Chapter 5: The Truth

Brine's POV (Still)

"You're Notch?!" I exclaimed, still sitting down. The man nodded, but calmly. "Yes, that's true." "Yeah, stupid," Steve said, whispering stupid. I stood up, facing him. "Well I'm sorry! My father's been telling me things that I didn't know were true!" "Maybe you shouldn't listen to that demon!" "Steve!" Notch shouted. Steve looked at him and groaned. "Go to your room, now." Steve looked at me before storming out of the room. "I'm sorry about him, he gets very protective and aggressive." I nodded and sat back down. "Father, how do you know that stuff though?" "What stuff?" I asked. "Well, he told me that, the reason my mom died was because of...of.." Alex then started to tear up. I was about to give her a 'hug' but she ran out of the room. "Did my father, kill, her mother?" I asked. Notch sighed and nodded. "Yes, and in the process burnt down an entire village." "What?" Notch nodded once again and stood up. "A bunch of years ago, he lived here Brine," He said, walking to the huge window and staring out it. "Really?" He nodded, his back facing me. "We ruled this land together. He would destroy the things that were bad or evil. I would create those needed or what is needed." I turned the chair around to listen better. "Then, one day, something happened."

Flashback

Notch's POV

"Error occurred. Error occured," My computer said. I had been trying to create a new mob, but it failed. "Oh no! Herobrine!" I shouted. I saw my brother run down the stairs. "What is it?" He asked. I pointed at the computer. He ran over next to me. "Do something?" He said. I started typing. The computer stopped, then said, "Error shut down." We both sighed in relief, but it didn't last long. "Error improved." "What?!" Herobrine shouted. "What is the error programmed to do?" I asked the computer. It made some robotic noises before saying, "Destroy mother, destroy mother." "Mother!" Herobrine shouted. "We have to stop those things!" I shouted. We grabbed some swords and ran to our mother's house. But, by the time we got there, it was too late. The house was burnt, and strange error zombies were walking around it. "MoThEr!" Herobrine shouted, in a glitched voice. "No, no," I said, collapsing to my knees. "It'S yOuR fAuLt!" Herobrine said, again, in a glitched out voice.

End of Flashback

"Then, he went mad. Destroyed everything I created, took the blame on me, killed my wife," He said, in a very sad tone. While I was listening, I kept putting my head lower and lower, till it was facing the ground. "My father? Did all that?" I asked, still facing the ground. Notch nodded. "So, that makes you my uncle?" I asked. Notch said nothing, probably meaning he doesn't know. "I think I should head back to where I belong," I said, standing up, not leaving my eyes off the ground. I felt an arm grab my wrist. I looked at it and saw it was Notch's arm. "No, you don't deserve down there. You deserve better, " He said. I shook my head. "If my father did that, who says I won't." There was an awkward moment of silence. "I was told something before your father was sent below." I looked at him. "You will not escape...but you will have fate...in a little one that shall come and help this world." "That's the same thing I would hear in my dreams," I said back. "What dreams?" He asked me. I sat back in the middle chair, and he sat next to me on my left. "Well, it would began with fire, everything in chaos," I began. "I would see a man, you, standing in front of me saying something, but I wouldn't hear what you are saying." Notch rested his head on his arms. "Then, I saw smoke from afar, then you collapsing on your knees." When I said that, Notch gave me a blank face, as if he knows what I'm talking about. "But then, everything would turn black, and I would hear those words you just said," I finished. Notch looked at me, with that blank face. "That's what happened, before I sent him to that dreadful place." "Why don't you make it better?" I asked. "I've tried, but I guess he likes it like that," He answered. I chuckled. "I sure don't." Notch did a small chuckle and rubbed my head. "Would you like some normal clothes?" I nodded, I was still in my clothes from earlier. He went to his desk and took out a white shirt, a blue hood, black pants, and grey shoes. "Is that Steve's?" I asked. Notch nodded. "Yeah, but it'll fit you, since you two are cousins." "Cousins?" I asked. Notch nodded and handed me the clothes. "Walk out the door and go up the stairs. One of the rooms will have a sign that says spare room." I nodded and walked out the doors. I looked to the window and saw Steve, leaning against it. "So, you know now?" He asked, looking down. "Yeah, and I'm really sorry for what my father did." Steve scoffed. "Just know that, the next time I see him, he's dead." I nodded slowly, then walked upstairs. That was....scary, I guess... I looked for a door with a sign that said, spare room. There were about, 15 rooms in this floor... great. "This will be easy," I exaggerated. I started looking at the rooms. After about 10, I sighed and sat down, with the clothes still in my hands. "You need any help?" I looked up and saw it was Alex. "Yes please!" She giggled and put her hand out. I grabbed it and lifted myself up. "Which room are you looking for?" "Spare room." She nodded and led me to the 13th room. "I was three more away!" She laughed, and then I joined. "So, if you need anything, I'm at the room right next to you." I looked at the 15th room and the sign said, Alex's Room. "Cool," I said. She smiled and went to her room. I went into, I guess, 'my' room. Inside there was a huge window to my right, a bed in the corner, a large chest to the left of me, and a desk against the window. I gasped at how grand the room was. I placed my clothes down on my bed and looked out the window. "I never want to leave," I whispered to myself. I looked at the window for a while, then went back to the bed. "Better change into something 'normal' here." I started getting dressed.

