| First Short Story..also finding that video was a lot harder than it should've been |

[ TW: Mention of death and blood :D this is horror. Be warned ]

Cold

Sun glaring down apon Sumas face waking him up, his head throb as if he been hit. Sitting up Suma looked around at his surroundings, a forest, a snowy forest.
When did he get here?
Pushing himself to his feet and started his travel through the forest, hopefully he'll be able to find one of the other hermits.
Walking for what seemed like ages Suma had stumbled apon a worn down house, the structure seemingly to barely hold itself together. Carefully stepping inside he'd search for something to drink, water maybe?

He's been traveling for ages.
Spotting a water bottle across the room. Suma picked up a unopened water bottle, finally something.
Twisting the cap open he'd pull his mask down taking a swig from the bottle "so refreshing" Suma sighed, finally relieved, no longer having to deal with a dry throat that made it painful to breathe.

*CRASH*

Suma gasped dropped the still opened bottle and turning around only to be face to face with a ungodly looking creature, super tall and lengthy.
Not something he'd ever seen before.
Suma backed away as the creature moved towards him, it leeped forward and Suma quickly jumped out of its way as it crashs into the wall behind him.
Without a second thought Suma began to run, not a clue to where but somewhere far from that THING.

Running through the snow and the endless amount of trees that surrounded him, seeing his own breath as he ran. It was so unfathomably cold, nothing could describe how cold it was.
While running Suma was suddenly pulled behind a tree, a hand very quickly cover his mouth before he could even get a word out. Panicked and shocked he looked at the person only to see a familiar face, the face looked like his just slight different.

EX...it was EX!
Wait..EX just saved him?! ..what?..

A shhhh was whispered from EX as he looked back at a creature trolling by. Suma pulled EX hand down but didn't utter a word, he wasn't sure if it was safe to do so yet.

Seemingly like forever EX had stepped back "okay what the HELL was that?!" EX looked at Suma so confused, where even are they? "Language! And I don't know!" Suma still haven't been able to figure out where they were or even how they got there. "now's not the time for that Suma" EX looked around their surroundings, nothing's around them. Whatever Suma was running from had lost him "I really need to find the other hermits if they're even here" Suma walked off "I'm not letting you travel alone!" EX ran to catch up with Suma.

Suma and EX found themselves at the end of the tree line, it wasn't a endless forest after all.
Standing on a hill they took in the view, what sat in front of them was once hermitcraft that they knew and loved. Now..now it's just rubble and abandoned buildings. Some seemed like they caught fire, some looked worse for ware and had been long forgotten for years.

"Come on" EX spoke up traveling down the hill carefully to not fall, Suma not being far behind him. They stepped into the town that hermits used to live in before...before whatever happened.
Why can't he remember any of this?
..What happened..

Walking down the gravel road and stepping over anything that layed in the path "what happened here?" EX looked around stunned and very confused, this wasn't his doing this time around.
They traveled to Sumas base, it was a mess like something came through tearing the place up. Going through everything the two picked up a sword in case they run across those creatures again.
Night fall arrived sooner than they thought and they settled down in Sumas base for the night.
It was quiet, every once in awhile one of those creatures would walking by crackling and growling. Suma is on watch for the night, EX sleeping on the couch.
Suma sitting in the window leaning up against the glass watching the road, he'd rest his arms on his knees and holding his sword.

The sun began to rise shining above the destroyed buildings, light beamed down apon the destroyed server. Suma off on his own in his base searching through chest, literally anything he could find. ANYTHING to remember whatever happened here. Frustrated and chucking thing's around Suma let out a frustrated groan hitting his back against a wall. Covering his face with his hands he'd slide down the wall until he was sitting.
Footsteps walking into the room Suma now sat in "Suma?" tired voice spoke up suddenly, Suma's head shot up and he looked at his brother "yeah?" Suma pushed himself to his feet "nothing..just heard noises in here" EX walked further into the room "sorry" Suma looked around at the messed up room, half of it being his fault. "We should get moving" EX stretched ready to start moving again "yeah alright" Suma followed EX out the room. Collecting whatever they could find they began their journey again.

