Grian knew that being a high school teacher would be tough. Especially a high school teacher at Hermit High. Where the district was huge and hundreds of students went to it. And of course, being a school that large it had it's own alarms which all teachers were required to know in split second reactions.
The fire alarm had very very rapid, and loud sounding beeps.
The tornado alarm had a trailed out sound of an ambulance siren mixed with a moter engine at a pretty high pitch.
But this final alarm was different. In fact it wasn't a blaring alarm like the others. It was a huge light surge. Meaning all lights in the building, on or off automatically turned on and were blasted with huge amounts of electricity to the point where you could hear the electricity, causing the people in the rooms to become blinded momentarily, then the school would go dark. Sure it wasn't a loud annoying alarm but that was for safety reasons too. It was to silently alert everyone in the building that there were armed participants in the building.
So when the lights blared brightly and then all the power was cut off, Grian immediately knew something was up. His students all had dropped what they were doing and started to become panicked.
"Hey hey hey!" He commanded out, trying to keep the room calm. "Start moving the tables against the door to block it." He ordered.
Students started doing as their teacher said.
From the other sides of each wall, Grian could hear Mumbo and Iskall commanding their students to do similar things.
Grian scanned his room for anything that he could use to break his classroom window with. "Fire extinguisher!"
Grian quickly grabbed the red container from the side of his desk and marched over to the window.
He could hear footsteps just outside his door. His room fell deathly silent.
The armed intruders were trying to check classrooms.
Grian reworked his plan then went to the side of his desk closest to the door. He gestured for his students to duck down behind the remaining desks.
A gun shot.
Some of Grian's students let out yelps of startlement while some bit back screams that would give them away. Grian felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end as his doorknob started to turn.
Grian bit his lip, sinking back into the shadows as someone peered inside the best they could.
The person struggled against the desks, to shove it open and managed to make a gap just large enough to fit his arm through the door, as well as poking a pistol through.
Another gun shot. This time in Grian's room.
Grian felt himself jerk slightly but he remained silent. His students weren't so good at that.
A girl let out a muffled scream from terror.
The armed man then shouted something to some other people. "We've got some in here!"
Grian immediately used this chance to go ahead and swing the fire extinguisher down on the intruders arm.
The armed man yelled out, pulling his arm back and dropping the gun.
Grian reached and snatched the gun, dropping the fire extinguisher and checking how much ammo was left inside the weapon. "Missing only one. Other then that, full clip."
More screamed suddenly filled the air. Followed by some more gun fire.
Grian felt his mind go slightly fuzzy at the noise. Yelling filled the air as classroom doors started to be broken down.
More gun fire. More screams from students.
Grian couldn't tell if the screams were from someone getting shot or just the noise in general.
Quietly, Grian snuck over to his connected office with Iskall and gazed in through the one way glass. It was near impossible to see, but he could see Iskall's door wide open. "Iskall must have shot first. He must have ordered his students to run while he covered them."
Grian then turned and crept back into his own classroom, then went over to the other side of his own classroom and to the other connected office he shared with Mumbo.
Peering inside from the one way glass, Grian could see a broken window and Mumbo's students all climbing out.
MJ himself was fighting against a melee armed intruder, holding them back while his students escaped through the window.
Grian bit his lip, watching as the intruder swung at the taller man.
Mumbo yelped, his forearms taking the brunt force of each bat strike. His last student jumped out of the window as soon as Mumbo went down.
Grian then stepped into the classroom himself and aimed at the armed attacker. "Hey!" He yelled.
The attacker stopped his swing down at Mumbo to finish him off and turned to Grian instead.
Before the attacker could even react, Grian went and shot him square in the chest, causing the attacker to stumble and fall down to the floor.
The engineering teacher jolted, gasping heavily for air. He looked up at the shorter teacher. "Grian!"
Grian quickly turned back to his own students. "Hey hey hey! Come here and go through this window! You know where the buses are located, go!"
Quickly, Grian's students went to the window to climb out; or jump out.
Grian himself quickly went over to Mumbo's side, helping him up. "Mumbo! You alright?" He asked, looking over the black haired male.
Mumbo suppressed a wince, standing back up with the shorter man's help. "I-I'll live." He had forming bruises on his face and a nasty looking cut at his lip, and Grian suspected that there would be more bruises on the man's arms. "Let's just focus on getting everyone to the buses."
