" I have an idea. " Natasha said suddenly. " This might sound a little crazy. " 

" We don't expect anything different from you. " Shoaib commented.

" Shut up. " She slapped his arm. " Okay, I and Shoaib were going to sing anyways. And Dips can play the piano and Rohan can play the drum thingy and Jay can play the guitar. You guys weren't anyways decided on the song. We will just play what we have prepared." she said thoughtfully.

" Girl you made sense. " Dips said shockingly.

" Shut up. " Natasha said slapping her arm. 

They had prepared ' Just the way you are ' by Bruno Mars. I knew that song by heart so that wasn't a problem.

" Yea we can do that. " I said looking nervously at Sam.

He held my hand silently conveying that it is all cool.

At that point, I felt like this is what we need in life. Someone to understand that it is not okay when we say it is. Someone to silently convey to us that it is going to be alright.

Okay, enough melodrama.

Fuck what are you doing to me, Sam??

We came on stage but it was all dark on the stage.

Then I distinctly saw Ayan give us or rather Sam a thumbs up. He was standing near the spotlight so as to control it.

The spotlight came on and it just focused on Sam. He had worn a white shirt with a tie hanging loosely around his neck and his shirt clinging to his body.

I heard a loud cheer from the crowd. I could see the crowd but they couldn't see me, coz the spotlight was not yet on me.

" Hey. " He said lazily.

The girls obviously screamed. I have no idea why does he get this mini-stardom treatment.

" This one is for all you pretty girls out there. " He said obviously flirting. Not that I was jealous. Just stating.

" This one is for one of the prettiest girls I have ever met. " He said coming near to me. The crowd still couldn't see me because I wasn't in the spotlight yet.

" One of the most amazing girls I have ever seen. " Then he held my hand and a second spotlight was focused on me.

This seemed so surreal. 

The girls in the crowd went "aww" obviously. The guys also let out some whoops.

" This one is for friendship. " He said holding my hand and pulling me closer.

" This one is for the memories. " he said twirling me around and taking his position behind me still holding my hand.

" This one is for love. " He said now looking into my eyes, his gray eyes twinkling due to the light falling on them. Boy did they look mesmerizing.

He put the mic away and whispered in my ear " I lied about the pretty and amazing part. " 

Jerk.

The music started with a slow beat, and he just twirled me around and the lifted me a bit and twirled around.

The beat soon caught pace and he was guiding me and I caught up to bits and pieces.

And then Natasha and Shoaib started singing and both were amazing.

There we a lot of lifts which we had practiced. Thankfully he didn't drop me this time. It would have been a major embarrassment for me....

The last part of the lyrics came on and I geared up for another lift, I just didn't know which. But it never came.

" When I see your face, " Sam let on a slight touch on my cheek

" There is not a thing that I would change, " He tapped my nose and pointed in the front. I looked at what he was pointing at, a stupid move cause we were on stage.

" Coz you are amazing, " I saw nothing and therefore turned back to him but he wasn't there. So I turned around to see where he went and he was in front of me down on his knees.

" Just the way you are. " Shoaib finished as Sam held my hand which made me smile like an idiot in love, which I am.

The crowd had now gone berserk whooping and screaming. 

" And when you smile. " This made me smile even wider, as he stood up and went behind me and closed my eyes. The crowd suddenly became silent...

" The whole world stops and stands for a while. "  he opened my eyes and pointed to the crowd.

" Girl you are amazing, " He lifted my hand up which indicated that there was a lift. I lifted my hands up gracefully while he held my waist.

" Just the way you are. " He lifted me by the waist, while I was still facing the audience, and twirled around and held me up by the waist while I looked up. 

" Just the way you are, " Natasha finished giving it a sweet end.

The crowd was cheering like a bunch of maniacs and all I wanted to do was see Shameeka's face. 

Ha! take that bitch.

And then he dropped me. So much for this seeming surreal.

The girls in the crowd obviously didn't care that he had dropped me and were still screaming.

Just then Laura came to the stage.

" Wow, that was breathtaking. " She said smiling wide. Wow isn't she a bit jealous? 

I got up and smiled at her. 

" Thanks for portraying me, Ari, " Laura said smiling gratefully. And my smile fell. Wait. Portraying? what?  " My handsome boyfriend here has dedicated this to me and Ariana has portrayed me. Such a beautiful surprise you guys. " 

WHAT THE FREAKING HELL? Why is the crowd still whooping?? 

