Lost at Sea
ImpulseSV's POV:
This is why you have to go on a quest prepared. Or you get lost in the middle of the ocean.
And we were trying to find someone who was somewhere in the Aegean Sea, but somehow, we got so lost we didn't know if we were even in the correct ocean anymore, how did this happen, I have no idea.
I and Mumbo were just trying to choose a room to stay in, and the ship like a billion rooms, we were kind of picky on which one we'll stay in.
Most of the ship's bedrooms are around the same, with the VIP rooms being bigger and making everything walk-in, walk-in closets, walk-in bathrooms, walk-in bathtubs, aka the shower.
So, we just chose the one nearest to the engine room that has two beds, the bedroom was quite simple, two fluffy white beds with an ocean blue coverlet sit in two corners of the room, a bedside table lay near the beds, a window with a glass door leading outside to the balcony, a greenish-blue armchair stood across the room, near it was the bathroom while one of those crazy Japan toilets.
"Woah, this is bonkers!" Mumbo sat on his bed, bouncing it up and down.
"Too bad we don't have the space we need to make our contraptions." I sat down on my bed, glaring at the small amount of floor space we had, "Back at our cabin we had lots of space to work with, but now I guess we make small devices." I signed, missing the home we had.
"That is a tad pant, but oh well." Mumbo said then suddenly sat up, "We should go to the engine room sometime together! You'll be gobsmacked at how cool it is inside."
I laughed a bit, "Ok, ok, I believe you, we'll go together, maybe we could bring the other hermits with us as a learning trip."
Mumbo nodded, "But we have to keep an eye on Grian, he seems to break every machine around him."
I looked out the window, the sun was setting. And we both got really for bed, and to my present surprise, no dreams again. Weird.
I woke up because of Xisuma's existential crisis, I peeked outside of the door, Xisuma was just in the corner questioning life, but the bigger surprise was that he had his helmet off.
Xisuma doesn't take off his helmet much, the hermit just agreed to not question him about it because it seemed quite personal and emotional to him.
He had his face buried in his arms, from what I heard from his Ex, Xisuma supposedly had a youthful face and a scar that goes down his left eye.
He silently muttered about how bad this situation is when Jevin ran into him in a panic.
Xisuma looked startled and quickly put on his helmet, "What's wrong?" He said while adjusting his helmet.
"I don't know where we are, I tried to move the ship, but something went wrong, also the fact I didn't have a map." Jevin sounded unnerved and jumpy.
Xisuma's face morphed into concern, "I'll go and inform everyone what's happened, you try and look for a place to dock. We'll get directions later."
Jevin nodded, I went back into my room, where Mumbo is still asleep, so I tried to shake him awake.
"Geez, you seemed like a Hypnos child." I quietly joked, then Xisuma slammed the door opened, and simply said, "Meet us outside, we're lost."
Mumbo finally stirred to life a bit, he half-opened his eyes, "Mmmehmeh?" He muttered, rubbing his eyes a bit.
"You're finally awake, you were asleep for nearly a year!" I lightly teased.
"Oh really? I don't believe you." He jumped off of the bed and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth, I joined him and filled him in on the details of Xisuma's existential crisis.
"Oh geezer, you just watched him going into shambles. And you saw him without his helmet?" he asked, after a little bit he continued, "Blimey! We don't see that side of Xisuma very often. Did you see his face?"
I shook my head, so far, the only person that knows Xisuma's face is Ex.
"Let's go, Jevin got something to say," I said heading out the door.
Everyone was in the main hall waiting for Jevin, Zed waved at me, "You got Xisuma's panic message?"
I said, "I mean I'm here so yes."
False then looked at Jevin grudgingly, "What's going on?"
Jevin nervously twirled his fingers, "Well... um."
Cub hit him lightly, "Go on!"
Jevin took a large breath, "Well, you see, the engines seemed to have something in it, so it didn't run correctly. Then I tried to see where we are then I realize that I don't have a map and that I had no idea where we are and we don't even have a compass, I can't even tell which direction is which and I am so sorry!"
Xb response, "In short, we're lost."
Jevin laughed nervously, "We are not lost, we just... don't know where we are!"