Grian nodded in agreement. "I can second that. Come on!" He gently took hold of the other's hand and headed to the window. He waited as the last student jumped, then hopped out of the window himself.
Mumbo also jumped from the window and into the grass. He then held out his hand and a trident returned to him.
Grian looked slightly confused. "I'm not gonna ask." He then retook hold of the taller teachers hand and took off towards the buses with Mumbo in tow.
When the two teachers got there, everyone was loading buses quickly.
Stress was shouting out orders. "3 to a seat! It doesn't matter if you don't like the person next to you deal with it! We gotta get all of you out of here! Go go go, hustle hustle!"

Grian now sat at a huge circle table, built for all of the hermit staff. All 27 of them. Everyone was seated by their classroom neighbor, so he was between Iskall and Mumbo.
Each teacher looked spooked, some even had noticable patched and bandaged wounds from getting into a fight with the people who had broke in.
Xisuma looked exhausted, as if he had been up filling out paper work and making phone calls for days. The principal then spoke up after a brief moment of silence. "32 students with injuries, 12 of them in critical condition. Those 12 are still in the hospital trying to be stabilized, but as of right now no casualties."
Grian watched the room sink. Some teachers, like Wels, Ren and Zedaph hang their heads down and shut their eyes. Grian saw Mumbo physically put his hand over his head and put his head on the table, as Iskall put his hands over his face.
Grian merely remained silent with his eyes fixed to the floor.
Xisuma, noticing the reaction spoke once again. "I know, that's probably not what you all wanted to hear. Its not what I wanted to say either. But I have to say... we cannot let this shake us."
"Too late for that statement." Doc snapped. There was anger in his tone, but there was more hurt than anything.
Xisuma watched the room, continuing. "We are representing everything every other school wishes they could. A good strong base line of protection against threats like the one we just encountered."
TFC spoke up next. "Do we even know who attacked us? They all acted like ordinary street thugs trying to rob a school for money."
"They were hired armes. Whoever hired them wanted to see how we would react to an attack like this." False explained.
Scar flinched, his eyes widened slightly. "Wait we're being targeted now?"
Xisuma put his hands down on the table. "The attack made against us was to see our reaction. If react correctly they won't come back."
Cub had his arms crossed over his chest. "Which reaction is correct then?"
iJevin frowned. "We can't assume that. If we react by putting up more defenses they might return to see what our defenses can do! Then the cycle begins all over again!"
Xisuma shook his head. "No! Here's what we do. We acknowledge that the event happened, theres no way around it, then we'll add a few different security measures to try and prevent things before they happen. After those we just have to keep our heads up."
Tango raised his hand up. "I suggest that we as teachers take a gun class and a self defense class. So at least we know how to defend ourselves and our students if it comes down to it."
Impulse nodded. "Yeah, I second that suggestion."
Iskall spoke up. "Some of us already know how to use a gun properly. We own guns for goodness sake."
"Yeah, but it never hurts to refresh on a class like that." Biffa countered.
Stress let out a concerned sound, which kind of sounded like a whine. "I'm not entirely comfortable with guns."
Scar meekly raised his hand. "M-Me too... I don't like holding a gun..."
Ren and Mumbo both raised their hands as well silently in agreement.
Vintage merely sighed sharply. "We know that some people don't like to handle guns, but we have to learn. Especially if these attackers might come back. We gotta learn how to defend ourselves!"
Mumbo looked at Vintage. "I already know self defence."
Grian snapped his head to the taller man. "Mumbo, you about got bludgeoned to death by that attacker with a baseball bat had I not stepped in."
Iskall looked like he was about to jump out of his seat. "What?!" He looked at the two.
The room erupted into bickering and arguing. Friends arguing against friends. Partners arguing against partner.
Xisuma had a piece of paper in front of him; along with a pen. "Basic melee training, gun handling and self defence." He mentally told himself before clearing his throat. "Ok everyone that's ENOUGH!" he shouted.
All the teachers in the room fell silent and eyes turned toward the Principle.
Xisuma took a deep breath and exhaled before speaking calmly again. "I have a list of what we all are going to do after school for the rest of the year. So listen up."
