Mumbo is just looking around the shopping district when he gets kidnapped.

He wakes up strapped to a table, and sees Evil X, with a bunch of metal body parts, and such.

EX looks over, grins, and injects Mumbo with something, then proceeds to implant a chip into the back of his head.

He also makes Mumbo half robot. (Not Robo-Mumbo).

The chip makes him loyal to EX, and emotionless. He's sent to capture the rest of the Hermits, which he does. There, EX and him torture them. Well, mainly EX.

Every now and then, one died, either of natural causes or because EX commanded Mumbo to.

It goes until there's around 7 left, and Mumbo begins to break free of his curse. Grian is still alive, and Iskall, so they both snap him out of it for a short amount of time. Long enough so he can release the surviving Hermits, then his programming backs up again.

EX sees this, and starts attacking Mumbo. Mumbo fights against his programming and EX at the same time, before realising he can't win.

He makes the surviving Hermits leave him, as he finds a way to overload the base, blowing it up.

The remaining Hermits mourn, for not only their fallen friends, but Mumbo and EX as well.
