Chapter 8: In The Mine

Brine's POV (Still)

I fell, it was complete darkness. I screamed and waited to feel the impact of stone, but instead felt something cold. I touched the bottom. I opened my eyes and I noticed I was in water. I looked around and saw Steve grabbing Alex out of the water. He looked over and saw me. He motioned for me to help him. I nodded and swam over to him, helping him get Alex out of the water. We lifted her up, placing her on the stone. Steve placed down a torch so we can see. I placed Alex's head on my knees and looked down at her, she was breathing peacefully. "Is she breathing?" Steve asked, kneeling next to me. I nodded. "Did you send the message?" I asked, giving him the ink. "I lost the chest when I fell," He said, looking up. I sighed. "Guess we gotta find a way out?" I asked, grabbing Alex, bridal style, and standing up. "Woah, woah, who said you were going to carry her?" Steve asked, about to take her away from me. "You have a sword," I said, yanking her back. He sighed. "Fine, but don't get any ideas." I nodded. He grabbed the torch from the ground and took out his diamond sword. "How did you keep the sword but lost the chest?" He shrugged. "She happened to push me while I was holding it, okay?" "Pushed!" I shouted, sounding surprised. "It was an, accident." I shrugged. "You lead," I said. He nodded and started walking, me following with Alex in my hands.

"Why don't we get some iron?" Steve asked, pointing at some iron ore. I shrugged. Steve placed the torch again and mined the iron. "How is that going to help?" I asked. "I always bring wood, just in case," He said, taking out some wood. "And?" He groaned. "I can make a sword for you?" I did an 'o' with my mouth. "Yeah," He said, nodding. "But, I have her in my hands, how can I fight like that?" "I don't know, levitate the sword of something," He explained, making a crafting table. "It's not that simple you know." He rolled his eyes and made a furnace. "Shoot, I got no coal," He said, putting the iron into the furnace. " I have to find some coal," Steve said. "What about us?" I asked. "Here," He said, giving me a wooden sword. "Really?" I asked, as he placed it against the wall. He shrugged. "I'll leave the torch too," He said before leaving to find some coal. I sighed and placed Alex on the ground, her leaning against the wall. I grabbed the sword and looked around. "I hope we're safe here, with this torch, and sword." I said looking around hoping nothing would attack us.

Alex's POV

I looked around and saw nothing but white. "Hello?" I shouted, it echoing in all directions. "Hello dear Alex," A familiar voice said. I turned around and saw, him, standing there. "How did you get here? Where am I?" I shouted, my hands turning into a fist. "Do not worry my dear neph-" "I'm not your nephew!" I shouted back, interrupting him. He stood silent, looking down. "Wow, just like my dear son," He finally said. I crossed my arms. "He's nothing like you, why do you even consider him your son?" I asked, looking away. He chuckled, then turning it into an evil menacing laugh. "What's so funny?!" I shouted, getting impatient. "You think he's really innocent huh? He said giving me an evil stare, and a grin. I stood silent. What does he mean? "I'll tell you what I mean," He said, lifting up his hand. Next thing I know, a body teleports next to him. The person was lying down, not breathing. "Wha-wha?" I asked, putting my hands over my mouth, in shock. "Wh-who is that?" I asked, still covering my mouth. "You remember that one fellow, Ivan?" I nodded.

Ivan had gone to the Nether to retrieve some goods there, but never came back.

"Brine would never-" I started, but got interrupted by him laughing. "Oh he did, would you like to see?" He asked. I stood still, but sighed, meaning yes. He laughed once again and snapped his fingers. Everything was pitch black, then I saw some light. It showed a screen...it was looking through Brine's eyes.

It showed him in his room, looking at the fence window. There was a knock on the door. "Coming," Brine said, walking over to the door. He opened it, and there was a blaze floating there. "Your father would like to see you," It said, then floating away. Brine sighed and started walking through the confusing Nether Fortress. "What does this have to do with anything?" I asked, looking over at him, who was standing next to me. "Oh, impatient are we?" I groaned and nodded. He snapped his fingers once again, making the screen go to a different scene. The screen was mixed with the color of red, and a voice echoing, "Kill him, kill him." Brine walked closer and closer to Ivan, holding a blood red sword (know that from Brine?). "Please, have mercy!" Ivan kept shouting, getting backed up into a corner. "As if," Brine said, in a dark raspy voice. Brine raised the sword then brought it down on Ivan. I closed my eyes, I didn't want to see the blood. "Now you believe me?" He said, looking over at me. I looked away, trying not to make eye contact and cry. "Take me back," I said, holding back tears. He chuckled. "Just be careful," He said, before snapping his fingers. Everything went white, then black.

I opened my eyes and saw the light of a torch. I looked around and noticed I was in a cave. I looked to my right and saw Brine standing there, holding a wooden sword. I looked away, I really didn't want to see him right now. "Alex?" Brine asked, walking up next to me. I closed my eyes and pretended I was asleep still. "You're not asleep, I can tell," He said, putting his hand on my right shoulder. I sighed. "What happened?" I asked, trying not to think about what just happened. "We fell into a cave and you were passed out from the water." "Where's Steve?" I asked, noticing Steve wasn't here. "He went to get coal," He answered, pointing to a furnace that was next to a crafting table. I nodded. "Are you okay?" He asked, sitting next to me. "Y-yeah, it's nothing," I said, looking down at the necklace he gave me. "I'm not very convinced," He replied. I sighed. "I, just, saw something that startled me," I said. "Like what?" "Him." There was an awkward moment of silence. "What did he do?" Brine asked, looking down. "Have you e-ever killed?" I asked. Brine sighed. "I don't remember." "What?" I asked. "I remember someone, I don't know their name, but I saw them, and I don't remember the rest." I don't know if what he said made me feel better, or worse. "O-oh, I-I see. Bu-" Brine placed a finger on my mouth. "Hey," I said, moving the finger away. "Shh, I heard something." He stood up and slowly walked to the right, sword ready to attack. "Hello?" He asked. "Hey," A voice said.
