Regret (Cub x Scar)
Warning: Perma-Death

Cub carefully walked through the graveyard, tightly clutching the bouquet of flowers as he saw it. Scar's grave. He slightly sped up and he set the flowers next to stone nameplate.
Biting his lip, he looked away. A tear made its way down his face. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry," he whispered.
"It's been a year, baby. A year since-" his breath hitched, too scared to say that word. "I miss you, Scar. It's been so hard living without you. Living with the guilt, the regret of not doing more.
"We were both so happy that day. Do you remember?" he smiled softly as he wiped away a tear. "It was our anniversary." He knelt down in front of the grave.
His smile quickly dissipated as he kept talking. "I never thought that a day full of so much joy would turn into a day that brought so much grief." His eyes wandered around, trying not to focus on the grave.
"I wanted to do something, but I-I was so scared. I could've save you," Cub cried. "It's all my fault. Everybody tried to convince me that I did my best, but I could've done more.
"I reccomended to fly around the server. But I got distracted and I didn't-t realize that y-you-" Cub took in a deep breath. Saying all of this was hard, "I didn't realize that you had fallen in the ocean. I should've paid more attention since I know you couldn't swim.
"I'm so stupid, Scar. I-I could've gone and saved you, b-but I was so scared of the water, I still am." He remembered the one close call he had to drowning. After it, he tried to avoid going into water for so long. "I kept my stupid fear get in the way of me saving you. And by the time that I attempted," he looked down, his voice now hushed down into a small, sad whisper, "it was too late."
Cub's sobs grew as he bent forward and hit the ground with his fists. "It's just not fair! Why was it you? Why you when it could've been me?" he asked out loud. "It's all my fault. Y-You died because of m-me."
Cub stayed with his hands pressed firmly against the ground and supporting his weight for a while, thinking. He couldn't really tell how long he stayed there.
He looked up and saw that the sun was setting in the distance. Cub sighed as he picked himself up. "I'll see you later, okay?" He looked at the nameplate. "I love you."

Yeah, I don't know why I had this idea. It just popped into my head.
