"Saturday right?"
"Yeah. See you then."
Nathan stands up and leaves the table. He just greeted you and Jimin and asked if you wanted to go do laser tag with him and a couple of his friends. Of course you said yes. Nathan is the coolest dude.
"That's going to be so much fun," Jimin says excitedly. "I've never gone laser tagging."
"Really?" You ask. "It's is fun. I used to go with Autumn all the time. She had a birthday party and we played with a group of people and beat the other team so fast. It's fun because when you go into the laser tag room, you just let go and become a different person. We used to act like we were fighting in a movie world. Autumn can be so good at acting..."
You stop talking and look down at your hands, biting your lip. "But... but Autumn... never mind. You already know."
Jimin puts his chin on your shoulder and looks up at you with a pout. "It's okay," he says. "Just don't think about it. Have you talked to her?"
You sigh. "No. You heard her yourself. She's glad we're not friends anymore."
"Yes," Jimin says. "But I also saw the way she looked at you in Spanish. She has unspoken words too."
You meet Jimin's eyes. "Should I?" You ask. "I'm worried that those 'unspoken words' will hurt."
"If she really wants nothing to do with you, of course it will hurt. Trust me," Jimin says. "But if you want, I can be with you when you talk to her."
You chew the inside of your cheek, turning the offer over in your mind. Having Jimin there would make you feel better, no doubt. The only problem is that if you're going to confront your best friend of years, you shouldn't be so nervous.
If you bring Jimin to a confrontation that doesn't concern him, not only will you look like a shallow person, you will feel like a weakling in the inside. Jimin being there will take all your problems away before you can confess them to Autumn.
"No," you say. "This is something I've got to do on my own."
Jimin nods in understanding. "Okay," he says. He closes his eyes, moving so his head rests on your shoulder comfortably. You smile and reach over, tracing his nose with your finger.
"You look so tired," you say. Jimin hums. "I am tired. But it's Thursday now. The weekend will come soon."
You ruffle Jimin's hair. "Let's go to the library. Before the bell rings at least."
Jimin nods, opening his eyes and standing up. You take his hand and together, the two of you leave with your backpacks to go to the library.
You've been doing that for the past three days. Instead of staying in the cafeteria all morning, you go to the library to hide in a corner behind a couple of bookshelves.
The lights in the library don't turn on until school starts, so the dark and quiet make the library a nice place to hang out and nap or just be in each other's presence.
Jimin's fingers slide into yours. "I got my bandages removed yesterday. My burn feels fine now. Mikey says it looks pretty good. Just a little bit more time and the mark will be gone."
You smile. "That's good," you say. "Now all that's left to do is not play with candles dangerously again and you'll be fine."
Jimin groans. "It was an accident. I won't do it again."
You poke Jimin's cheek. "I know. Just teasing. It seems like a difficult accident to make."
Jimin pouts at you. "I promise I'm not that careless," he says.
"I know, Chim. I know."
The two of you walk into the library. It's empty this morning so far. You've arrived earlier than normal this morning though, so that's no surprise. You head to the normal spot and set your backpacks down against the bookshelves as makeshift cushions, then sit down on the floor and lean against them.
Jimin leans on it sideways. You've noticed that. He tried to lay his back on it on Monday but winced and shifted onto his side to face you. At the time, you put it off as him just wanting to look at you. But now, after a couple of days of thought, you're not so sure.
With everything that you've seen on his back... you wouldn't be surprised if there are more bruises back there that hurt to put any amount of pressure on.
You face Jimin as well.
"How did you sleep?" Jimin asks. You shrug. "Same as always. Went to sleep somewhere around midnight. Woke up a couple of times here and there. I don't usually sleep that well on a school night."
"Me neither," Jimin murmurs. "But it's easier to come to school because you're here."
Your heart melts and you don't know how to reply to that. So you scoot forward and plant a kiss on Jimin's forehead, smiling. "Even though we only have two classes together," you say. "That's relatable."
Jimin wraps his arms around you and pulls you right up against him. He kisses your nose and nuzzles it with his, closing his eyes.
You close your eyes too. This feeling in your chest... this stirring. This warmth. It takes your breath away and leaves you craving for more.
Jimin stops and you open your eyes to meet his hooded gaze. His eyes are on your lips. You stay still and quiet as if disturbing the silence will ruin this moment.
Jimin moves closer and fits his lips to yours. You close your eyes again and let the feeling spread through you like honey, slow and sweet. Jimin's hand reaches up and tangles in your hair. Your hands are up against his chest, grasping his shirt.
After another long moment of moving together, the kiss becomes needy and fast. That's when Jimin breaks it and sits up. You frown, opening your eyes and following him up. You are about to open your mouth and ask what's wrong when he cups your face and pulls you back to him, tilting his head and capturing your bottom lip in his.
Jimin hums at the feeling and his hands loosen, falling to your neck and shoulders to hold tight to you. You move with as much purpose as he does. You let your arms wrap around his neck. Jimin nibbles on your bottom lip, pulling it open and sliding his tongue into your mouth.
This is so different.
This is a Jimin that has only ever come out around you. You bring this out.
The kiss makes your senses whir and the only thing you can think is closer. You need to be closer.
Jimin pulls away just when the kisses start to get sloppy. Your foreheads press together and your shaky, panting breaths mingle in the space between you. His thumb reaches up from your shoulder and rubs a spot on your neck softly. The hand on your neck moves as he pulls away from you and smoothes your hair away from your face.
The silence grows until it becomes unbearable and Jimin finally speaks.
"Precious," he murmurs, closing his eyes again and pulling your forehead to his once more. "You are my precious."
