He didn't stick out too much, he didn't fit in perfectly. He didn't hang out with the others all the time, but he didn't sit out a lot either. His personality wasn't loud and unique, but it wasn't quiet and dull. He wasn't the smartest in the class, but he wasn't the one with the lowest grade. He had found equilibrium, made himself as easy to write off as possible. Killua Zoldyck was the perfect background character. and he was content with it being that way.