After I was done, I looked at myself in the mirror (he looks like the picture above but with brown eyes, no beard, and no pickaxe)

"Cool!" I said to myself. I did a few turns to see myself. "If only brother could see me now." I gasped. I left my brother there. "He'll be fine, I hope." I heard a knock on the door. I went to the door and outside was Alex. "So, I know that you haven't tried cake before so," She took out what they call 'cake' and gave it to me. "I made it for you!" "Wow! It looks great!" I said, staring at the brown and white food in my hands. "Just like you," She said. I looked at her and blushed. "Th-thanks," I answered back. We locked eyes for a minute, before getting interrupted. "What's up?" We looked at where the voice came from and it was Steve. "Hey brother!" Alex exclaimed, waving her hand. Steve gave me a glare before waving back at her. "Do you guys want to share?" I asked, gesturing to the cake. Alex clapped yes and Steve nodded. "Come on in," I said, moving to the side so they can come in. Alex skipped in happily, but Steve stopped and whispered to me," Don't get any ideas." I gulped and nodded. He nodded in satisfaction and walked in. Alex sat on the bed. "Question, do you sleep?" Steve asked, sitting on the chair in front of the desk. "Yeah, but it's not very comfy." Steve and Alex started laughing, me soon joining in. "Yeah, you would have a pretty, bomby night," Steve said, trying to make a good pun. Me and Alex laughed even harder when he said that, me almost dropping the cake. I calmed down and placed the cake on the desk, next to Steve. "So, mind telling me a bit more about you guys?" I asked, leaning against the desk. "Like what?" Steve asked, turning the chair to face me. "Well, he does only know that we're the children of Notch," Alex answered. "True, true." "So, my name is Alex, I'm 14 years olds. I like to play outside and meet new people... oh, and I love the bow!" Alex said, standing up as if she was in front of a class on the first day of school. "Really sis?" She shrugged and sat down on the bed. "Well, my name is Steve. I'm 16 (I don't know how old the two are in real life, I tried searching it up... :( nothing) and I'm the older brother. I like swords and fighting," Steve said, sitting in the chair the whole time. "Nice to meet you two!" I exclaimed. Alex did a little giggle, I smiled. "My name is Brine. I love to explore and learn as much as I can. My favorite weapon would be... my fists!" I exclaimed, putting my fist up. "Well, if you are good, let's do a one on one fist fight tomorrow," Steve said. I clapped my hands and nodded. "Besides all that, I would like some cake please!" Alex exclaimed, looking at the 'cake' on the desk. I chuckled.

Timeskip to after they ate the cake and Alex and Steve left the room

I sighed and laid on the bed. I looked down at the pajamas I found in the desk. It was a black shirt with a dirt block on it, checkered black and grey pants, and white pajamas sock (don't know what those types of socks are called) This is the first time I'm on a bed.. I laughed and pulled the blanket up to my neck. It was so warm, and the white rectangle thing called a 'pillow' was so fluffy. I dug my face into the 'pillow' and sighed. "Good night," I said, closing my eyes.

In Dream

"Hello!' I shouted. I looked around and saw nothing but an endless void of white. I was floating in it, no ground beneath me. "Why hello," I heard a voice say. I turned around and saw, him, floating there. I crossed my arms and looked away. "I see you really left." "How do you know?" I asked, still not looking. "How else am I in your dream, dear son?" I nodded. "True." "Come home, I-" "NO!" I shouted back. "The OverWorld is the most beautiful place I've ever scene!" "The other players are different though, you must be careful." I rolled my eyes. "Says the one who killed Notch's wife." "How do you know that?" I uncrossed my arms and sighed. "Uncle told me... everything." He stood still, one hand stretched out, the other beside him, and his face staring down into the endless white below. "I'm not going back... I knew you were a monster." He did an evil laugh, but, a bit glitched out. "It'S bEeN sO LoNg SiNcE sOmEoNe CaLlEd Me ThAt!" He shouted. I stepped, or floated, back, but he floated closer. "I wOuLd WaNt To CoMe HoMe If I wErE yOu!" I shook my head. "Why?" "YoU'rE a HeRoBrInE! AnYtHiNg CoUlD HaPpEn!" I instantly knew what he meant. I could just kill everyone if I wanted, if he gets to me. "Stay away from me and stay out of my head!" I shouted, pushing him away. He grabbed my hands and did an evil smile. "WhO sAyS?!" I tossed and turned, he wouldn't loosen his grip. "BrInE." "No!"

