Ana doesn't particularly like school, what she likes is getting out of the house. Although Damon has relaxed things a bit, Ana still finds being confined to the house intolerable. It's a relief to her for school to start, especially since Damon did his best to talk her into homeschooling. Ana shudders at the thought.
Just then the main reason she had considered homeschooling walks up to her. "My father is going to arrange a marriage for me to Phoenix. When he does, I'll make sure that you are no more than a nuisance of a slave and sold at the next auction."
Ana turns to the spiteful eleven year old. "You know Jezebel, bragging about your father selling you off at this young of an age, really isn't something you should brag about. Just how much does your father hate you?" Ana has no fear that Damon would take that marriage. He detests how Jezebel has treated her and with her being Hawk he doesn't need the alliance. Damon has talked to her bout how Spider is trying to force the issue.
Jezebel gives her a death glare and huffs as she moves away. Jacob sniggers at her huffy actions. "As if Damon would ever accept someone like her as his wife. You'd have her wrapped up and tossed into the trash before the wedding I do's were even said."
Ana looks over to Jacob curiously, "What do you mean?" They walk forward and look for their lockers. They have been assigned right next to each other.
"That bitch couldn't handle Damon, let alone you. If you didn't have to behave to avoid a war with Spider, you would have already dealt with her so she wouldn't bother you any more. That stunt she and her coterie pulled with your hair? I thought you were going to kill her." Jacob says smiling at the memory.
Ana frowns in annoyance. Damon had to do a lot of talking and negotiating to stop the war after Jacob dealt with the problem. Mostly because Damon told Spider to rein in the bitch or he would have a fight on his hands. Ana had heard him say those words and it wasn't until later that she understood what he meant.
Damon would have started a war on her behalf. A war that he couldn't have won at that time, now he could. Ana smiles that small secretive smile.
Hawk's men were proving their loyalty surprisingly well. It might be due to them being totally terrified of her coming after them, but none of them have even tried to betray her. Trinity being her bodyguard seems to have helped that along quite nicely.
Her smile widens, Trinity. He's proven incredibly loyal. Jezebel hasn't realized that her other crush is Ana's as well. Perhaps the first day of school isn't so bad after all.
"You think that bitch is going to cause trouble for you this year?" Jacob is saying when Ana comes out of her thoughts.
Ana snorts, "Is the sky blue? Jezey doesn't know the meaning of how to behave. She doesn't realize just what kind of relationship I have with Damon. I think if we make it through this year without there being a war between Spider and Phoenix it will be a miracle."
Jacob stops fussing with his books and looks at her, he like everyone else has learned to respect her understanding of a situation. "You think she'll take it that far?"
Ana smirks, "I think she's daddy's little spoiled bitch of a girl. She's going to push her father beyond the point that she should. I don't know Spider though, so he might resist her so he doesn't fall into stupidity like Hawk did. I haven't heard that he's a pervert that likes little girls," Ana shuts her locker and shrugs. "Hawk came after me due to lust. Idiot. Spider, if he comes after me, will be to shut Jezey up. I can't understand how anyone can listen to her whine and complain constantly and not kill her." Ana shudders, if Jezey did get her way, Damon would kill her within a week out of self defense.
Ana walks across the street to the high school with Jacob. She goes to the football field to watch Trinity practice. They have a game on Friday with their biggest rivals and so the practice is pretty intense. Ana doesn't really understand the concept of why people would want to play such a violent sport, but Trinity just shrugged and said, "It's fun."
Trinity saw her when the practice was over and gives her a wave before jogging over to where they were sitting. "Well, boss, how did I look?"
Ana shrugs with a half smile on her face. The males in the house had made sure that she understood the rules of the game and even tutored her with making her watch a few games and explaining it in detail. She caught on fast, but still doesn't get the whole reason behind it.
"You're throw needs work and so do your plays. I could predict each and every one and I still don't get the whole reason for this game." Ana says shrugging, but smiles at Trinity's shocked face.
Jacob, tired of hearing this argument steps in, "Think of it this way Ana, how do you feel when you are torturing someone?"
"It relaxes me," Ana says sitting back down after hugging Trinity.
"That's the reason most of us play," Trinity says smiling at Jacob.
Ana looks incredulously at Trinity, "You call getting your body mashed like hamburger relaxing? You've had how many concussions from this game?"
"Only two. Then there was the blown knee and the surgery I had to have for that. But I've been injured working even worse than that.
"Now, about the knowing beforehand what I was going to do..." but his attention is called by the head cheerleader.
