Petros(Carter) arrived by taxi and was shown into Graz's office.

"Ah Petros, how good to see you again.

"Graz, Dan, good to be out of that damn hospital I'll tell you."

"You did well, my boy, the police file is closed. This has brought to a close the embarassing events of the last month.
I am now installed as the new Superior General, you are looking at His Holiness' new Black Pope and your friend Dan here, has been promoted to The Keeper of Accounts for the IOR.

All that remains is to install you as Guardian of Secrets. That is if you still want it? Has anything changed to make you reconsider your decision of a month ago?" Graz stared Petros(Carter) down.

Petros(Carter) scanned his memory to ensure it wasn't an entrapment. He saw the meeting in Enrico's office where it had been raised and he had agreed to consider it if such a vacancy were to occur.

"Then I would be honoured to accept if it pleases His Holiness."

"I assure you it does. So before we install you, however, there is the formality of the official renewal of your blood oath to the Jesuits and in particular your oath of allegiance to the new Black Pope. Are you willing to so swear on your life to each severally and jointly?"

"I am," Petros(Carter) vowed, head bowed in submission.

"Then I, as the newly appointed Superior General   to His Holiness do solemnly install you Cardinal Petros Margate, as the 45th Guardian Of Secrets.

"As you raise your eyes affix them on this set of keys and recognise they symbolise not only the physical unlocking to you of the Vault Of Secrets but the Spiritual Unlocking of the Genetic Line of THE CHRIST."

"You are to become, now, one of only a hundred or so souls to bear witness to all the Secrets of the Ages. They are not to be disclosed to anyone outside of the Vault of Secrets. The nature of your oath is such that should you divulge on purpose, by deceit, or inadvertantly any of these secrets to an unworthy recipient then you are to, immediately and permanently, repair such loss with the immediate destruction of memory of the events by termination of the lifeforce no matter it's station or relation to you. Is all this understood and agreed to?"

"I do so agree." Petros(Carter) said solemnly.

"Then raise your head, extend your right hand and take into your possession until your death the Keys to the Covenant. Protect them with your life. The Secrets, they will unlock, you are to protect with your death."