(HeRoBrInE/ Alex)

"BriNe."

"no..."

"WaKe up," two voices said.

(Normal now)

"NO!" I shouted, quickly getting up. I looked to my left and saw Alex in a pink shirt and blue pants, probably pajamas. "Are you okay Brine?!" I nodded and placed a hand on my head. "Just a nightmare." She sighed. "Breakfast is ready. I came to guide you there." I nodded and got out of bed. "Do you want to change first or what?" Alex asked. I shrugged. "Well, I'm staying in my PJ's!" She exclaimed, doing a little twirl. I chuckled. "If you are, I guess I will too." She smiled and grabbed the same arm she did when we left the Nether. "Let's go! To breakfast!" She exclaimed like a four year old. I laughed as she guided me down some stairs. "Ah, you two ready for breakfast?" Notch asked, who was sitting at a 4x4 table. "Yep," Alex answered, sitting next to her father. I sat next to Steve, who was sitting in front of Notch and me sitting in front of Alex. "The cookies and stew should be done soon," Notch said, taking a sip of his coffee. "Okay daddy," Alex said, in a childish tone. "Okay dad," Steve said. "Okay Notch." Notch chuckled and shook his head. "Call me Uncle." "Okay, Uncle," I corrected. He did a little chuckle before standing up and going to the kitchen. "So, what you guys wanna do today?" Alex asked, looking at me and Steve. "Explore!" I exclaimed. "I really wanna do that fist fight that we agreed on last night." I nodded. "It would be fun to do both," Alex said, clapping and smiling. "Okay, I'm in," I said, raising my hand. Steve shrugged and raised his hand. "Cool, first explore, then fist," Alex said, putting her hand down. I nodded and put my down, so did Steve. Notch, I mean, Uncle, came in with a pot of stew, some bowls, and a plate of cookies. "Let me help you," I said, grabbing the pot of stew and bowls. "Thank you Brine." I nodded and placed the pot and bowls down on the table. "Cookies!" Alex exclaimed, grabbing one. "No Alex, soup first." She sighed and put the cookie back on the plate. I chuckled and poured some soup into a bowl and handed it to Alex. "Thank you," She said, grabbing the bowl. I nodded and poured another for Steve. I handed it to him. He nodded in a thanking way and grabbed it. I did another one for Uncle, then me. "So, what are you young ones going to do today?" Uncle asked. "Explore!" Alex said, in a singing tone. "Why don't you three go to the village near here?" Uncle asked, taking a sip of soup from his spoon. "That place again?" Steve asked, groaning. "The locals are very nice," Alex added, sipping the soup without a spoon. "It sounds fun," I said, doing the same as Alex. She looked over at me and blushed, so did I. "Okay, once you get there, send an endermessage to me. Okay?" Uncle asked. (Yep, I still use that!) "Endermessage?" I asked. "It's a little thing I added so that a chest sends a message to whoever you wish," Uncle explained. "Where does the person have to be though?" I asked. "They could be anywhere." I nodded. "Can I have a cookie now please?" Alex asked, looking at the cookies. "Of course daughter!" Alex clapped her hands and grabbed two cookies. Steve grabbed one and ate it. I grabbed one and sniffed it. "You'll love it!" Alex said, stuffing a cookie in her mouth. I sniffed it again before biting it. It tasted sweet, just like the cake. "Like it?" Steve asked. I nodded and grabbed another one. "Once you three are done, you can get going," Uncle said, taking a cookie and walking up stairs. "Well, I'll wait for you two outside," Steve said, finishing his cookie and walking out the doors. "Well, I'm done," Alex said, standing up. I nodded and followed. She stopped a few feet from the doors and looked at me. "Is something wrong?" I asked. "What, was the nightmare?" She asked, in a worried tone. "N-nothing," I answered. She did an unsatisfied face but nodded. I sighed. "Trust me, I'm-" I was interrupted by her hugging me. "I'm just worried. You kept saying, no leave me alone, and kept tossing and turning. You scared me!" She said into my chest. I hugged her with one arm and petted her hair with the other. "I'm fine, I promise." She sighed and stopped hugging me. She looked up, making her face inches from mine. I blushed and stepped back. "I think we should *cough* go." She nodded and walked out. Nice going Brine!