Walking into one of the shops EX spotted on of the creatures sitting in one of the corner. Throwing his arm up to stop Suma, EX looked at Suma putting his finger up making a shushing gesture. Suma nodding his head the two carefully and quietly walked into the building. Both holding their swords tightly as they slowly approach the creature, EX raising his sword he swung it down straight into the back of it. It letting out a screech while standing up, EX stumbled back covering his ears as they felt like they were going to implode. Suma's mask helped with muffling the screech though it was still loud making him flinch.

Suma slowly opened his eyes lowering his hands from his ears, his eyes widen seeing the creature about to slash a unaware EX. Suma ran towards EX using his sword to block the attack while also pushing EX out of the way, Suma fought the creature while EX gathered his composer.

Killing the creature Suma lowered his arms breathing heavily, it having claws as arms made it difficult to fight. EX's head now had a migraine but had immediately went to check on Suma "you good?!" EX had a worried expression across his face "I'm good, I'm good" Suma repeated twice putting his hand up waving EX away while still catching his breath.
Standing up straight Suma looked at EX "how about you though? That screech was really loud and you were right there" EX using his hands to make sure he wasn't bleeding, lucky he wasn't. "I'm alright, just a migraine now though. But that'll pass" EX shrugged it off "why'd we walk in here again?" EX questioned not remembering why they choose this building "this is a food shop, steaks, pork, chicken, whatever we can find" Suma spoke walking up to one of the chest opening it.
Empty.
Checking all the chest and salvaging whatever they could find which wasn't a lot.

The two walked all of the hermit town within two weeks, others were nowhere to be found. The two fought a lot of the creatures to survive, walking into a random building within the forest they had been traveling in "..wait.." EX grabbed Suma's arm out of nowhere causing Suma to look back confused " did one of those creatures bite you?!" EX looked at Suma who had a confused expression "what?" Suma looked at his arm "when did this happen and why didn't I feel it?!" Panicked and freaked out that he hadn't noticed nor felt getting bit. So who knows how long ago it was "by the way it looks it doesn't seem like it was that long ago, it's also bleeding a little bit so we'll have to fix that" EX practically dragged Suma behind him into the abandoned building. Pulling out the first-aid he'd pull out the bandages "I'm gonna have to remove your gloves" - "yeah, go for it" EX pulled off Suma's gloves, opening the first-aid he'd pull out cloth as blood trailed down Suma's arm. Cleaning the wound and bandaging it up the two decide to camp out in the building for the night. It was EXs turn to night watch.

The night felt slow, Suma couldn't sleep as he laid on the couch and blanket draped over him. Feeling a little unwell but he'd keep quiet as it wasn't bad and he didn't want to worry EX more than he already had.
By morning Suma hadn't slept at all, he'd get up leaving the blanket on the couch. He'd grab his glove putting it back on as he was already wearing the other one.
The two decide it was best to keep moving as they were running low and the building they stayed in didn't have anything.

Three days went by within a blink of an eye. That morning Suma felt drowsy, he made his way to the nearest restroom. Closing the door behind him, he'd lean against the sink looking into the mirror, eyebags underneath his eyes.
A strong urge to cough hit, pulling his mask down has he began to cough harshly into the sink. Suma looked up seeing a trail of blood dripping down from his mouth and off his chin. The dripping sound was all he could hear as his world began to spin. Feeling light his body fell backwards into the wall behind him, a loud thud echo the building. It must be the bite..

Hearing a faint footsteps running to the restroom and the door getting swung open. Suma could only assume it was EX that was shaking him and as the muffled shouting belonged too.

With whatever energy he had he muttered out

"Don't let them bite you"

Suma's world went black, no sound, no feeling, no nothing.

| 1674 words, this took me WAY too long to find this. I had reread this so many times I've lost count. The story changed like three times because I kept hating it. No more changing it though, I want to get this done with already. |