"Go see her. We'll talk at home if you wish about your plays that are predictable." Ana, waves him off and is therefore surprised when instead of leaving he turns to her and kisses her.
"I told her I wasn't interested in her anymore," Trinity says when he's done.
Ana smirks, "That's nice, but using a middle schooler to get your revenge probably isn't the smartest thing you could do."
Trinity shrugs, "Ana, I don't know if you've looked in a mirror lately or not, but it doesn't matter what your age is. You have a fucking hot body that girls my age envy. Add to that your golden hair and blue eyes that you could drown in and I've heard guys here talking about you. I have no doubt that I'll be called upon to keep them away from you."
Jacob is still sitting there with his mouth open staring at Trinity like he's never seen him before. "You better not let Damon see you do that, or you won't live to see the next day's sunrise."
"It's none of his business," Ana says before turning to Trinity. "You better get your things, Damon is just looking for a reason to home school me and being late would do it."
Trinity smiles and jogs off to the shower room to change. "You are playing with fire, Ana."
Ana looks at Jacob puzzled, "What do you mean?"
"Damon already hates Trinity and would love nothing more than a reason to kill him."
Ana looks at Jacob shocked. When she realizes that her mouth is open she shuts it sharply, "Trinity isn't any of his business. Trinity wouldn't betray me and as long as he doesn't then Damon has no reason to say anything."
Jacob just shakes his head at how blind she is being. Ana notices and is getting impatient with him about this. "Spit it out, Jacob."
"Damon considers you his, you know that. He sees Trinity as someone getting in the way of what is his."
"I'm not a fucking pet. I'm not 'his', I'm my own." This whole conversation makes Ana angry and when Trinity comes out a few minutes later she is still fuming. Shortly after that Jackson pulls up with the car and they all pile in.
Trinity doesn't know what happened in the short time that he was gone, but he like everyone else had learned to leave Ana alone when she got like this and keeps his mouth shut. It was a long quiet ride back to the house and the other occupants breathed a sigh of relief when the car stopped in front of the door to let them out.
Ana, in an effort to cool down and not cause problems went to her room and slammed her door shut.
Damon comes to the connecting doors and in an amused voice, "I was going to ask you how the first day of school went, but I guess the slamming door says it all."
He then takes a closer look at Ana, "What happened?"
"I fucking going to kill that bitch if she doesn't back off. I thought Spider was told to put a muzzle on her?"
"Did she actually do anything or was it just words?" Damon says coming into the room and sitting next to Ana on her bed. He pulls her close and holds her while she calms down.
"Just words for now, but if she's this aggressive now, it won't take long for it to escalate into something more. Please let me kill that bitch, Damon?"
"You know you can't do that Ana, what did she say this time?" Damon says soothingly.
"Some shit about making you marry her and then selling me off as a slave."
Damon stiffens in anger. "You know that that would never happen right?"
"Damn right. I'll kill her before the marriage is even finished if you even thought about marrying her." Damon can't help it he chuckles at her words. He has no doubt that she would do it too. He'd even given her, her own gun for her last birthday as well as a matching knife.
"There is that," Damon manages to get out after stifling his laughter once more. "But even more importantly is you are Hawk. Your men wouldn't allow me to do that. You've already gotten their loyalty," Damon is a bit lost on how she managed it so quickly.
"Yeah, because they are terrified of me." Ana says no longer angry, but is now morose.
Damon looks thoughtful and plans his words carefully. "At first I have no doubt that was true. You scared the fuck out of me and I know you far better than they did. But like my men you've won them over."
Ana snorts in derision. "I've not won your men over, Damon. They are just more terrified of me than my men. If they weren't scared that you'd go on a killing rampage if I left they would gladly pack my bags and help me out the door."
"Ana," Damon tries to say but Ana doesn't let him finish.
"I read people pretty good, Damon, they are terrified of me. No matter how well they hide it."
Damon concedes her point at that and just sits holding her to his side.
"Why were you in your room instead of your study?" Ana asks only now realizing the break in habit.
"I've been called out of town. I'll be gone for over a week," Damon's words make it hard for Ana to breath.
"I can't take you with me this time, since you won't be home schooled." Damon says with evident irritation. He doesn't like leaving Ana even overnight because of the nightmares.
"A week?" Ana says focusing on relaxing and breathing. Anything to try to relax the band around her chest constricting her.
"Yes," Damon says and his voice comes from a long way off as the anxiety pulls her under.