False snickered, "If lost had a meaning that's the meaning."
Jevin smiled, a bead of sweat ran down his forehead, "Are you mad?"
Xisuma shook his head, "Why would we be mad?"
Ex shrugged, "Honestly, I guessed this would happen."
Jevin flustered "Oh."
He grinned a bit, "Well, I'll pray that we can go to the area we need to go to."
Stress looked around the windows, "Hey! I think I see an island up head!"
Joe spoke up, "I'll go and ask for directions!"
Mumbo then said, "You said the engine is stuck right? I'll stay and fix it."
I glanced at Mumbo and asked, "Do you mind if I help?"
Mumbo smiled, "Actually if that island has a machinal store, buy the basics."
Ex nodded, "I'll stay with Mumbo."
I took my bag and looked at the group, "Let's go then."
The island was not really big, the grass was a shade of blueish green, the trees on it were dark and had no leaves, a thin layer of blueish mist covered the ground, a small hill formatted in the middle surrounded a few tall rocks. A temple of pure marble marked the top of the hill, lily of the valleys grew bunches around the temple, a young woman sat in the middle, watering all the flowers, somewhere off in the distance, a herd of pigs and guinea pig played around.
"Woah, the water around us seemed to be glowing a bit!" Zed said poking at a wave, I looked carefully.
"Oh no, it's just the way the sun shines on the water making the water look like it's glowing." A young woman's voice joined, her tone soft and gentle as if comforting a scared animal.
"Oh! Hello there! I didn't see you! What is your name?" Zed turned around and reach out his hand as if he were excited to make a new friend, well, he seems to be excited no matter the situation.
The girl flinched a bit, and gradually shook his hand, "I'm... Kirke. Nice to meet you."
Joe asked, "Where are we? Not that we want to leave right now but we got a bit lost."
Kirke's mouth curled upwards a little, "Oh? Lost travelers? Where were you going?"
"We are trying to find Nereus," Cub said.
"Oh? Demigods? Though I shouldn't be surprised, you got a zombie with you." Her tone was calm and clear.
Cleo rattled up a bit, "Gods! I am not a zombie for the last time!"
"Are you a demigod too?" Beef asked.
She remanded silent for a bit, "No, just someone who has clear sight."
Xb asked, "What's clear-sight?"
"I can sense you have magic in you, how do you not know what it is?" She asked.
"He just learned about the gods not so long ago," Xisuma said.
"Ah, pardon me, you look as if you are tired, would you like to rest?" She politely offered.
"Well, we're not tired..." Cub looked at Scar waiting for his judgment.
"But it's kind of rude to decline so quickly." Scar said.
"Alright, we'll stay for a while!" Xisuma said.
"Excellent! I'll prepare some pork!" Kirke clapped her hand together; she ran off to the temple.
We awkwardly followed her, Cub went away to study the trees or something.
"Here, here sit down!" She smiled; Tango leaned near me.
"I don't like her; she gives me a creepy vibe." He said, shivering a bit.
"You say that to everyone you meet, come on! Let's just go." I said, laughing a bit at Tango's anti-social behavior.
The temple wasn't a small one, four pillars supported the arched roof and the floor was clean.
"Pardon, if you don't mind, please take off your shoes. It's hard to clean the footprint of a shoe." Kirke pointed at the floor and her own bare feet.
The marble floor was cold to the touch, we all kneaded down near the table.
"Thank you for your hospitality." Xisuma bowed a bit because he is a true British gentleman.
"No, no, it gets a bit lonely here sometimes." She raises her teacup.
"Don't you have other people or friends that visit you?" I asked.
"No, but let's not dwell on the fact I have no friends." She grinned.
She studied False intensely, "Hey, I have a small flower garden that I'm proud of, would you like to go there?"
Stress peaked up, "Yeah! Can Keralis come too?"
Kirke thought about it, "No, the flowers are quite... potent in pollen."
"I don't mind it." Keralis said, "And Shishwammy has a helmet too."
"Shish...whammy?" Kirke confusedly asked.
"Shishwammy or Shishbangbang," Keralis whispered in a soft tone.
In the background, Xisuma dug himself a grave out of embarrassment.
