ron and Tracy step forward in front of all of us, which caused us a big deal of confusion.

"Hey, sunshine, why don't we all have a good laugh" Ron said mockingly but I saw Akhlys cringe which caused Ron to smile a cruel smile as he pulled brandished a black metal sword

I looked at the sword in confusion and fear as it radiated an aura that promised pain and death. I looked at Leo who just stared at the blade in awe.

"And who might you be wench?" Perses snarled as he glared at Ron who didn't back down

"The one who is going to kill you all. Tracy, how much longer until the gods can get free of their imprisonment?" Ron asked and Tracy held up the fingers and Ron just smirked

"That's all I need" with that Ron rushed forward toward the massive army of monsters

"How pathetic, Perses kill the insect" Akhlys said and Perses surged forward and brought his sword down in a deadly arc that I was sure would just cleave through Ron's sword

However, I was shocked to see that Ron didn't back down from the Titan. That's when he started to gain a red aura.

Ron's POV:

As Perses swung downward I swung my sword to intercept the strike. I remembered the words of the voice that accompanied the action of picking up the sword.

(flashback)

I was riding on a Scooter with Tracy that we found when running to where the Romans needed help. Suddenly the scooter pitched forward and Tracy and I landed on the pavement before sliding a small amount.

"Gods!" I hissed as I felt my forearm sting from sliding

I looked at what caused the accident and saw a deadly looking broadsword. I walked over to it as Tracy knelt down and studied it.

"It doesn't look like any godly metal we know of" Tracy said and I nodded

"Well, a weapon is a weapon, it will help in the upcoming fights" I said as I reached down and picked the sword up

"Use this sword only when fighting beings of greater power than yourself, do not rely on it to protect you from simple minded creatures such as monsters. This sword will vanish when you fulfill your part in this war" a voice sounded from the sword but then faded as quickly as it came

(Flashback end)

I focus on the fight as I parry Perses' next attack. I then jump towards him and I thrust forward with the sword that I called Shadow's Vengeance. Perses stepped to the side and attempted to kick the sword out of my hand. But as if the sword had a mind of its own, the blade twisted in my hands until it was positioned in such a way where I could use Perses' own power against him. As Perses' foot got closer I held my ground and once the two made contact the sword gained a black aura as it easily sliced through Perses' foot.

"The blade craves the blood of immortals, give into its power and claim victory son of Ares" The voice boomed and everyone looked at me as I smirked

"I guess there is only one thing left to say now" I said with a smirk as I saw Perses on the floor holding his foot in agony "For Olympus!" I shouted as I sliced Perses' head off and the sword hummed with approval

With that, I charged the remaining group of the enemy army. I heard a loud war cry and I knew that the demigod army was right behind me.

'Let's get bloody' I thought as the sword hummed more and I gained a smile that bordered on madness
