"You've earned your freedom?" Calum says as he escorts her back to the slaves quarters.

"Yes, sir," Gemma says softly not wanting to anger him.

Calum turns her to face him. "How did you do it? Damon doesn't go to the slaves."

"I don't know, sir. He was talking to Miss Ana. I think he became angry at something she said. I heard her say something about freeing someone. Then he asked me about my debt and how long I've been here and everything."

Calum looks at her incredulously, "Ana was still there and he asked you that?"

Gemma nods and looks down. "When Master realized that she was still in the room after what I told him I think he became angry again. He told Ana no and asked her if she had finished her homework. When she said no, he dismissed her. She stomped out of the room and slammed the door behind her.

"Then he told me he'd reduce my debt by twenty-five thousand if I'd service him. I couldn't pass up that opportunity, so I did. Then he offered to give me my freedom and a job and an education," Gemma stops there.

Calum just watches her until he's sure that she's done speaking, "What did you have to do in order to get all that?"

Gemma shrugs, "Nothing more than what I do on a daily basis. The difference being he actually gave me a choice of whether I wanted to or not."

"Damon?!" Calum couldn't be more shocked. Damon wasn't a virgin by anyone's standards, his father made sure of that at an early age. Damon likes women and is one of the biggest players Calum's ever seen, but he's always made it a rule to not touch the slaves.

"Yes, sir," now Gemma flinches frightened by Calum.

"Ana sure can get under his skin. He broke one of his only rules when he was with you." Calum goes over to her and runs his finger down her skin.

"You even earned an unspecified amount for a bonus, he must have found you very good indeed. You're free now, you don't have to accept any unwanted advances. Just tell me no, if you don't want this."

After Calum gets dressed he makes a call and tells them to prepare an apartment for Gemma. He makes another call and lets them know the change in Gemma's status and her reassignment. "Go shower and I'll be back with your new clothes and uniforms. Unless of course you'd like some company?" 

Gemma looks at him startled. "Never had bathroom sex? Never mind then, go shower and I'll leave your clothes here. Dress in the normal clothes, not the uniform. Damon won't like it if you are injured before your change in status is made known to everyone. I know several of the men like you being in their beds." He can understand why now as well. "Just remember you can say no."

Gemma nods as she takes herself to the bathroom she shares with the other slaves. Rather the bathroom she shared with them, she's still getting used to the change in her status.

She comes out of the shower and finds not just the clothes Calum has promised her, but Calum as well.

"Sir?" Gemma asks wondering if she has done something wrong.

"Damon wants me to make sure that your change in status is understood by everyone here. You are to accompany me to dinner so that I can make the announcement." Damon had an emergency call and had to leave and Ana won't be going down to dinner.

"Men, Damon wants me to make an announcement. He has freed the slave Gemma and has made her a servant here. She will be Ana's personal servant and is strictly hands off. Anyone that is found in violation of this will be facing both Ana's and Damon's wrath."

One of the men comments, "Yeah, like Ana's wrath is anything to worry about." The men all smirk at his words.

Calum has never been a fan of Ana's so his defense of her takes them all by surprise. "I'd rather face Damon's wrath than have Ana's on me. She killed her father two years ago without hesitation or emotion. You should be thankful that Damon hasn't had her trained as an assassin."

That is the first any of them have heard of Ana doing that. Silence reigns until one of the men dares speak, "That weak little girl killed her father? I thought the boss said that his father did it?"

"He ordered her to do it at gun point. Forced her to take the knife and slit his throat. She told them she didn't know how and he told her what to do and without any further thought she did. The blood that covered her afterwards didn't even faze her." Calum looks at them all hard eyed, "I have no doubt that should Gemma here be touched without permission that she wouldn't hesitate to do the same with any of us. Damon wouldn't stop her either."

Gemma hadn't heard that about Ana, but she doesn't doubt that Ana has that in her. Although Ana came here fragile and close to broken there was a solid hard core inside her that wouldn't let her be destroyed.

After Calum was satisfied that his point is made he tells Gemma to go to the kitchen and wait for the servants turn to eat. She was by that time more than ready to leave and was quickly out of there.