"Well, let's just go girls!" Kirke said, waving her arms in the direction of east.
Stress bounced to the east with a carefree vibe.
False and Cleo just shrugged and walked along, Stress started blabbering about flowers and flower type all of a sudden, Cleo rolled her eyes, and False let out an annoyed growl.
Kirke stayed back, "Now for you." Her voice changed, it was no longer bubbly and carefree.
An aura of strong magic radiated from her body, Cleo and the others were too far to feel it.
Iskall pulled out his sword, he looked scared and she noticed that.
"Put. Your. Sword. Down." She stared.
"Charmspeak? Wait Iskall!" Grian started saying but it was too late.
Iskall's sword crashed onto the ground, a loud thud was heard; Iskall's eyes were now stormy.
"Iskall...?" Grian started his sentence again with more confidence in his voice, he was preparing to use charmspeak too.
But the effort was cut short, a bunch of vines surged out of the ground, throwing Grian into the pillars and knocking him out.
We readied our weapons, Kirke smiled maliciously, she raise her hand, we dug into a defensive position, fully expecting an attack, but she moved her hand at Grian.
The vines grow around him, if he was still awake, he wouldn't be able to move, then a vine that had some big thorns on it, straighten up and centered at his chest slowing inching its way forward as if she were going to...
"No, wait stop!" Iskall cried out.
Kirke smiled, "It was foolish to forget your little friend here, least that you trusted me."
"Of course, magically appearing island, magic so powerful it radiates off you, Circe... you are Circe." Doc grasped out.
"All I did is change two letters of my name, geez, your kind of like a character in a book or something." The now Circe crossed her arms.
"I won't let you hurt him," Wels shouted out of rage and started to raise his sword.
"Wrong choice." Circe raise her hand in a circle, then Wels started to get smaller and smaller then he turned into a guinea pig.
He squeaked and ran forward, trying to attack Circe, she kicked him away.
"I used to turn men into pigs, but they are too high in needs." She rolled her eyes.
"Did it mean... I don't feel so good now..." Beef cupped his face.
"If any of you try and attack, your friend here will get it." She smiled again and turned us all into guinea pigs.
Wels squealed with rage, "Go let our friend go! Squeak!"
"Who said I was going to anyway?" Circe knead down and bopped Wels's uh guinea pig nose, she stared at Grian for a while and decided to let the vines slowly grow tighter.
A new guinea pig who had a red cape walked up to us, "You got trapped here too? That's bad, we need someone that is still a human to convince her to turn us back."
"How do you know that?" Xisuma the guinea pig asked.
The new guy yawned, "Well, I had seen once a guy leaving this island by beating her in a game."
"Who are you anyway?" Xb coldly asked.
"You should remember me in my human form, Xisuma," He said.
Xisuma looked confused then changed the subject, "We do have someone that's still a human male... uh demigod male."
"Cool, go find him and find the female hermits too." The new guy said and went back to sleep.
"I'll go find Cub because False will never let me hear the end of this," Iskall the guinea pig said.
"Then Tango and I'll go find False and the others," I said.
"Can I come too?" Zed asked.
"Sure, I guess..." Tango said.
"Just don't get into trouble." I sighed.
Xisuma said, "We should all split up, so it doesn't look like we are planning something."
Doc agreed, "I'll go and find a fast route go and into the ship."
Jevin nodded his guinea pig head, "I'll tell Mumbo what happened."
Joe the guinea pig then said, "I'll stay here in case she tries to do anything with Grian"
Wels nodded and said, "I'll stay too."
Xisuma replied, "Good, let's go then."
Zed, Tango, and I set off to the east where Circe said where the flower field was.
While traveling as fast we could on our small legs, Zed asked, "Do we even have a plan to turn us all back into humans?"
"We don't have a person when shapeshifter powers here, so no," Tango said in between breaths.
"We could have shapeshifting powers?" Zed asked, suddenly gaining speed.
"If you are powerful enough to control it, yes!" I exclaimed in squeaks.
The flower field part of Circe's speech is not a lie, around a small pond, was a field of flowers that spend out for miles and miles. Circe and Stress looked like they were talking about something, False was just standing near the lake, Cleo sat under the shade of the willow tree.