Sam just smiled and went along with it. Really now?

He even went to the extent of kissing her cheek. He really does agree with it.

" I love you, Ari. " She said coming and hugging me.

" Yea sure no problem. " I mumbled into the mic.

I walked down the stage turning back to see him. He saw me and his eyes softened a bit, as his smile faltered, maybe seeing the potentially rising tears. 

Fuck not again. Do not cry or a guy again. You are stronger than that. Stupid crush, stupid kiss.

Jay lent me a hand once I reached the end of the stairs. Yea he came down through the backstage and reached here before me.

I took his hand, thanking him silently for the much-needed support. 

Our whole group had gathered at one place, including Shameeka, Sam, and Laura. I don't know why Shameeka was still here. I avoided Sam and Laura the whole time.

I felt betrayed by Sam but in the process, I forgot that I had betrayed my best friend. 

I was the bitch here. It reminded me of how Josh cheated on me and how I hated that girl forever. I was that girl here. 

All these thoughts were flooding my mind and I needed some fresh air.

We had dinner and everyone was laughing and having a good time, congratulating us on the great dance, Natasha and Shoaib on the singing, and Laura and Sam for being a couple.

This was just great. Not.

" That was great move guys.  You guys saved the day. " One of the teachers congratulated us, " Although next time I expect something original. " 

Gah. Like we give a flying fuck. I needed to get out of here. ASAP.

I was just about to sneak out of college when Jay called out to me.

" What do you want Jay? I am really not in the mood. " I said not giving a fuck if I was rude.

" It's 11 Ari. I am not going to let you walk alone on the road. " He said not caring even if I spoke rudely to him.

I shrugged and started walking on the footpath and he followed.

" The lights look beautiful, right? " He said trying to start a conversation.

" Jay, if you are going to ask pointless questions then stop right there. " I said making it clear that I wasn't in the mood. 

He nodded and just kept walking by me.

" Jay, have you ever liked someone? " I asked him suddenly when this question came to my mind.

" I like everyone. " He replied beaming.

I smiled at his happy-go-lucky attitude. " No, I meant like really like someone. Like that way. " 

" You mean you-can-be-my-potential-girlfriend way? " He asked.

" Yea. " I let out a chuckle.

" I don't really know. There was this girl who was my neighbour. Every day she used to sneak me a sweet. Her dad had a candy shop. " He said smiling at the memory.

" How old were you? " I asked wondering who sneaks a candy at the age of 15.

" Four. " He replied chuckling.

" What happened then? " I asked stopping and turning to him. He stopped too.

" Well...one day she moved. When I found out I cried a lot. I wasn't going to get an everyday dose of candy after that. " he said with a slight pout.

I laughed. " So us were unhappy because you weren't going to get candy?? " .

He laughed along and just shook his head.

" Do you want her to come back? " I asked looking straight at him.

" It was years back Ari. Life is not like a fairy tale. You don't always get what you want. But you will get what you deserve. I don't expect her to come back. But I hope I deserve her. " he smiled.

" You love her. " I stated studying his face.

" Ari, I know you want him. But you deserve much more. " he said lightly bumping my shoulder with his.

I smiled in return. " Thank you. "

We walked for a while kicking all little stones on the footpath and laughing at our own antics.

We saw a restaurant on the opposite side of the lane and decided to have our dinner there as my stomach embarrassingly rumbled in font of Jay.

He offered me to drop home and I quickly agreed as I had to other ride home except for Sam and I wasn't really in the mood to see his face.

I pondered over the thought of texting Sam that I went home but then decided not to. He won't care anyways.

We paid the bill and got into Jay's car.

We stopped at the main gate and I thanked him and proceeded towards my building, when he called me.

I stopped and turned back. He stepped out of the car and walked towards me and hugged me.

I hesitated but then hugged him back.

" If you ever need a friend Ari, I'll always be here. "

I smiled and relaxed on his shoulder. " Thank you. " I whispered.

He got back into his car and drove away.

I was still smiling like an idiot while walking towards the building. 

But that soon turned into a shocked expression when I saw what or rather who was in front of me.

Sam was standing there with his hands folded in front of him and an angry expression on his face.

Oh why can't I like Jay? Why do I have to like this idiot.

Aye people. I have been busy with college admissions so I get very little time to be on wattpad.

Again English isn't my first language so it's not upto the mark but I try.

Also my laptop broke so it's hard to update frm my phone....so there will be errors.
