He stared into the mirror. A green monster stared back. Repulsed, he flinched, but the monster reached through the mirror. It had slimy green fingers that were cool to the touch. Claws gripped onto his wrist. From then on, the creature never left. Never.

The ever smiling builder was afraid of smiles. They haunted his nightmares, green faces with grotesquely large smiles painted on. It was all because of it. Who it was, Bdubs didn't know. He assumed that it was an evil side of him. Perhaps that's what frightened him most, the idea that something so horrible, so sickening, so frightening could be himself. Bdubs never wanted that- that thing- to be a part of him.
~
Enough was enough. After yet another nightmare, Bdubs had found the words 'I WONT LEAVE' etched on his ceiling.
"Now we'll see about that." He murmured determinedly. "We'll see about that."
A shining pick was standing in the corner, waiting for him. The mirror and the creature inside it glared at him, taunting his cowardice. No more. He swung the pick round, smashing it into a dozen different pieces. Panting, he collapsed on the floor, gripping onto the pick tightly.

The sun warmed Bdubs, but the memory of his green tormentor was the only thing he could think about. He knew that he was free, but the face plagued his mind, washing away whatever brief joy he felt. He sighed and turned around, hearing the sound of Grian's cheerful voice. Instead of Grian's brown eyes and pale skin, he was met with a smiling Bdubs mask. Gasping, he rushed away, running from the memories of that haunting smile. A confused Grian yelled after him, but he ignored him.
Abruptly, the dark haired builder stopped, and Grian caught up to him. Bdubs noticed the dark green crawling up his arm, but it was like he was watching from another's eyes. He turned around and placed his hand on Grian's shoulder, the sweater adorned male looking more confused than ever. He looked almost frightened at the green creeping up to Bdubs's face and neck.
Scar noticed, turning around and looking at them, concerned. Bdubs felt discombulated, unattached from his body, from everything. He looked back at the mayor with empty eyes. Sneaking behind said mayor was a familiar green creature, but Bdubs couldn't bring himself to care. He was broken. He was gone.
The creature rushed forward and knocked Scar over, prompting Grian to rush forward, wings spread. Bdubs wasn't having any of that, using chains to constrain him. His eyes were bright green and his mouth was turned down in a perpetual frown. The determined builder stood up again, with the creature glaring at him.
Suddenly, three hermits appeared to help: Impulse, Xisuma, and Doc. Impulse and Doc lunged forward with their swords raised, but were quickly overcome by the green creature. However, it did the trick. Grian managed to get free of his chains and he tackled Bdubs to the ground, constraining him so he wouldn't be able to harm any of them. The creature snarled and lashed out. It attempted to stab Xisuma, but Scar managed to push him out of the way at the last second.
The pair stared, bewildered as the creature disappeared into thin air. It didn't matter, though, it was finally gone.
Or so they thought .