"We have to slow down, if we rush in Circe will notice us, use your fur to conceal yourself and blend in with the grass," I stated, slowing down.
"Did you learn that from one of those animal shows?" Tango asked, silently laughing.
"False said that knowledge is power!" I claimed.
"Don't worry, I watch those animal shows for the cute animals," Zed said, trying to comfort me.
We split up, I ran into the tall grass, sneaking around, and went near Stress and Circe. I looked around, Tango was near Cleo and Zed was next to False.
I used my teeth and yanked Stress's pants. Nothing.
I squeaked a bit to try to get her attention. Nothing again.
Stress started walking towards False, who was kneeling down to hopefully be talking to guinea pig Zed. And at that moment, I knew what it mean to hold on for dear life and I knew what a shoe tasted like, and trust me, it taste horrible.
I wanted to scream but if I did, Circe would find me, and I'll let go of everything, so I just mentally screamed and cursed a bit.
False stood up, her face was the expression of disbelief and worry, on her head, Zed sat, his guinea pig form bending into the hair.
"Stress? I think the others are in trouble." False softly whispered, looking up at the guinea pig on her head.
"How so?" Stress asked, her tone was a bit more serious.
"Well..." Cleo walked over, balancing an umbrella, and cupping her hands over Tango.
A loud scream cut off Cleo's explanation, Circe looked in the direction where the temple is, with anger on her face, started running towards that direction, then she jumped and teleported.
"Well... no time to waste! The others may be in trouble!" Stress said and started running as fast as she could, and damn, that girl is fast.
I held on to her shoelace and nearly crashed into a rock while the run was happening.
When we reached the temple, Cub was there as well, he was trying to remove the vines off of Grian's unconscious body.
"Another male?" Circe exclaimed.
Cleo looked at her hands, "Was this what you were talking about?" Tango squeaked and nodded.
I leaped down from Stress's shoe and ran towards Cub to try to help him.
"You. All. Stop. Now." Circe's voice echoed in my head, I stopped, I didn't know why but I stopped.
False then broke into her fighting style, she went behind Circe and as Circe was turning around, False rushed in, wrapped her arm in a choking pose, and held her sword at neck point.
"You. Put down your sword." Circe's voice flabbier a bit, as the sword's blade went closer to her neck.
Cleo stepped in, "Release our friend."
Circe's eye flickered a bit and hoping to regain her stand, Circe pulled the vines closer and made the non-spikey one suddenly have spikes, I lost my balance and fell.
"Don't come nearer!" Circe sneered, False suddenly backed up, her eyes were stormy with fear.
"Stop! All of you! I have an idea!" The guinea pig that had a red cape said suddenly, climbing onto Grian's head.
"Who are you?" Cub backed away, preparing his staff.
"It doesn't matter for now, but Circe, I challenge you to a game, if you lose, you turn us all back into a human, and if you win, you can do whatever we want." The new guy said.
"Ha, you? Challenge me? deal!" Circe said.
"Swear it on the River Styx." He said.
Hearing that Circe backed away a bit, but still nodded.
The new guy then looked at Cub, "You'll help me in my place since I'm still a guinea pig."
Circe turned into a Karen for a split second, "What! You can't do that! That's cheating!"
The new guy yawned, "I never said in the oath how many people can help."
Circe looked around and realize that no one around her wanted to help, she puffed out, "Fine! I'll play by myself!"
The guy looked at Cub, "Choose a game of your liking, and made sure you win."
Cub thought about it, "I challenge you, Circe to an arm-wrestling fight... yeah!"
Circe's look of madness faded, "Challenge accepted."
Now here, I'll normally go into detail into how cool and close the match was, but Cub just destroyed her, they went to the temple's marble table to wrest too, so Circe's hand must hurt.
"What the- ow!" was her reaction.
False chuckled, "Cub's the son of Kratos, of course, he is gonna win in terms of power."
Circe sighed and turned us back into humans, which also included...
"Jessassin?" Xisuma's voice echoed along.
The new guy, turned around, "Long time no see, Xisuma."
