Chapter 5: Learning
Aubrey POV:
It has been a week since we got to this place, and Logan and have been acting really lovey dovey towards each other. I know they're in a relationship, but they don't have to rub it in my face. I had made moves on wolf-boy, but he isn't interested. My bleach-blonde hair was now messy, same with James' brown shoulder length hair. Logan and Aiden's hair didn't seem to be harmed, though. I could understand why Logan's hair was okay, it was closely cut, except for a strip that was two inches wide, with hair as long as two inches and dyed bright red.
Aiden, however, was a different story. His hair was thick, and as dark as ebony, making his mint blue ears stand out. His hair went to his chin and was tied in a small pony tail in the back and wasn't messy at all, much to my surprise. It even seemed to bounce with every step. I began to think of why Aiden rejected my moves, and then it hit me. We don't know each other. After an entire week of wandering through this place, all we know about Aiden is that he's Anya's twin.
"Hey, guys, how about we play Two Truths and A Lie?" I ask, wanting to get to know the boys I've been travelling with. Aiden looks at me, a hint of amusement in his eye, and nods.
"I'm fine with that." Says Logan, while James nods.
"Alright," I said, "I'll go first. 1) I have two dogs, 2) both are girls, 3) I have a little sister named Jewel." The boys all seemed to begin thinking, except Aiden, who sniffed the air near me. What is he doing? "A-Alright, boys, place your votes. Which was the lie?" James held up one finger, Logan did the same, but Aiden held up two fingers. I stared at him, shocked. "H-how did you know?"
"Your scent. You have two dogs, true, but only one is female. Heads up- she's got pups on the way." My eyes widened even more- if that were possible. He saw our expressions, chuckled, and tapped his nose.
"A-alright! My turn!" James exclaimed, "1) I have five little brothers, 2) I have no sisters, 3) I dressed up as Cinderella last Halloween." Aiden held up three fingers before Logan or I could. James' face fell, and he nodded. Aiden grinned.
"Well, I guess it's my turn." Logan spoke, "1) I first got my hair dyed in the middle of Summer, 2) I have a girlfriend, 3) I'm a single child." Aiden instantly held up two fingers, making our jaws drop.
"What? I'm not blind you know, I've seen how you and James have been acting. Plus, you're gay. At least, that's what your scent tells me."
"Well, Aiden, it's your turn."
"Right, 1) I'm gay, 2) Anya is my only sibling, 3) I hold no love in my heart for my father." We all paused, thinking about what he said. Warily, James and Logan held up three fingers, while I held up one. There's no way he can be gay. (Hey that rhymed. Nice one, me) Aiden saw our reactions and chuckled. "Wow. Didn't think you guys could guess wrong." Our jaws dropped. What? "I AM gay, Anya ISN'T my only sibling, and I have no love for my father. AT ALL."
"B-But... What!?" I shouted. "W-what-how. I-I'm so confused..." I trailed off to hear Aiden's soft chuckling.
"So, you have another sibling besides Anya?" James asked, curious.
"Well technically she's my half sister, same mother different fathers, but yeah. She's the most adorable eight-year-old you'll ever see."
"What's her name?" Asked Logan.
"Raelyn. Her name is similar to her father's, Raeshan."
"What is with you people and weird names?" I spoke up. The boys burst into laughter, and I joined in.
"C'mon, we spent enough time just standing around. We'll be at a village really soo-" Aiden cut himself off as his eyes widened. I looked in the direction he was staring and saw a strange silhouette. The shadow was bulky and had furry ears and a furry tail. I glanced towards the boys to see Logan standing protectively in front of his Latino boyfriend, glaring at the stranger. Aiden's expression mirrored Logan's, his fangs ground together, growling angrily. He spoke one word with hatred.
"Dane..." The silhouette smiled.
