Fandom: Hermitcraft
Romantic: yes :D
Day seven prompt: Power outage on a cold winter day
Featuring: Ren and Doc!
Almost caught up! :D I'm really excited about this one cause I think it'll turn out adorable.
"Bye Doccy!" The happy wolf hybrid gave his boyfriend a hug before turning to the nether portal.
"Bye Ren! Thanks for watching movies with me." Doc wave as Ren began to leave. Suddenly, he was hit by a bout of pure dread and his gut urged for Ren to stay. He was about to dematerialize when Doc grabbed his wrist and pulled him back into his house.
"...Doc?"
"Sorry, I just have a really bad feeli-" The lights flickered and so did the nether portal in front of them. Doc slowly backed away while still holding Ren's wrist.
"That can't be good." The lights went out and the nether portal became unlit. It didn't light up despite Doc hitting it with a flint and steel.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Message after message flooded their communicators, all about the power outage.
JoeHills: Have all the lights gone out for y'all too?
ZombieCleo: Yeah, this is weird... X?
XisumaVoid: It appears that the power has gone out and nether portals aren't working. I'll start investigating what caused this, but I suspect it's the blizzard. Everyone should stay inside and try to keep as warm as possible. Avoid traveling unless it's right next door.
ImpulseSV: Does that mean there are people stuck in the nether? Tango and Zedaph said they're gonna be doing experiments in the nether!!
Tango: Don't worry, we made it out just in time. We're at Toon Towers now.
GoodTimesWithScar: So is anyone stuck in the nether?
iJevin: I am.
WelsKnight: WHAT?!
iJevin: It's okay, I'd probably be in more trouble if I were in the overworld without heating.
XisumaVoid: That reminds me, all cold blooded hermits should seek assistance immediately.
Doc slid his communicator shut with a sigh and glanced at Ren. "Guess you're staying the night, huh?"
Ren nodded, "It's a good thing I'm here, you are cold blooded after all. How'd you know that was going to happen?"
"Gut feeling. My gut is never wrong." This earned a chuckle from Ren.
"Your gut also told you that I wasn't into guys. I was decked out in full rainbow for pride month!"
"Okay, my gut is wrong sometimes."
...
While the beginning of being stuck inside was uneventful, it became colder and colder as time went on. Soon, both hermits were shivering as their breath puffed up in clouds.
"T-there sh-should be swe-eaters of m-mine in th-the cl-closet," The creeper cyborg managed to choke out, his teeth chattering and not letting him speak properly. Ren got up and slipped on one of Doc's sweaters over his thin shirt, all of which were comically large on him. He tossed a thick sweater to Doc and gathered as many blankets as he could find.
Blanket after blanket was piled onto Doc but it didn't seem to help at all. He still shivered despite being buried under a dozen blankets.
"Th-that's no-ot goin-ng to w-work. Bl-lankets wor-rk by tr-rapping h-heat in w-with the or-rganism. It-t wo-ont b-be usef-ful if-f ther-res no h-heat to-o tr-rap."
" H-how doe-es it wo-ork with m-me then?!"
"Y-you're wa-arm bl-looded an-nd ca-n gen-nerate he-eat on y-your own. I'm c-cold blo-ooded an-nd need a heat sour-rce."
Ren's brows furrowed as he heard Doc say this. "W-what will you u-use as a heat s-source?"
" G-gee Ren, i-if o-only I h-had a war-rm blood-ed boyf-friend who was-s will-ling to c-cuddle with m-me to k-keep me-e wa-arm." Doc deadpanned, staring at Ren
"Oh! M-me!" He immediately climbed under the blankets and snuggled up to Doc, wrapping his arms around the ice cold hybrid. Within about half an hour it was finally warm under the blankets and the creeper sighed, pressing his cheek to Ren's.
"That's much better."
Ren pressed his body even closer to Doc's in an effort to try to get him warmer. His fluffy dog ears twitched as he smiled at Doc's clinginess. His smile grew even wider when he heard soft, even breaths coming from his lover and he shifted slightly to kiss his forehead.
"Sweet dreams Doccy."
