New friend(s) (Magic College AU)
Heyy guys... heh.
So it's been a while! Ngl I kinda lost a ton of motivation, not only for writing but for watching and getting involved in hermitcraft. I really wanna get back into it, but it's hard. I'm trying though! I had inspiration for more ideas with this (maybe some crossovers??) which gave me just enough inspiration to finish this little part up and start on the next ones. If I can get enough parts to this AU done, I might actually turn it into a book, which is really exciting! I've always wanted to make an actual hermitcraft book that isn't just a one parter. But I'm rambling, bottom line is there's more of this AU to come and I'm really sorry for my massive hiatus. And thank you so so much for over 17k reads! It amazes me that so many are still reading even after this long break. Thank you all, and enjoy this kinda short part two!
After that grand introduction, Xisuma guided xB out of the large room and into a hallway.
"You'll adjust, don't worry," he said suddenly, as if he could read his racing thoughts. "And anyway, I'm taking you to someone who can hopefully help you feel like you belong."
He took him into a smaller room, probably a dorm, where a girl with dark brown hair and a pink sweater was sat at a desk, furiously writing something down on a paper. Xisuma cleared his throat and she looked up at the two, a bit surprised that they were there.
"Stress, this is the person I was telling you about."
The girl, Stress, shifted her gaze to a rather nervous xB. She had eyes that were as brown and warm and comforting as hot chocolate.
"Oh, you're xB then? Take a seat, I insist!" She gestured to a comfy looking chair opposite of her.
"I'll leave you to it then, it's best I'm not here for this." Xisuma walked out the door and then it was just xB and Stress. He sat down rather nervously.
"Right then, so I'm Stress! And as for why Xisuma wanted you to see me, it's my power." She wiggled her fingers dramatically and he couldn't help but smile.
"Am I here for a test? Are you going to test me on my magic or something?" If there is going to be a test, xB was sure to fail, seeing as he he'd only learned that magic was real that morning.
"Heavens no," she giggled, a sound like tinkling bells. "It's just that I'm great with calming people and making friends! You see, my powers allow me to see the relationships that people have, so I'm a bit of an expert on emotions and stuff."
"How does that work?" He leaned forward slightly, curiosity peaked.
"Everyone I see has these, say, glowing strings attached to them. The color of the string between two people reveals their relationship. People who don't know each other share white strings. Those who are friends have light pink strings. Lovers have deep pink strings. Enemies are shades of gray."
"If friends and lovers are so close in color, isn't it hard to tell between them?"
She sighed. "Of course. It can be infuriating, how unclear it is, but I guess the power is useful if we are up against enemies. I can tell who is most likely to give up information, who is the least evil, who is close to who- stuff like that. But years with this power has given me this sort of emotional awareness, plus I can usually interpret the colors pretty accurately. For instance, you and Xisuma share a very light pink string meaning you aren't super close but you're still friends."
xB grinned widely at that fact. "That's got to be the coolest power ever."
"Thanks," she smiled back.
"What's the color of our string, Stress?" He asked her, hoping wasn't too intrusive of a question.
"That's the other thing. I can't see any of my relationships, which is also really annoying."
He imagined having to see the state of everyone's relationships everyday without being able to get a a glimpse of his own. Suddenly, Stress' power doesn't seem so fun.
"It's fine though, because I can see who everyone has a crush on," she grinned mischievously. "I bet you'll be having a roommate here, yeah?"
xB thought back to what Wels had said about being having a roommate. "Yeah, I think it'll be Wels."
"Ooh!" Her eyes flashed. "Well if he is your roommate then you should know that I think he's got a crush on Jevin."
'The guy with the blue hair?' xB thought about this, then nodded. "Alright, thank you."
"Course, feel free to wreck havoc with that info," she smiled. "Anyways, that was all. Just wanted you to feel a little more welcome around here! And I'll always be free to talk if you need it. Or need some tea about possible relationships. But for your first day, I would suggest having a look around the place, might be fun to have a bit of a tour."
"Thank you Stress, I'll see you around then?"
"Yeah, see you!"
And that was that. xB slipped out of the room with a big smile and a warm fuzzy feeling engulfing him. He shifted his eyes down as his mind filled with thoughts. 'Well if everyone's that nice, it won't be bad here at all', he reasoned. Then he, quite literally, ran right into someone.