(Uh, quick Author's note here, I tried to describe how Jessassin looked like four times and it was scrapped because it wasn't good enough, so here's a drawing of how Jessassin looks like. Lol)
Jessassin now fully human turned to Circe, "Now for him." he pointed at Grian.
Circe angrily stomped her feet, "I didn't make any oath to release him!"
All at once, False, Iskall, Wels, and Jessassin pointed their swords at Circe's neck.
"Release him now," Iskall said in his cold, harsh tone.
Circe nodded her head, whimpering sorry and with a wave of her hand, the vines disappeared.
Joe and Wels rushed to him, Grian's arms were scarred with deep cuts so they started treating him.
False looked at Iskall suspiciously, "I thought you two are rivals who won't hesitate to rip each other's heads off?"
Iskall grinned, "She was gonna stab him with a vine, first, that isn't a cool way to die and more importantly I'm the only one that is allowed to stab him...gently."
False nodded, "Could you even stab someone gently?"
Iskall smirked, "Want me to try it on you?"
False shook her head, "No thanks."
Xisuma walk towards Circe, "Do you know where to find Nereus?"
Circe nodded a bit, "Somewhere in the depths of the ocean, near the island Naxos."
Jevin came along, "You know, 'Somewhere in the depths of the ocean' is not a great way to describe the huge ocean around us, right?"
Circe crossed her hands, "I only know so much! And Nereus moves around a great lot!"
Jevin let out an exaggerated sigh, "I hope we find him."
And in the corner, Xisuma and Jessassin were nodding and catching up.
"You say that you send off in this quest without reasons?" Jessassin exclaimed, he seemed frustrated.
"We had two not-so-good reasons, first, we were curious! And second, a monster broke through our magic barrier." Xisuma said, adjusting his helmet.
"I swear your curiosity will be the death of all of you." Jessassin frowned.
Zed popped up, again to ask, "Are you a demigod?"
Jessassin, mildly shocked by Zed's sudden appearance, "Yea-yes."
Xisuma laughed a bit, "You'll get used to him sooner or later, Zed can pop out of nowhere."
Jessassin, stared at Zed then asked, "New hermit? I don't think I've seen him before."
Zed nodded, "Yep, I'm a new guy! Though the others already feel like family."
I smiled at Zed's comment, Jessassin looked at his feet, "Do you mind if I tag along for a while, mostly because I need a way off the island,"
"For sure! We'll love to have you back! I missed you." Xisuma said with a big grin on his face.
"Can you guys please not chit-chat on my island? I'll kick you all off in a minute." Circe said, she seemed annoyed.
"Woah geez, we'll leave now," I said backing up from her.
"Don't come back here, I won't be so willing to make a deal next time." Circe sneered and walked back to the flower garden.
"Well, what are we waiting for! I'll race you all to the ship!" Xb called out, then everyone took off except Grian and Wels, because he was limping, and Wels was helping him.
By the time, we were on the ship, we were out of breath.
"You all should exercise more." Mumbo stared at me.
"Oh, you shut up!" I wheezed out, trying to catch my breath.
"No, he's right. You are all out of shape." Jessassin said, learning on the wall of the ship.
"I have a helmet, so it makes sense that I'll be out of breath," Xisuma said.
"I guess so," Jessassin said.
"Guys, I think it's gonna rain," Iskall said looking out of the window.
"I feel sick." Beef moaned a bit.
And that's the last thing that we heard before the ocean went crazy on us.
TLDR:
The Hermits got lost because they turned into animals, then a storm hit them. And even more of Beef's seasickness. And oh yeah Jessassin's here for now.
Author's Note:
Oh god, MCC just announced their teams and I'm not sure who to watch... uh... I'll love to watch Grian but Ren and False... and the dream team... And Techno too! I am so confused.
Jessassin is a son of Nemesis, I scrapped the part where Zed asked Jessassin about that because it made Zed look too curious. Lol.
Also, when the Hermit became guinea pigs, their clothes sank with them.
And yes, I purposely don't make Grian into a guinea pig because I R O N Y.
And I'm working on something big, so expect something cool. (It's for the PJO AU I mention a while back, but I have sometimes planned for HermitCamps.)
I don't have a good ending point so here's Xisuma questioning his life.
